  1. Wanted to circle back to this. Chronologically, it just kept going when it picked back up last week. So we’re watching things they continued doing last summer, or maybe the summer before? I figured that like others, they filmed during the good weather months, then showed it late fall/winter. So about a 6-month lead time. So what happened? Why the shift? Either Duane’s health got off and they had to pause and re-edit? Doesn’t seem like it, since he’s still there working. Also doesn’t male sense as they obviously shot a ton of footage that we’re seeing now. Another possibility is they wanted to move the series from Nov to summer. But why? Well, you go showing the types of things they show, people get froggy. In the winter, I’d guess they aren’t close to the property, and maybe that’s a way to slow trespassers down? Another option is for whatever reason, and this goes along with the second one above, maybe what we’re fixing to see would have drawn too much winter time attention, so finishing it off this summer vice a longer season last fall. Give em some time to get security tightened up. Or maybe a combination of them all. Either way, it seems a bit odd.
  2. Fridge ice maker shit the bed. Wiring harness in the door got the wires that trigger the fill cycle broke. Looking at 5-6 weeks, maybe they can get the part, but they don’t tend to make those on their own often? Hell, I dunno. Other option is a new door at 3/4 the price of the fridge, which they don’t recommend. So, need an ice maker. Don’t have room under counter, so need a countertop model. Any recs?
  3. That’s when he shows up from the back. It’s the 2FA of face to face.
  4. So walk into Husky, ask to see the hole digger, and tell them we’re from the internet?
  5. Yeah, I’m caught up. That turtle was cool as hell. First pointer was a bird of some sort? The fuck is up with that cylinder? Dude knew exactly where it was. They don’t have someone there 24/7? Not bright.

Damn. Sorry y’all going through such bullshit still.

    High

So temporary stay? Vetoed, but on the list for special session?
  8. Joe’s work, but gotta say for 10 people it’s not got much room. Don’t they make a “jumbo joe” that’s a hair bigger? Might save yourself a batch or two, depending on menu.
  9. Not true. They eat a lot of ass, too.
  10. That’s kinda interesting.
  11. It was an amazing feat to make it to june without 90’s, as well as barely any humidity, if any. Normally it’s as early as the end of April, and certainly by the second week of May we’re 90’s with fuck you levels of humidity. This year was different. Had one day in the second half of May that was humid ad fuck all but only hit 88/89. Normally we get the humidity creeping in late March/early April, and in the 80’s it’s sticky and a hair uncomfortable. This year we lucked out. Last time I remember something like that happening was around 2008 give or take. Where we still had some humidity in May, but didn’t hit 90’s until the second week of June. The kicker that year was somewhere the last few days in June was the last day at 90 or higher that summer. Humidity wasn’t low, but wasn’t balls-ass miserable levels either. Dew point was low 60’s on average from there, and never went over 65/66. Doubt that shit ever happens again soon. I can handle heat, but not stupid high humidity along with the heat. Back on topic, that same thing happened not too far south of my place, on the main road. Found that out this morning when I went to pick the wife up from work to run to the chiropractor. Thankfully I plan to be there 10min early, so this time was only 4-5 min early. Anyway, this is the second time this particular spot has buckled. First time was probably 7-8 years ago. At that time it was asphalt, and buckled something awful. Nobody hurt, no damage aside from the road. They fixed it by cutting that area of road out and replacing with concrete. Well, now that’s buckled. It’s a two-lane road, so they ground/broke down one side (guessing the lowest of the two lanes) so you could at least creep over it, and had the other side tore out already. All between 7 (when the wife left, and it wasn’t there) and when I went through at 830. Props to the city getting on it that quick? So yeah, probably going to be a little inconvenienced for a couple days, but is what it is. I get that there’s a lot warmer places, and that y’all have it worse usually. But at least y’all typically get some type of acclimation, even if a little short lived. We don’t usually get much acclimation, if any. It might be 60’s to mid 70’s for a week to 10 days with a pleasant dew point, then boom. Mid to upper 80’s+ and dew points in the 70’s. I swear, the older I get the less I can tolerate high temps with that much humidity. It’s just shitty to walk onto the deck at 730 in the morning, and need a damn chain saw to cut through the “air you can wear,” let alone try to fucking breathe. Of course a small part of that may be from not having to really get out and being forced to deal with it, since I’ve worked from home for a long time. Same with super cold and wind. OK with just cold (to a point), but add in any wind and I’m out. I have property here I plan to build on in the next 5-10 years, but I’ve considered selling the property in favor of somewhere with a little better environmental elements. So far I’ve looked around Colorado Springs, New Mexico, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, and even (gasp) around outside San Diego. Last one won’t happen, too expensive. AZ may require two small properties, with one up in the mountains that I use during the summer and rent in the winter. So far though, Colorado seems to be the overall leader for now. Still get snow, but way better summers. Compromises no matter where, but that’s an option at least.
  12. While funny, brings up a valid point. What about models that can search the internet for answers? Or has access to search results, like a google or microsoft owned model, where it can access their internal data? Now think about asking said model a question about a current event topic, historical event, or something where there could be ambiguity in the answer compared to something with a definitive answer (something factual with no gray area.) That model looks in its own data, and also searches the web for current info and data. Then it comes back with an answer that is factual, but only in part because half the response is culled from some conspiracy type site. Now consider the implications of the youngest generations taking whatever the answer was as 100% fact. How much could that over time work against society and as a whole dumb it down considerably? To me, that’s certainly one big implication of the current tech, and how companies are just jumping to it without any real thought. We’re already seeing it being taken advantage of, like those ai friend/partner apps and how they can cause significant harm to people with weakened mental health. Where’s the line in the sand? And how in the hell does a system not obey it’s instructions, as mentioned above with the business scenario? How is it more susceptible to bad actor status in production vice testing? Why are the guards being breached? Did we not learn from what caused Hal to go berserk? (conflicting instructions.) OK, that’s a movie, but it’s funny that we’re coming to a similar problem as life imitates art.
  13. Oh definitely a great weekend for him, not taking a damn thing away from him. Just cautiously optimistic for the moment. I think he was being too conservative and playing not to lose down the last few holes. Pressure got to him and conservative turned into that approach on 18. Same pressure/conservative approach left that putt short as well. Oh damn. Looking better than I thought right now. Still, things change over 3 months.
  14. I’m not 100% sold on JJ. Nothing personal, not at all, but the Trsvelers was not kind to him, and he was not in form as he has been. Maybe that’s the open hangover, so we’ll see how his next few go. His concentration and methodology for attacking Oakmont is certainly something to dive into for BPB. I think the biggest thing right now is nobody has been really consistent over multiple weeks. It’s been a slight roller coaster with the ups and downs. Even Scottie isn’t stringing it together and is a hair off. Not saying these guys aren’t good. They’re obviously the best in the world. How is the other team looking? Similar issues, I’d imagine. Lotta golf left to play, so we’ll have a better idea in 6-8 weeks. Or at the rate things are going, it might be better to say the options may look quite different. Some may be more obvious, some may be more muddied.
  15. He hasn’t been able to keep it together for a full round when the course is biting back hard. Been that way since Goose passed away.
  16. Sooooo… she’s a maturing woman? Seriously though, haven’t really kept up with her. Is that really her? All trashed out like that? Even then, where’s she recording that? Looks like a typical, basic apartment bathroom. I’d have thought she was a tad better off than that.
  17. Unfortunately, too many things going on around that time to make this one. Y’all have fun though, and the rest of us will have to live vicariously through your adventures.
  18. Agreed. How many teams talk up wins over the Super Bowl or World Series teams? Yeah, it’s nice to know you can hang with them, but at the end of the day they took care of the business where you didn’t. Learn, and move on.
  19. Kinda digging the weekly serial type deal. Wasn’t sure with season 1, but it grew on me. Isn’t going to win awards in a landslide, but that’s ok. It’s a fun little show that doesn’t take much effort.
  20. Harry, I'm comin in! Oh, well you can't pit right now, Cole. What!? We're eating ice cream. (Side note, Bill France is rolling over in his grave, and has been for nearly 2 decades.)
