  1. Damn. Not like he just got there after this spring semester was over, either.
  2. Well, the right mortician can definitely cut it off, stretching it out might be out of their grasp.
  3. Interesting. I wonder how accurate that ring is? I mean if you are in a spot where “close enough” would be ok. Like the ring says 110, and a poke says 107 or 112, something like that. Probably not close enough for sliding scale, but for general tracking? Would be interesting to find out.
  4. Your edit tripped me up for a split second. I was like wait, I just saw this. Then saw my reply and it kicked in.
  5. Front office has to be happy with the whole Jac situation. Get there last week after the road trip where they brought him up, and the store was loaded out the ass with Jac gear. They’ve had a few signed balls in the other store since he went to AAA, and damn… $200! Higher than the others, by a bit! (It’s for charity, so ok.)
  6. Smells like bitch up in here. It's 3:36pm and ou still sucks.
  7. Galileo: Flipping the bird since 1737.
  8. Well for starters, they won't be able to steal signs.
  9. And then they fucked with him and completely ignored him in the dugout for a bit, before dog piling him. 😂
  10. Or a law firm: Willie Trainor and Howe.
  11. Nationally embarassed?
  12. That’s the name I couldn’t remember earlier.
  13. That’s what we’re all trying to figure out. So many reports with different angles and info, it’s a big steaming turd of questions.
  14. My brother-in-law uses one of those stick-on type deals with an app as well. He’s type 1, so if it’s good enough for that, I guess that’s a good sign? I’m not sure of the name at the moment, but it’s the one that’s been out several years with tv ads and whatnot for it. I don’t think he’s mentioned switching, so pretty sure it’s still the same brand. Definitely the same style at the very least. From what he’s described and what I’ve witnessed from time to time at family functions, it’s easy to use and you can do it whenever you want. Seems to be very handy as compared to a traditional meter. My wife is type 2 and uses a standard meter. Note I didn’t say she was a good one, so she doesn’t use it very often. She should, even just for the day to day history, even if she keeps that to herself so at least she knows. But really overall, somehow she has managed to go from a nightly insulin injection and an 8+ a1c down to fluctuating between 6.8 and 7.1 on her quarterly checks, and no insulin. She’s still on the combination of glyburide/metformin, but even being less than stellar at the input side, I guess the results are showing. She was diagnosed with gestational diabetes when she was pregnant 30 years ago. About 12 or so years ago, give or take, her a1c had come down from 7.8-8.4 range to 7.6-7.8, with some bare bone lifestyle changes, but still not like one would think she should. But still better. Then I made a conscious effort to slip her into a little better lifestyle, without her catching on. First change was to keep her out of fucking starbucks. So I upped my “home barista” game, on the premise of “cost.” It worked, and I used much better syrups and mixers with little to no sugar. To give it the sweet, I did splenda. No problems. She loved them. At the same time I got her off those fucking liquid and powdered creamers. Granted it was a switch to half and half, but still saved a ton of sugars compared to that other shit. I also started putting a good sprinkle of cinnamon on top of the coffee grounds, which wasn’t a bad thing. Made it “more fancy” according to her. Plus some minor tweaks in the kitchen here and there. So not really a “what” change but a “how” change, if that makes sense. By 2015, maybe 2016, she was down low enough her doc took her off of insulin. Over those few years her a1c went to mid 6’s, sometimes a hair lower. Up to 6.8 or so after stopping insulin, but still well controlled. She also lost 30lbs, down to 110, which also helped a lot. I think it’s a bit too small, but she’s stuck in that range, plus or minus 3 or 4 from time to time. A couple years ago her doc moved her from 2 of the combo pills twice a day, to 1 pill twice a day. So that’s good too. Damn, apologies for the drift. Guess I felt bad about saying she was a “bad” diabetic. Which on some things she is. For example, breakfast is half a pot of doctored up coffee. Lunch? Why bother. She eats good for dinner. She doesn’t really deny herself on carbs, but she does keep the amount within reason. Whatever she does though, she’s finally found some semblance of balance that mostly works for her. As long as her doc is ok with her labs, I guess.
  15. Day drinking is a bitch. Damn the luck.
  16. Actually, you’re both right. See, this was the first introduction. Lesson one: why aggy’s stand behind, not in front. On to lesson two.
  17. Not following recruiting much, but maybe we gave him the impression we were moving in another direction?
  18. Eh, whatevs. Not really sure why, as things like that didn’t used to bother me. Heights, tight spaces, so what? About the time I was getting the short-timers on my ship, I started wanting to go up the mast less and less. Let the juniors handle it. For some reason it just started bothering me more and more, and I’d been up the stick while underway in the middle of the atlantic, without a care in the world. Pitching and yawing, big whoop. But yeah, heights started bothering me, and not much after that tight spaces did too. I’m not claustrophobic, per say, but certain conditions whether heights or super tight, very risky spaces have turned into a big nope for me.
  19. I dunno. That smurf shit field makes my head hurt trying to watch. Definitely not the caliber of team for a home/home either.
  20. Damn. Hadn’t thought about that classic in a good while.
  21. Really? That’s quite interesting. Maybe there was bad blood on both sides, and that’s why he was unwilling to switch in Boston? Seems to be a lot more to this than we first thought?
  22. Yeah, that one was hella bad. I get it sometimes where it is actually close. From their angle they usually can’t see the last 8” when the ball is going into the glove. Best they can do is try to hear it hit and watch the runners feet. Those I can be sympathetic to a missed call, that’s what review is for. But that one? oh fuck no. He must have had a hot date or something. I mean they are human, and humans make mistakes no matter the level. We all do. It’s human nature. But be open to the possibility that you may be incorrect and have. made a mistake. Don’t double down and puff out your chest, and end up ejecting someone because they hurt your feelers over your call. Sure, sometimes an ejection is warranted, depending on the post-call interaction, but if both sides maintain respect for each other, things might go better. Not to say that things don’t happen in the heat of the moment, but still, talk mad shit to the officials in any sport and see what happens long term. However, with this one, jesus christ on a bicycle. I mean the ball is what. 10-12 feet from the glove at the point his foot hit the bag. Granted still quick in real time, but in context it wasn’t. Foot hits bag, hear the ball hit glove a second or two after. Only thing I can think of is he mixed up the sound of each in his head? He can’t honestly be that bad?
  23. Nice one, troph. I work from home, so it can be a challenge. Twice a day I get up and walk back and forth from my bedroom, through the kitchen, living room, down the stairs, across the basement to the back bedroom. Reverse course back to my bedroom. rinse. repeat. Effectively I end up in the basement right under where I started. It’s not much, but it’s something I can do during the day and not be “unavailable.” I shoot for 10 minutes, but force a minimum of 5. Sometimes a tick more than 10. Drives the dog nuts. She doesn’t get basement access, so from my room to the stairs (and back from there) it’s like a parade. From time to time I make a couple laps around the upstairs just to fuck with her.
