I get that the media is lazy. I get that the college football media is even lazier. But I can't fathom how any of these people who are covering college football continue to regurgitate and applaud Aggie for being ahead of the curve when it comes to NIL and that some how being the reason they got their recruiting class last year. Maybe dig a little. Just a little.
I think it makes sense that they lured him into the portal. But then UT put an NIL deal that exceeded USC and probably explained California taxes and cost of living to Addison.
The real question to me is whether Addison sees Ewers and Worthy and Robinson and Naylor as a positive or a negative. I don't know what the starting lineup looks like offensively at USC right now as a comparison, but does he view having a WR as talented as Worthy as a positive or negative. I suspect since he was considering Alabama he doesn't give a shit.
Did I miss the part in the game where you get another card after the river? Jam. All day. Every day. If someone has you beat - so be it. It's not your night.
1/2 pot bet and calls a 2.5 x checkraise makes me lean towards your opponent having a nut flush draw, a straight, 88, 77, 33, 66 or 44. I wouldn't think 99 or 10-10, but it's possible he's getting sticky. Your check raise would typically indicate at a minimum two pair or a good combo draw. Tough to try to hold on in that situation with a naked overpair for two more streets - but he is in position.
I may just jam here. If he has 66 or 77 or the nut flush draw it would put immense pressure on him and he may fold despite being ahead. Sure you lose the 1010 or 99 and get called by the straights, but you may also get the two pairs thinking you have a combo draw and are bluffing. You still have some of your full house outs in that situation.
But you have to give his brother credit listing Oregon as another school he's going to visit. He certainly knows the game. It looks like OU may be going to buy its way out of the disaster that hit it last year as well.
He said he was aggro, he was on the button, and we were UTG. I think its a spot to provide some variance to your 4 bet range that is not AA/KK or AK. A 5 bet will always suck when you are at the bottom of your range. If you fold though, you lose a little more than you do if you flat and lose.
With regards to what you do after the flop if he just flats - you play the remainder of the hand out of position just like you would have done if you just called the 3 bet. You are super cautious of AA/KK being slow played. With the 500 pot and 900 behind your continuation bet should be in the range of $300. It's not an easy spot, but the alternatives aren't great either.
With shorty in between, I think I make it $200 straight. If LJ jams, it would put Button in a pickle with your chance to re-raise and iso.
That or something like a standard 3x reraise - maybe $230?
That may have been an ideal spot to four bet with JJ IMHO.
I call another street. I think half the deck should scare the naked overpair with the two flush draws.
Agreed on last hand. Earlier though he ran AK into AA on a King high board and didn't get stacked. I mean I am all for piling on the guy, but he lost the minimum there I think.
I don't understand why Jimbo feels the need to be so adamant/public about the situation when he knows the alumni are buying players. Just play it like Saban and Georgia and don't talk about it. I mean defending the integrity of the players because they are accused of NIL deals when instead they got bags is dumb.
