  1. I was heavily disappointed after seeing all my stocks +5-10% in premarket trading only to open negative and go down from there.
  2. What a kick in the dick. Had a stock I’m looking to exit, opened $1 above my exit price but I had canceled my sell order due to Ukraine (O&G). It is current $5.75 under my exit price. Nice big swing to the negative in value.
  3. A big key for FIRE and ACA subsidies is having a paid off house. Not having to have “income” to make a mortgage payment helps you stay under the ACA cliffs.
  4. I sold a decent chunk of O&G about 9am and immediately bought ITOT and IXUS. Lost about 6% on that trade
  5. A lot of the FIRE guys I have read will structure their expenses to be low enough to qualify for the max ACA subsidy. I think that’s in the $60-80k range. If you needed/wanted more than that you could build a large cash war chest to supplement what you earn or capital gains. Think $60k of taxable income plus $40k out of savings for $100k spend. This assumes pulling out of a tax deferred account with 100% tax, using a taxable account you’d just be taxed on the gains so you’d be able to get more cash for less “income”.
  6. Me too, I was hoping for a $130 entry. I’ve missed several buys that have taken off that flirted with my entry number but never hit it.
  7. I had a $30k swing on one stock today, went from down $20k mid day to up $10k at close. Can’t say it’s not interesting.
  8. Another option to avoid big RMDs is to do Roth conversions early in retirement. Say you need $60k to live, you could pull out $81k to top off to 12% bracket and put the extra $21k in a Roth. If you are looking at big income after RMDs kick in it could be worth converting into the 22% bracket.
  9. Variety in retirement accounts is always good so if you have the cash to do a Roth its never a bad idea. Converting your traditional to Roth is a much trickier question. You will have to pay taxes on the amount that you convert i.e. if you convert $100k you will owe taxes on it as income depending on your tax bracket could be up to $37k. The question is do you expect to be in a higher or lower tax bracket in retirement if you expect to be in a lower bracket converting now makes no sense unless you just want diversity to hedge your bets.
  10. A few weeks ago I found out my dad is in prison when my wife went to verify his address to send a Christmas card…
  11. Google maps of 15th and Eastern. Speed limit there should be 35 or 40. I’m not sure what the right punishment is but going 100mph in a residential area and killing a kid on a bicycle probably deserves more than counseling and a deferred sentence.
  12. This shit annoys me to no end. I will usually leave them in the lobby for an extra 5-10 minutes after the appointment time out of spite. +/- 5 minutes is my acceptable window. My brother is in the show up an hour early club, we have started telling him the event starts 30-60 minutes later than planned.

Entry fees. The futurity this next week cost $2,777 to sign up. $2,500 is entry fees. It looks like they have about 600 horses signed up so somewhere in the $1.5 mil range from entry fees alone. https://nrhafuturity.com/2021/futurity-conditions.pdf I
  14. What happened to Beeper? All of his post are gone. Who is going to feel the role of WTI sunshine pumper to keep me holding all of my O&G stocks hoping for a payout?

DB floor press is awesome for this. Gives a physicaL stopping point so you don’t accidentally over extend.
