  1. It's mostly the W-L. But it's also the games against Mississippi State, Kentucky, Florida, UGA. The PC talks a lot but they generally sort by W-L and follow the computers.
  2. It's a tough draw. If TTech was closer to normal, or BYU losses one of the wacky tiebreakers and finishes 11-1, then they probably both go to the playoff. The Big12 had a number of wins over the ACC so they probably are the #3 conference.
  3. Colley is a binary where a win is 1 and loss is 0. That's the metric everyone uses when they want to exclude ND because it treats last minute losses to A&M and Miami the same as Alabama getting crushed by Florida State. If we are going to be faulted for pure W-L then we get credited for beating opponents' W-L. https://colleyrankings.com/currank.html
  4. Nope. We would be dogs to Ohio State, maybe small underdogs to Oregon and Georgia. I'm happy for a chance to thrash the rest of the field, particular fakers like Oklahoma and Alabama. Again we beat three 9 win teams, and Navy will likely become a 10 win team next week. That's just a piece of the puzzle showing that we didn't play a joke schedule, not that we ever do. And where are you getting the idea that BYU is better than ND in any measure? Massey gives BYU #15-defense amd #20 in offense. ND is 1 and 6th. The one thing that ND, BYU, ND, and USC have in common is that we are much higher in the computers than the human polls. https://masseyratings.com/cf/fbs/ratings
  5. Going for it is fine in that spot. I just don't know why coaches can't just run a play instead of going lucha libre with fakes. Is your base offense expected to get two yards?
  6. Navy is #22 on Colley. Boise won't quite be top 25 but it's a win over a conference champ 9 win team.
  7. IF Boise wants to go to the half with 40 seconds left, why throw a 5 yard pass. The only thing that can happen is a pick-6.
  8. We will have two top 25 wins and three more in the top 50. All very decisive or a blowout. Is one 8 team really that much better than another? Who cares
  9. Even if we look at just that metric in a vacuum; Miami beat who? ND. The entire SEC OOC? ND. Maybe Georgia tech and Michigan. But then maybe (we beat) USC, Navy, and Boise State. The entire point of a bloated playoff is to forgive losses from good teams, instead of having your national title hopes dashed by one loss and then later two losses. Well, we have the best losses.
  10. Again we are two days from being 12-0. No other team can say that. One of those plays was a swallowed whistle on their 4th and 11 go ahead td. https://youtube.com/shorts/UtVOuj_flqk?si=9Tg2_z4G5FSC6nXH
  11. THere may be a reason to get stuffed in a locker but Texas is not one of them.
  12. And the computers, and Vegas know that ND is better than Miami and most playoff teams Perception when they are looking for a reason to drop you.
  13. There are several things, like squeakers over losing teams.
  14. The computers say otherwise. Unless you look at a binary Win=1 Loss=0, you will notice that we only played two close games against good teams and lost each in the final 30 seconds. The other ten wins ranged from decisive to blowout.
  15. Did you miss the BCS era?
  16. A&M, UGA, Bama, Ole Miss, OU, Vandy. UT It seems to me that a BYU win means that the SEC will have to make do with 'only' four teams in the playoffs. There are ample reasons to say 'sorry' to number five.
  17. Is there any rule that forbids a conference from using the playoff committee, or something like the AP poll to determine who plays in the conference championship game?
  18. That was an unlikely and frustrating Turkey Saturday. OU, Bama, UGA we're all facing virtual elimination on the last drive of the game but the favorites went 3-0. The PC almost always follows the computers, it is their justifications in the media that are all over the map. The exception that proved the rule is FSU in 2023. The computers didn't know the QB was injured.
  19. Good wins vs bad losses vs quality losses. Computers love that last one.
  20. Also by Massey, Vanderbilt is 15th with the 21st power rating. They are just another good but not great team.
  21. Tech got the ball back with 13 seconds on their own 20 and went right back to the short passing game. At least they tried their 2nd deep throw of the game with 7 seconds left.
  22. Gtech with the 1 yd halfback dive on 1st down, 15 yards over DPI on 2nd, and the attempted dump off on 3rd and 10. The Jackets must think their punt return team can deliver.
  23. Nope Saving the good luck for tonight?
  24. GTech has a few good plays and then they screw up on the next one. Even a good defensive series surrendered a long fg.
  25. Did you follow every good play with a screw up?
