  1. Becoming 1% to win the conference is a massive improvement for a team that was 0.1% to win the conference. Ventuple? 🤓
  2. I'm thinking that state schools will win out because they ultimately bill the taxpayer. State politicians understand who is on the team when they award those big contracts.
  3. So it would greatly help the national title prospects of the University of Arkansas to move into the Big12. For Nebraska it's a almost a wash. But OU cannot play itself. So they would be moving tier 1 opponents onto their path with a move to an adjacent conference. So the noisiest fan base about CR is trying to make it harder on themselves. Clemson is in the same boat, but their fans seem to know that you don't mess with a good thing.
  4. I bet if you ran the numbers you would find the two conferences are basically equal and the rest are pretty close. I'd say the only outliers in terms of making the playoff are a non-Bama SECw team (hard) and Clemson (easy).
  5. Without looking I'd guess the Hawkeyes have more wins over anOSU than Michigan, lately. I wonder about the contract value of an exclusive right to the field telegraph .
  6. Hard to say on the schedule. OU/UT = anOSU/PSU. But ask Ohio State what it's like to play Wiscy and @Iowa on a regular basis. That may be the reason ND scheduled the Badgers at neutralish sites, Lambeau and Soldier Field. But it's easy to say with the money. Has any school not named Notre Dame voluntarily taken a pay cut for a better conference culture fit? And when we turned down the BUG in the late 90s, there was not a crystal clear contractual 8-digit sum in play.
  7. Many people don't realize that the legal definition of domestic violence was mushroomed to include violence against property or crimes against relatives and in-laws. Read your states statutes or some lawyer's blog.
  8. Solich was solid but never won the MAC championship. UTn (Toledo) has produced Nick Saban, Tim Beckman, and Matt Campbell Miami of OH (cradle of coaches) Paul Brown, Carmen Cozza, Weeb Ewbank, Ara Parseghian, Earl Blaik, Woody Hayes, Bo Schembechler, and Jim Tressel. (thanks Wikipedia) Urban Meyer spent one year at Bowling Green. Brian Kelly's first FBS job was at Central Michigan.
  9. U need an agreeable conference in which to park the other sports.. Which is basically what UT has now. The only thing you have to do is shed your 9th conference game and/or CCG rematch.
  10. Maybe by the broadest definition. But QT's religious obsession with film history keeps him partly on the rails.
  11. Hello. I tested the waters in the middle because it was so long. So I started about when Pitt picks up the tramp. It was good enough that next time it was on I tuned in for the first half. Tarentino's quirky screenplays are fun but not 3 hrs w/o commercials fun.
  12. Nebraska is THE wandering eyes tale in CR. Even though it's apt, no one under 60 understands the same analogy with Arkansas.
  13. The BCS appeared as it would allow a Boise State to play for the national title but we eventually found out the system had been gamed by the big conferences. I think this proposed bloating has the same effect. You may think a BYU can now play its way. But actually they now have to win the equivalent of three major bowl games in a row against more talented teams. That's not happening. This is a give away to 2017 Auburn or 2013 Bama. They now get a second mulligan to fart away games without blowing their chances for a title. I don't think I'll ever watch an Iron Bowl again.
  14. It's a little harder to idolize a man of zero national titles.
  15. I think we picture them wearing black rain coats because of a police sketch made of a real life perv, that happened on a rainy day.
  16. When you feed the troll you just get more troll.
  17. Yeah thanks for downvoting me and then building a wall of text that proves the point. There's too many teams playing too few games to say that a knock out tournament tells you who had the best season. This is a money grab that honors those who run good in the post-season
  18. What is this High School National Championship? Something that big would have to be voted on, just as college football is too spread out and diverse for an orderly post-season tournament. That national title in college football answered the question Who had the best season? No one has bothered to pose that question for HS Football. But everyone can understand why picking X teams to play in a tournament does not answer it.
  19. Actually Savvy Jack is acting like a former Big Law Partner, because that's what he was. I don't think you have to work with how college football organizes a governing body. The issue is that governing body can no longer exist for the purpose of keeping labor cheap to enrich itself. For at least 50 years we said the magic word 'amateurism' to explain away how the NCAA was allowed to suppress the athletes to protect its own revenue stream. SCOTUS says that spell is broken.
  20. Unanimous means the scope of the decision is very narrow. This issue seems to have been delineated with a laser. But the writing is on the wall, and everyone knew it was coming.
  21. If an employee gets disabled on the job then his employer+insurance co is on the hook for the rest of that worker's life.
  22. At this point nobody's is disputing Dr Anderson's guilt, and his life can't be ruined much since it's already over. What is in dispute is "B0 Knew" and therefore 'The Michigan Taxpayer Owes Me Big Money.'
