  1. I’ve never read any SK, but have read this whole thread. I do not consider myself to be a big fan or horror, but I like drama and classic works. Also, I’m remembering that my first books read as a child were from the Goosebumps series, which I assume was influenced by SK. I’m perhaps in an enviable position for a newb as I have not seen the movie adaptations, or if I have, it’s been at least ten years, so it’ll all be pretty fresh and untainted. I want to read at least 3-5 of his books, so below is the loose plan. I think I’m going to start with IT then 11/22/63 and slot in Carrie either after or before these two. I might try to squeeze in the Duma Key audiobook since I’m curious to hear John Slattery’s narration (generally prefer to read than listen). I also have Pet Sematary and Different Seasons slotted high on the list. My general reading list is extensive so this will probably take a while.
  2. I could see that for sure. I'm on a reading schedule (80-100 pages every two weeks), reading it with my mom and my sisters.

    Whatcha reading?

Just finished The Hobbit. I loved the first chapter, “An Unexpected Party.” My main read right now is The Power Broker, but I’m reading it as part of a family book club schedule that is allowing room for some other reads. I’m reading Cinema Speculation (Quentin Tarantino’s musings about the 70’s cinema he grew up on). I’m taking my time with this one as I’m watching some of the movies that are referenced. I’m half-way through The Friends of Eddie Coyle, which was adapted into a movie in the 70’s that was mentioned in Cinema Speculation. It’s a crime drama about an arms dealer in Boston. The whole book is dialogue. Once I finish The Friends of Eddie Coyle, I think I will go on to A Gentleman in Moscow based on recommendations in this thread also from a family member.
  4. I have listened to the first episode, which is as far as I am in the book so far and enjoyed it. It was cool that they were able to get Caro on the pod.
  5. Turn Every Page - The Adventures of Robert Caro and Robert Gottlieb. It's available on Criterion Channel, which offers a free trial. It's about Robert Caro, one of the best biographers of all-time, and his long-time editor, Scott Gottlieb, who has edited a ton of classic books. Caro wrote The Power Broker and The Years of Lyndon Johnson. I had not read any of the books when I watched the documentary. Now I'm reading The Power Broker.
  6. Devastating news. I had the Season Pass and had three locations either close to my apartment or office. Brutal!
  7. Glad I asked. I feel good about the start with Rogue Nation plan.
  8. I saw the first Mission Impossible as a kid, haven't seen any of the sequels. I see that the latest is getting good reviews and I want to watch it. Is there any value in binge watching all of the previous Mission Impossible movies or should I just watch the latest one?
  9. Cameron Blazevich made a deep run in the WSOP Main Event, finished 32nd ($263k cash). He plays a ton of live cash in Austin, I'm sure some of y'all have played with him before. https://www.pokernews.com/tours/wsop/2022-wsop/main-event/chips.515812.htm
  10. Tough. He’s been the best in the Houston market for a long time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Anyone watch For All Mankind? It was Sepinwall’s #1 show for 2021, but I don’t see much mention of it in here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. Really enjoyed the first two seasons. Recently picked up for a third season. Huzzah! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Meyers ended up getting scratched, McCormick starting in CF. Would have liked to have seen Castro get the start, unless Greinke specifically wanted to pitch to Maldonado.
  14. Sad that I missed St Stephen > The Eleven by one day, I was at the Dallas show. The Dallas show was great though.
  15. Thanks for posting this, I look forward to watching. I didn't realize Dead & Co played Eleven til I saw this set list for this show last week. I don't recall ever seeing a set list I like as much as the 2nd set+ encore. Werewolves as the encore... some Playin', St Stephen > William Tell > Eleven... love it.
  16. The below is from the Run It Once MTT From the Ground Up course with Owen Shiels. Stacksize breakdown in BB's: - Very short stack (0-8) - Jamming stack (8-15) - Rejamming stack (15-25) - Mid stack (25-50) - Mid/deep stack (50-100) - Deep stack (100+) Very short stack (0-8bb): - Need to make a move very soon - Looking for any +EV spot - All-in preflop - No fold equity rejamming Jamming Stack (8-15bb): aka shove/fold stack 0-15 bb's - Short but not desperate - Can pick our spots more carefully - Some fold equity rejamming - Often want to jam when we VPIP but have other options Rejamming stack (15-25bb) - 3b Shoving very profitable - Denying our opponents equity - Be aware opponents get to rejam on us too! When we do open without jamming - Raise-fold gap - Open for normal raise size - Preflop flatting range - mainly high card hands Mid stack (25-50bb) - Mostly too deep to 3b jam - Best stack size for 4b jamming (and against!) - Deep enough to 3b fold - Get it in range gets tighter - Can call preflop (high card/mid suited cons/pairs) - Position important
  17. Pretty much my dream setlist there as Touch of Grey and PITB are the two songs I want to see Live most.
  18. Anyone interested in playing in an online home game? We've been running for over a year and a half now. 160+ members. Rake free. I'm attaching an upcoming event. We also have a regular three tourneys per week schedule and monthly high buy-in tourney (23 players this month). Run the occasional 6-max $1/2 cash game as well. PM me for details.
  19. “The only known execution since the capital’s Sunday takeover was of Abu Omar Khorasani, the former head of Islamic State in South Asia, who was taken by the Taliban from an Afghan government prison and killed on the spot, according to officials. A photo of his body was later posted on social media.” Anyone know why the Taliban executed this terrorist? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
