  1. Hell no - the chant only works on the cult if the words are all the same.
  2. Jive, how da you know so much about Frisco? Sorry. Couldn't help myself ...
  3. Liz Cheney with a truth bomb in contravention to Trump policy (quoting Seth Gottlieb no less). I'm stunned.
  4. There is absolutely going to be a resurgence of Central American hordes in October, this time all coming with COVID-19, intent on infecting any Texans that survive Dotard and DP's initial purge. BE AFRAID!
  5. While Boris is still an asshole, at least he's not a fucking idiot**: ** At least now that he's given up on the ridiculous herd immunity nonsense.
  6. That's pretty consistent with the early CDC feedback from last week. See bottom of the page here: https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6912e2.htm And, yes, it's absolutely terrifying. A lot of people in the 45-54 range just assumed their odds of survival are pretty good - only 0.5-0.8% are dying. Of course, that assumes you get a ventilator. Otherwise, your mortality rate will be somewhere in the 5-10% range. Not so remote ...
  7. Wait - I thought all of this was better left to the states, right? So now the federal gov't wants to be able to swoop in and start arresting people for the good of public safety? I'm sure none of these arrested would share cells with COVID-19 patients ...
  8. Let me know when karma actually catches up with one of these lying assholes. I'm tired of being teased.
  9. And the White House - don't forget the White House.
  10. I'd say Burr, Loeffler and Inhofe are all cooked politically - making multiple sales all starting around 1/27 looks extra shitty. Johnson just sold one position at the start of March, so he might be able to explain it away, even though it's a huge amount.
  11. The end is nigh ... WTF is happening around here?
  12. Come on now. He's definitely going to make "Jina" pay for this. It's easy - more tariffs! See, Trump has been building up the trade deficit with Jina just so that he can make them pay the bailout through more tariffs. 4D chess, MFers!
  13. Holy shit - just got the video to come through with sufficient detail to confirm that OAN did, in fact, trot probably their only Asian reporter out there to ask that question. "See - it ain't racist! That was one of them thar O-reeee-ental types asking that question. Caaaan't be racist now." I refuse to get sucked into the "racist or no" debate, but had to chuckle that their tactics are so fucking transparent.
  14. Exactly. He's 100% doing this to rile up his base, and everyone bitching about it is just playing into his game (AGAIN). If China's withholding cooperation because of this, just say he should cut it out because he's fucking up our ability to respond to the crisis.
  15. Holy shit - not sure how many days we'll see where the market finishes down a Trump and a quarter. Definitely need to get the chart for today signed by Dotard ...
  16. Definitely this - it's the new "No puppet, no puppet, you're the puppet." (I.e. "I don't do more. I don't do more. You do more."
  17. That would be the rational response. Of course, we have a Russian agent with a toddler's temperament in the WH though, so it certainly won't be that - more likely that it's either nothing or a full-out nuclear strike (if he feels like he needs a distraction that he can turn up to 11).
  18. I was using the data here: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ They have the log graph here as well. If you look close, there's a really modest bend downward over the last day or two (which amounts to about 75 fewer cases than my exponential trendline at 3/15). The quality of the data is a bit questionable so probably not worth reading too much into it.
  19. Good point - the very modest slowdown (relative to the trendline) that I saw is probably a function of a subset of the population using a modicum of common sense rather than the more recent governmental efforts.
  20. Just for kicks, I took the data from the following website: https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/country/us/ for the period from March 1 - March 14th and ran a trendline to see how close an exponential formula matched up with the recent data. The resulting formula was: Infections = 72.847 exp(0.2865 x n), where n = the number of days 3/1/20 with an rsq = 0.9989, so a pretty tight match. Plug in n=30 for the projected number of infections by March 31 - 393,707 cases. So, yeah, we better hope that our social distancing efforts (and any other factors that we may luck into) make a difference, or we're pretty much fucked pretty quickly. If you want to see the impact of efforts to curb the spread of the disease, the website offers a logarithmic graph option for the total cases - no impact = a straight line on the log graphs, effective efforts cause the log graph to bend downward. The US data trend is starting to bend down over the last day or two, so hopefully this demonstrates the impact of the recent shutdowns of large gatherings / businesses in the U.S. ** Obviously, this is an extremely simplistic analysis, and there are a lot of factors that come into play in modeling this stuff out, but it's eye-opening. I wish people understood even the basic math involved.
  21. Even in this timeline, that's too stupid to be real. Russian bots?
  22. MJ Hegar or someone with a lot of followers should tweet this in reply to Cornyn's beer tweet. Shouldn't he be fucking doing something, given this is in HIS state? Such a worthless piece of shit.
  23. I agree with this. I have no problems whatsoever with them providing good faith estimates to open people's eyes. My objection was to them disclosing numbers without explaining to which model these results related, especially if there was a wide spread among the results of the models (which I kind of expected). For comparison: Stories were circulating earlier that Congress had been briefed that between 70-150m people in the US would likely be infected. Another epidemiologist (Michael Osterholm) projected around 96m infections in the US with ~480,000 deaths . I found Osterholm's interview with Joe Rogan pretty intriguing (estimates about 1:30-2:15) :
  24. Yeah, I read that article this morning, and it seemed pretty irresponsible the way it was reported. It mentions that their were A, B, C and D models prepared, and "one of them" showed these results. I suspect that was the "we do absolutely nothing" model, but it was totally silent beyond it being one of several approaches. That's the type of thing that's going to warrant some accusations of them being click-baity in some of their stories. For those that are curious, the excerpt from the story is included below.
  25. Dow finishes up almost a full Trump (2000 pts), spurred on by the market's love for the pending corporate welfare. Good plan making sure that the Q&A happened after the market closed. He better hope investors forget this part by Monday.
