  1. Yes, this is a big part of the stopwatch use. I think the standard was anything over 3 to 3.5 seconds was considered slow and a good candidate to steal on. You can time the entire process on a steal, pitcher delivery and catcher time to complete a throw to second. This can be subjective though because depending on the pitch and location it's going to affect that time. A breaking pitch in the dirt is going to be slower than a high fastball. Whether a batter swings or not is going to make a slight difference. The stopwatch use was like an early use of analytics that are used and sometimes to me overused as in shifts of all kinds on defense. It's just something used to hopefully get an edge over the opposition. Stealing signs was probably the earliest way to try to get an edge and of course still going on today. It's all part of what people think is a simple game, it's really not if you know what is going on. With every pitch somebody is communicating with somebody on defense and offense through signs and now modern technology.
  2. I think the better statement might be no matter if anybody didn't agree with him being fired, it was still going to happen. That anybody that knows about the University of Texas should understand that.
  3. It's a stopwatch. He can time a runner going to first. He can time a pitcher's move to first. Anything he wants to time.
  4. No, they don't, the football team turned it around and if Lagway hadn't got injured they would have been much better, they were beating Gorgia till his injury and then an injury to their starting running back. When he got back, they beat Ole Miss and kept them out of the playoffs, then won a bowl game. Going to Gainesville and facing them next season will be no picnic. As far as their baseball team that was ranked #11 and will still be ranked top top twenty or better. They opened up their SEC season against #1 Tennessee and then #4 Georgia, they will be just fine. Every team has to face this SEC conference guantlet.
  5. They kept it up long enough, looks like the fighting Beards are headed to the Sweet Sixteen. They were a horrible program when he arrived, yeah somebody will take him at a better place.
  6. Well, I was repeating what was said and giving a hypothetical, so sorry to rile you.
  7. We need that poster on here called JackHandey for motivation. I'm sure he has some "Deep Thoughts" to offer.
  8. They look pretty healthy to me, must be all the omega 3 they get. 2, 1, 3, and I give the catfish a 1 on the filet scale, nice catfish steaks there, would make a good fish fry.
  9. Would Miller bring Swain and or Conwell with him? Would Texas want them?
  10. Grubbs says hello, it could be interchangeable.
  11. Texas wanted to hire Miller last time but circumstances and the fact he lost to Texas and Terry it didn't happen. This time Miller beat Texas and Terry, and he got the job. So, if Texas and Terry had beaten Miller and Xavier, which they should have. Then Texas loses to Illinois in the first round, which most likely would have happened. Does Texas still name Miller as head coach, if Terry was fired. Would seem a little awkward.
  12. Noodling must really keep you in good shape.
  13. Really flipped the switch midway through last night's game and it just continued into today. Texas became dominant and I would like to think coaching had an effect. As we talked about the batting approach became different and the offense came to life. The pitching looked different too. They had command and that is made the difference today. Even when Volantis lost his mechanics in the ninth, a Weiner visit straightened him out. Big series win that can do nothing but give this team confidence in themselves and the coaching staff, which they probably already had.
  14. He's at Rice now. We would have gotten swept by LSU most likely instead being poised to win this series over a top team. Last night was the first win over a top five team since 2021.
  15. Also, a lefty batter leaves that play wide open to the catctcher.
  16. I don't know about that with Belyeu up.
  17. It's very close, depending on what angles they have. If they can't see it, though you can't overturn it.
  18. Kind of obvious that he wanted to get thrown out. Wouldn't think LSU would need that kind of motivation stuff.
  19. I wonder if anybody has talked to Rodriguez about just hitting lefty all the time for now. He can just rake batting lefty, can't believe he would that bad against lefty pitching.
  20. It's also kind of why it was a bad idea to bring Riojas back after five great innings of work.
  21. Thanks, all world freshman, you can't try for that play in that situation.
  22. I mean after the throw, as an infielder he can't control the throw from the catcher.
  23. I thought that would be a sure double, that left fielder was quick, but I thought Farmer would try for it, with his speed.
  24. It was the safe play, but if whoever is covering second comes and meets the throw and with momentum comes back to the plate, he had real shot for the out.
