  1. 6:30 start for the start of ESPN broadcast, 6:48 kickoff.
  2. Didn't Corso pick Texas to win it all? He has to pick Texas.
  3. I hope Wisner is healthier tonight; he seemed still dinged up with that knee injury against Clemson. He wasn't breaking tackles and seemed to go down easier than usual. The O-line is going to have to step up blocking for him and Ewers to give Texas a shot. Sideline reporter Rutledge said Wisner told her that none of us are 100% at this point. It's been the longest season in Texas history, so that's easy to believe.
  4. A healthy Bond would have made a difference in the passing game. He was the leading receiver till the high ankle sprain injury. Should have just set him down till he got well. Instead, he kept playing and went from the leading receiver on the team to almost nothing. His world class speed opened things up for Helm and Golden underneath. He should have been set down and allowed to get well. He would have been a great weapon during the last third of the regular season and the playoffs. He plays without that elite speed, and he just keeps reinjuring the ankle, that has done nothing for the passing game. Seemed like a big mistake by the coaching staff to me.
  5. Fair catch at the two-yard line is an interesting tactic by Pedo.
  6. I said give him an option, if he doesn't want to come back or take the option, then move on forever for both parties.
  7. What if Beard gave a press conference and made a full apology for what happened and answered all questions on the matter of his arrest. Give Beard this option for returning to Texas. Aren't these same people that want to pounce the same people that champion giving people a second chance in life?
  8. Only reason Aggy didn't get the Death Penalty was because of the Repercussions it had on SMU athletics. The NCAA didn't want to do that again any time soon and not to a major program. At one time Aggy was on major probations in three major sports and were the poster child of lack of institutional control which was the definition for getting it. They were constantly on probation during this time of dominance, tried to follow the OU plan, but wasn't nearly as successful. From the LA Times: Advertisement Sports Texas A&M; Banned From Bowl and TV for One Year : College football: NCAA penalty is lighter than one Pac-10 imposed on Washington. By DANNY ROBBINS Jan. 6, 1994 12 AM PT Share TIMES STAFF WRITER The NCAA sent a stern message Wednesday to one of its oft-troubled members, Texas A&M;, taking the unusual step of placing the school on probation for five years as a result of rules violations involving the Aggies’ football program. Only two other schools--Southeastern Louisiana and Upsala College--have received probationary periods of a similar duration from the NCAA. Despite the lengthy probation, Texas A&M; was given relatively light sanctions by the NCAA Committee on Infractions, which issued its ruling after a yearlong investigation by the NCAA enforcement staff and university officials. Advertisement The Aggie football team was barred from playing in a bowl game or appearing on television during the 1994 season. However, Texas A&M; was spared other sanctions, such as cuts in scholarships and recruiting visits. Texas A&M; players were found to have benefited from a scheme in which a booster arranged jobs requiring little or no work. A similar scheme was a central element of the Pacific 10 Conference’s case against Washington last year. That case resulted in a ruling by the conference in which the Huskies were barred from bowl appearances for two seasons. Advertisement The Aggies, Southwest Conference champions the last three years, finished the 1993 season 10-2 after a 24-21 loss to Notre Dame in the Cotton Bowl. Speaking at a news conference in College Station, Tex., E. Dean Gage, the university’s interim president, said: “This issue is a single, isolated case, and we regret that this incident will impact negatively thousands . . . who were in no way involved and who are totally committed and supportive of the university’s compliance and institutional control.” Texas A&M; Coach R.C. Slocum told reporters he was pleased to have the matter resolved because of the recruiting implications. Advertisement “We don’t have to hear all the wild speculation and innuendo,” he said. Nine Aggie players, including star tailback Greg Hill, were found to have received nearly $18,000 in unearned wages from 1990-92 as a result of their employment at apartment complexes operated by Warren A. Gilbert Jr., a Dallas developer. Gilbert was president of the university’s athletic support group--the 12th Man Foundation--at the time the infractions occurred. The NCAA also found that the university showed a lack of institutional control over its football program by failing to monitor appropriately its jobs program for athletes. The ruling marks the seventh time that Texas A&M; has received public sanctions because of athletic rules violations--a factor in the Committee on Infractions’ decision to impose such a lengthy probationary period. The NCAA placed the Aggie football program on two years' probation in 1988 for infractions that occurred during the coaching tenure of Jackie Sherrill, who was later forced to resign. Texas A&M; could have received the NCAA’s so-called “death penalty” for repeat violators, and, according to the Committee on Infractions’ report, the panel gave serious consideration to applying such a sanction. However, the committee backed off because of several factors, including the relatively limited scope of the infractions and the university’s attempt to investigate fully.
  9. Linda Cohn is 65 years old and still anchoring SportsCenter on ESPN for a reason. She was one of the OGs for sex scandal talk there.
  10. Aggy and OU are both middle of the pack SEC teams that will probably split their series, both winning at home.
  11. Beard and Ole Miss take down Arkansas in Fayetteville 73-66.
  12. I doubt Barnes will, but Deloss Dodds is a better bet.
  13. Aggy smells blood finally and they are going to take advantage of it. Half empty Moody and or it full of opposing fans will say more to CDC than an abysmal losing record, although that should speak volumes too. Lots of Aggies around so easy to do.
  14. We will see how long that lasts once the roster turns over after this season. Lots of competition in recruiting in the SEC and will see how Earley does.
  15. If I remember correctly, they were "getting freaky" with the in-house sex scandals at ESPN way before Fox was a thing.
  16. They did it to hold the roster together and to do what Aggy always does, try to turn a loss into some kind of moral victory against evil Texas. "Look Texas didn't get our players or our best and most loyal coach, that gets Texas A&M." It's a one-year gamble by Aggy that will blow up in their face if it doesn't pay off with a really great season. The only thing Earley got was all of a sudden, he got a big promotion and pay raise to be head coach of a very talented team. He was all in on going to Texas till it happened. I don't think he will be "whooping" and "squeezing" in the dugout. No pressure though Mike ole buddy, none at all.
  17. I think it's already blown up. Can't compete unless someone just goes off on offense, that can't keep happening. Johnson has gone south because he is now being guarded by players as athletic as him, on good teams. Team gets abused on the inside and on the boards. Still fouling way too much and can't stop the dribble drives to the rim. Both teams tonight were sloppy and showed little basketball IQ toward the end, but the fouling decisions by Texas in the last minute of play was particularly bad.
  18. Tennessee going to come in mad after that blowout loss. Weaver getting hurt is not good.
  19. Texas can't even foul right.
  20. Why foul there Shedrick?
  21. Auburn looks like they get bored and just ramp it back up it they need too. Pearl looks like this a scrimmage game on the sideline.
  22. Nothing like flat footed blocks against your center and Johnson is finding out that life is different against good teams.
  23. Men against boys, it's like the UConn game, except Auburn is more athletic.
  24. It is South Carolina, they are horrible but might give Texas a game at home.
