  1. You can’t quit me, can you, Wildcat? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Sean Brock is no longer a part of the group, though we dined at Husk in Greenville sometime after he left, and it was fantastic. In Charleston, McCrady’s and Minero upstairs permanently closed within the last couple of months. Minero will reopen on one of the nearby islands. RIP McC’s—one of the finest prix fixe menus I’ve ever experienced
  3. Literally—in the figurative sense— just spat out my beer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Almost have Playa del Carmen, New Years 2020 accommodations finalized, staying the Saturday before to Saturday after. Hoping to piggyback on this thread. Went a few years ago and stayed in an AI, but this time we’re on our own for meals/drinks. Also looking to tack on a few days in CDMX on either end. Any recs would be appreciated... 6. I live within a 5 minute walk to 10 minute drive of all of those. You picked a fun part of town Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Allen & Son original location in Hillsborough is no more. Please refer to this for NC ‘cue joints that use only wood: http://www.truecue.org/true-cue-nc/
  8. Recipe from Chef Cristina Brino, a Malmann protege who led a cooking class we went to at Finca Adalgisa in Mendoza.
  9. I grew up in Wilmington and graduated from Chapel Hill. Live in Charlotte now. Charlotte is a great city and am glad to be here, but if I were to pick any other city in NC in which to live, it would be Durham. Asheville is great to visit, but living there would drive me nuts.
  10. What time are you planning to go? It’s a tiny space, and last time we went (on a Friday last September to be exact), and they quoted a 3 hour wait when we arrived at 11:30am for lunch. I’d say get there early, but we walked right in later that night around 7:15 and sat at the raw bar... We’re heading back on a Sunday in a few weeks for small Monday wedding, and we have to be back home to move the next day, but 167 Raw is the only must do on our trip. It’s completely worth it
  11. Thanks, 6S! This is why I pay dues here. As far as Crater Lake, is that a day trip, or should we try to stay on the lake or camp there?
  12. No shit. Everything is on the other side! That’s why I’d do it in reverse
  13. Heading out at the end of August for almost 2 weeks. Starting out in SF midweek, then Berkeley for a few days (UNC vs Cal to open the season on Sat September 1). Sunday, we’re heading to wine country, then Tuesday or Wednesday, my wife and I are splitting from the other couple we’re going with and driving up the coast, finishing in Portland. I’ve never been North of LA when on the West Coast, so any recs of restaurants, vineyards, breweries, and places to stay in Napa and up the coast would be appreciated. Any advice on Sonoma vs Napa? Stops between Northern California wine country and Portland? Thoughts on National Park/state parks? I also really want to rent a fun car for the drive, but I only know of Turo for that and would prefer not having to return a car from Portland to the Bay Area. Thanks!
  14. anything at 167 Raw, but especially the Lobster Roll
  15. how we gonna tell who’s really who?
  16. I can see them, but I’m on a mobile browser, so they may be shit on a desktop
