  1. Shaka must have signed an extension or a new contract with another school after the last game. That's the only explanation I have for this abomination.
  2. We are going to shoot more desperation 3s now as if we weren't doing it enough to this point. The score is likely to get worse.
  3. Shaka is making it an easy layup for CDC to fire him after this shitshow. Hope CDC doesn't take a contested 3 pointer instead.
  4. This team is so painful to watch. There is no way an AD looks at this team and blames bad luck for the record they have had.
  5. Do we have any inside game? Is that something they practice?
  6. Shaka's teams are good for a short lived run once every few years. This team just had its.
  7. We practice social spacing around the perimeter before jacking up a 3. We are the only team in the country that's doing something about containing the Corona virus. I would be upset if our team doesn't win some kind of award for good citizenship.
  8. Texas fired Rick Barnes who made the tournament year in and year out. Now some of us think Shaka deserves to be our coach just because a late season run to save his job might let the horns sneak in to the tournament. Talk about resetting expectations lower!
  9. Rick Barnes, who coached at Providence, did great things at Texas before he got lazy. We need Billy Donovan, a Providence alum, to take Texas to new highs. I am all in for Billy.
  10. ESPN seems to think Shaka might leave on his own given that his stock is rising as of late and he might not want to be on the hot seat next season. Hope this happens. Here is the quote: 2. Texas is the situation that will dictate most of the coaching carousel. A couple of weeks ago, it looked highly unlikely that Shaka Smart had any chance of keeping his job; the Longhorns lost by 29 to Iowa State and were 4-8 in the Big 12. They then ripped off a five-game winning streak, including wins over West Virginia, Texas Tech and Oklahoma. So it is no longer a guarantee there will be an opening in Austin -- although Smart could choose to leave on his own and avoid being on the hot seat for yet another season. If it does open, it'll be the job opening that attracts the best candidates this spring. There already have been rumors of inquiries into some of the biggest names in the sport, and we're bound to hear Billy Donovan's name connected at some point (even though he's going to be in the NBA playoffs and therefore isn't leaving anytime soon). Texas Tech's Chris Beard is going to end up as the top target when all is said and done, but he's not a lock to take it, potentially leaving Wichita State's Gregg Marshall or John Beilein as options. 3. If Smart does leave -- whether by being fired or departing on his own -- he'll immediately be a sought-after candidate for a number of jobs. Clemson would be an option, given his time as an assistant coach there from 2006 to 2008, but that's not a guarantee to open. He could be a name at Wake Forest or Georgia Tech, and is also rumored to be a potential target at Boston College. Despite his recent struggles, Smart is still going to be considered a buzzy hire for any team that has had a few down seasons. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/insider/story/_/id/28831854/your-guide-2020-college-basketball-coaching-carousel
  11. Do we still want Shaka gone if he makes the tournament and wins a game? Does he need more time? He has shown nothing to suggest to me that he is the guy for Texas, the current winning streak notwithstanding.
  12. Texas will fuck LSU up and create a lot national buzz early in the year. Ogre will revert back to mean and up with 4-5 losses. Herman's team will be cocky by the middle of the season and lose a game they shouldn't.
  13. If this game "means a lot for Texas," does it mean Tech doesn't want to be there?
  14. Shaka is not capable of running a program that wins consistently, as has been noted by others. His teams can put together a run here and there when cornered but more often than not they will fold and quit much like the coach. A smart guy like CDC should clearly see this tendency and make a change unless there is bigger plan in place due to the ongoing facilities upgrades. Perhaps CDC wants to give him a chance to hire an assistant to improve the offense, much like what he did with Herman and his stuff. I feel like if we crawl in to the tourney or even come very close to it, Shaka gets another year. Hire a new assistant to sell hope to the fans while mitigating the buyout hit. If there isn't progress next year, CDC axes him and brings in a new coach along with the unveiling of the new arena.
  15. Ask Matt Rhule. We have no excuse to lose more than 1-2 games a year playing in this league where we outmatch every team but OU when it comes to talent.
  16. The Brocks have always talked up the school they had just visited. Doesn't mean they are going to commit there - it's just that they are very respectful of the all the schools that host them, and yet 9:95ers fall for it every time. Don't pay attention to what they say now. It's really simple as it comes to Texas' chances with them - win 10+ games and we land them; win 8 or less, and the class starts to disintegrate along with the football program.
  17. We are so bad in basketball ... it's as if we don't have a coach!
  18. With his job on the line, he calls up three consecutive Matt Coleman dribble up to the teeth of the Tech defense with no plan to kick out or find an open man. He puts all con artists to shame. How are these types of coaches able to fool the administration of the biggest athletic program in the country year after year and collect millions?
  19. If we make it to the CFP this year, I don't think we would match up well against Clemson or Ohio State. When those teams are playing for a spot in the final, they can blow out an overmatched opponent like Texas. Even if we win the Big 12 this year, we would still be a year or two away from competing at the highest level.
  20. We win the Big 12 and get picked as the #4 seed. Then we go on to lose badly to Ohio State or Clemson, prompting Luicci to proclaim BDF a joke and that Herman is way over his head. Surly bitches about offensive play calling and the defense is labeled 3rd and Ash. Fans tweet at CDC asking for staff changes. CTJ writes an essay on how close CDC was to firing Tom and the money was there for him to use.
  21. I hate my horns to lose any game but didn't mind this loss as much because I ddn't want CDC to have an excuse to keep this loser another year.
  22. He may end up transferring if Florida falters and/or if he doesn't see too much playing time. He strikes me as someone who is chasing the latest shining object.
  23. "Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars." Shoot for being a top 10 team, you end up being a top 20 team. Our goal should be to become the top team in the country in every sports we care about and then perhaps we can build a top 5-10 program, and with some luck, we can win it all. Our problem is, and has always been, that we target too low to begin with.
