  1. Yeah we already know that answer but I get Pierce trying to give a Senior as many opportunities as possible
  2. Interesting O’Dowd is getting the start against a Lefty
  3. This team has to much talent to continue to trot O’Dowd out there every game
  4. Should be a lot of tinkering with 4-9 in the lineup over the next 4 games.
  5. Casey Cummings in the doghouse or something?
  6. Hopefully this is the spark that lights the fire, a lot of pressure on the young man and given his reserved nature he seems to be very hard on himself. Tonight performance gives you confidence you can't fake. Little running game tonight, didn't flinch, made good decisions and took care of the ball.
  7. Most of Quinn’s passing yards were YAC. That isn’t a knock either as a lot of that is good play design and Quinn getting the ball where it needs to go. He still has absolutely no feel for the deep ball. He throws the ball to the sky instead of down the field and I’m not sure why. Rice put us in a box and had a pretty good game plan, they just have no where near enough talent for it to have mattered. A big reason the run game struggled is because Rice had zero concern for any ball with more than 15 air yards on it, and that belief only strengthened with every deep ball Quinn threw. If Quinn looks the same in Tuscaloosa and Sark is reluctant to give Malik a shot, the defense will have to give a Herculean effort just to keep the game close.
  8. Either Sark has the balls to put Malik in, or he will be looking for another job
  9. I think it would be funny if the Big 12 went and got Washington State, Oregon State, and Arizona while ASU and Utah got hung out to dry. Probably won’t happen but boy if it did it would be hilarious
  10. All things evolve over time, just like the bowl system pre-BCS evolved over time. You can agree or disagree with what it became, but personally I don't see anything wrong with that outcome. Just like you could say Alabama should have just beaten LSU if they wanted to win a National Title. I could easily say the same for Stanford and Iowa State. Pitting teams against each other in the best interest of the bottom line wasn't new to the BCS, it just happened to be the first time it resulted in two teams from the same conference playing against each other, and the further out rage was because they had already played. I don't think it was fair that 31 coaches voted Oklahoma the #1 team in the country to only 4 for Texas in 2008 but such is life. I just think the argument for Oklahoma State/Stanford is weak. Mostly because it is strictly based on what ifs that can only be countered by what ifs. ETA: I have always been a fan of underdogs getting their chance which is why I am excited for the 12 team playoff. In this case though I just think the argument for Oklahoma State and Stanford is weak.
  11. What is your argument for getting in though? Both Stanford and Okie State were ahead of Alabama until they lost. Stanford lost by 23 (53-30) at home to Oregon. You all lost to Iowa State on the road, an Iowa State who finished 6-7. Alabama lost 9-6 to the #1 team at home, a game where they missed 4 FGs. The closest game Alabama played all year was a 16 point road win against Penn State. Seems like the only argument (or at least the most used argument) for Ok State or Stanford is that they hadn't played LSU yet so they should get a shot. The goal posts have always moved and voters/CFP committee have always leaned on whatever data points fit their narrative for that season, I don't agree with it, but I don't think anybody would say Alabama wasn't the 2nd best team heading into the National Title game. Saying you didn't win your division or conference doesn't really matter to me at least. Do you think 2006 Nebraska was better than Texas? Texas won in Lincoln, why wasn't Texas in the conference championship game? What about 2004 Colorado? The Big 12 in the first decade of the 2000s is a perfect example of how awful divisions can be. I hate divisions, I think a 2008 Big 12 championship game between Texas and OU would have been pretty cool, or a 2004 Big 12 Championship game between Texas and OU. Divisions for a long time have often kept the two best teams in a conference from playing in a conference championship game (which was just added for extra revenue in the first place)
  12. I really don't get the outrage over 2011 when Alabama got a second chance. The only argument I've seen is people saying they should be punished for having already played LSU that year.
  13. North Carolina and Virginia are both better fits culturally in the SEC. I doubt the SEC would even consider VT and NC State. Virginia and North Carolina are probably the only two schools left that I could see the SEC adding if the ACC were to dissolve and even then they may not see a need for it. If the B1G is able to poach Florida State and Clemson, the SEC may feel a need to counter to get to 18 as well but the SEC will probably wait for that domino to fall
  14. Brayden will only be at whatever school he goes to for one year anyway.
  15. I think the Pac is in every man for themselves mode right now, just a waiting game to see who gets left without a chair
  16. You bring the Utah/BYU rivalry in conference. Plus the Big 12 almost certainly tries to get to 16 teams with the B1G and SEC soon to be sitting at 16. I could definitely see them punting Utah though and just trying to cast as wide a net as possible. I personally think Oregon is the biggest brand left, Big 12 would be stupid not to make them priority #1. I've never been a huge fan of Arizona and Arizona State, both athletic programs have fallen off hard recently, but everyone has their own taste. Either way this is going to be hilarious to watch unfold because several relatively "big" programs will get left holding the left over crumbs of a decimated lifeless PAC/MWC 2.0
  17. If you are the new Big 12 you probably full court press Washington, Oregon, and Utah. Washington and Oregon are likely holding out for a B1G offer that personally I don't see coming. Pretty remarkable how awful the Pac 12 leadership was and is, all the way down to the school administrations.
  18. Elder had the same number of innings his Freshman year as Montgomery did in 2 seasons. Have to pitch to get better. Brayden has thrown the equivalent of 3.5 college baseball games. Feel comfortable saying there is a lot to be developed there. Especially when you are touching 98 and have 47 strikeouts in 32.2 innings.
  19. and… 47 strikeouts. That’s a 12.9 K/9. He has the tools to be a good pitcher. Especially out of the pen. If he wants to be a starter then that is a pipe dream. Bryce Elder gave up 40 hits and 18 walks in 35.2 innings his Freshman year. Guys get better
  20. Believe Brayden was touching 98 in that Regional. 100% you give him the opportunity to pitch even if its just to make him content and pick Texas. Hit .336 with 17 HRs, and 51 walks (next closest on the team was 38). Young man will have a field day hitting at the Disch.
  21. Yeah no one from Texas other than the Texas One Fund is following Molina. Would have loved to get an established Lefty starter to replace Gordon. With LBJ and Witt coming back I don't see much of a need for Holman. Would be a nice luxury but not a need. I said this in a post a couple weeks back but I really hope Chase Lummus gets some opportunities in the fall heading into next year. Feel like he fell victim to the fact that there are limited innings to go around in college baseball. Really like what he showed against OU.
