  1. There is just nothing about Duplantier that looks good. The worst part is Andre knows that too
  2. Buckle up. Don’t get why Pierce refuses to give Southard a start
  3. A lot of people refuse to enjoy the ride and would rather live and die by every 9 inning game
  4. We can get as high as 6th in the RPI and it’s not that far fetched all though unlikely. The hardest part will be us going 2-0 with our pitching depth. After that just need Vanderbilt to lose to Kentucky, Notre Dame to lose their next game, and North Carolina lose tonight or if they beat Virginia Tech, lose their next game after that.
  5. When you have played two teams that are playing each other the result can be a net negative. For example if Oklahoma wins they gain 1.9 points and West Virginia loses 3.1 points. If West Virginia wins they gain 1.8 and Oklahoma loses 3.2
  6. TCU is a perfect example of why a conference title isn’t necessarily the greatest barometer for determining postseason success. The regular season title is a nice achievement to have, hardware along the way, but they have little to no chance of making noise in the postseason.
  7. Pitt takes down Louisville dropping Louisville to 11th in the RPI
  8. And this win did exactly that. Lot of games left to be played today but that win moved Texas up to 16th, dropped Oklahoma State to 21st https://www.warrennolan.com
  9. That was beautiful. Will see if it leaps us in front of Okie State in the rpi
  10. This play by play guy must not want this job
  11. Big 12 likely gets only 2 hosts. TCU has one of those spots locked up for the most part unless they go 0-2 which could give the committee something to think about because the conference title is all they have to hang their hat on. The last host spot comes down to Oklahoma State and Texas in terms of the two that are capable of snagging a regional without winning the tournament. Thats why I made a previous post that it would be in Texas best interest if they got Oklahoma State game 1 of the tourney. Get the Big 12’s RPI #1 and potentially the outright champ in TCU game 2 with Pete and Lucas on the mound. If Texas wins those 2 I think they host without winning the tournament. I get that Texas struggled to find their footing after Witt went down but last I checked the beginning of the season still matters and having a great bullpen wasn’t a requirement to host. IMO it would be criminal if Texas finished with 40+ wins, 14-10 conference record, and possibly a top 20 RPI and didn’t host.
  12. Best case scenario for potentially grabbing a regional host is OU taking 2/3 so that we get Oklahoma State game 1 of the tourney
  13. He dominated because there was no scouting report on him. No reason every pitchers shouldn’t have some variation of a fastball, changeup, breaking ball. Most quality relievers at the major league level have 3. They may throw the 3rd less than 10% of the time but they have it, at the very least to put in the back of a hitters mind.
  14. Even if you have great command, two pitches is not a recipe for success. No pitcher at Texas should still only have two pitches at the end of their 2nd year.
  15. Two pitches are not just fine. Can it work if you have elite command? Yes. Does it work once teams have analytical data on how you like to attack with those two pitches? No. Also the two guys you mentioned both have 3 pitches.
  16. I will say in regards to Nixon, the fact that we are through his 2nd year and he still only has two pitches is a damning indictment on Pierce and Allen.
  17. Ivan is hitting .420+ now I believe with 25 HRs. If he doesn't win the golden spikes then...
  18. Postseason or no postseason, CWS run or regional exit, nothing but respect for the load Pete has had to carry since Witt went down. You hardly ever see a pitcher ridden like this in the regular season anymore
  19. He has Ty Madden potential. How he or Southard haven’t been given a start yet is mind blowing to me
  20. Right now a "woe is me" sit around and feel sorry for ourselves energy has definitely seemed to have taken over this team. That being said (and I know we just lost 2/3 to Kansas State) the weekend version of this team if playing there best can still make some noise. The depth; however, is going to make that road much more difficult. We'd be in a lot better shape with Witt on Sunday's and Gordon on Tuesday's but I guess it just wasn't in the cards.
  21. Justin Eckhardt: 24.1 IP, 1.56 WHIP, 7.03 ERA, 21 Ks, 9 BBs, .299 AVG against Andre Duplantier: 20.1 IP, 1.38, 6.64 ERA, 15 Ks, 10 BBs, .234 AVG against 10 starts combined and 44.2 innings. Jared Southard: 14 IP, 1.29 WHIP, 4.50 ERA, 19 Ks, 9 BBs, .180 AVG against (more than half his earned runs came off a GS against A&M where he was honestly getting fucked by the UMP on several calls) Lebarron Johnson Jr: 8.2 IP, 1.27 WHIP, 3.12 ERA, 11 Ks, 5 BBs, .188 AVG against 0 starts combined and 22.2 innings. He did this with Kameron Fields in 2019 although that year you could actually make the argument there was no other option. There is on reason we shouldn't be using the midweek games to develop guys with swing a miss stuff. Lebarron is probably the most comparable pitcher to Ty Madden on our staff. He has a similar fastball, the slider still need some work.
  22. Pierce is continually throwing Eckhardt, Duplantier, and Blair out there every week when they continually prove that they can't play at this level. I get it, we play 2 games against Air Force so you are just throwing bodies at this point. That being said it seems to be a theme where he seems to put personal relationships ahead of talent and ability (just my two cents from the outside looking in) because there really is no other explanation as to why Lebarron or Jared have not gotten a midweek start, yet Andre and Justin seem to get endless opportunities at the expense of the team. You always want a player led team, but not all are and sometimes you need a coach to step in and fill that gap when your best players aren't the most vocal and I doubt Pierce's ability to step in and fill that role like an Augie could. Not saying he needs to be fired by any means, this team can still accomplish something if Pierce would let it get healthy, no reason to play Eric until the postseason. Pete, Tristan (if he turns it around), and Lucas with our lineup could still get us to Omaha if they are clicking. The pitching depth during the week is going to make the road to Omaha much tougher because this team will be extremely lucky to host at this point.
  23. I don’t know what prompted this far out there rant but you do realize that baseball has 4 coaches? The only way to recruit is having connections in baseball unless you expect them to never sleep and even then there isn’t enough time in the day with how many kids play baseball across the country. Also don’t know how much you know based on the Messinger comment because Messinger is on record of saying the reason he came here was because of Tulo. He grew up in Colorado and Tulo was his idol. Had little to do with the Texas brand
  24. Slide into 2nd. Don't know what Daly was upset about, throw was up the first base side and he got there late, a clean slide into 2nd base if you ask me
