  1. I wouldn’t even blame this team for starting to wonder if just ain’t fucking meant to be lol.
  2. Marcus Olivarez: 6 app, 7 IP, 1.00 WHIP, 5 Ks, 0.00 ERA Coy Cobb: 7 app, 7.1 IP, .55 WHIP, 6 Ks, 1.23 ERA Luke Harrison: 12 app, 14.2 IP, 1.23 WHIP, 15 Ks, 1.84 ERA Why does Pierce continue to throw Nixon into house fires? Blows my mind... Give Nixon a clean inning with a 3 or 4+ run lead until he proves he has his control back.
  3. This shit where we sacrifice the good of the team for the sake of trying to build one individuals confidence has got to stop with Pierce
  4. This shit where we sacrifice the good of the team for one individuals confidence has got to stop with Pierce.
  5. Did you ask him if Murphy can close?
  6. Fuck you Pierce. 2 conference losses on you this year
  7. These are big ABs to make sure this kid can’t pitch tomorrow
  8. 2nd conference loss on Pierce unless there are some 9th inning heroics
  9. Pierce is just mind numbing at times with the decisions he makes
  10. Yeah it’s a pretty trash park run by one of the worst organizations in baseball. 70 degrees, not a cloud in the sky and the roof is closed…
  11. I’m at the game so hard to tell but is the strike zone high as hell today?
  12. Ain’t nothing getting out of here in the power alleys today.
  13. We need to hold on to Tulo for as long as possible, invaluable in terms of player development. Only a matter of time before he moves onward and upwards
  14. Need Skyler to put in a good word about Texas to Maui Ahuna.. Would be a nice replacement for Trey next year assuming he leaves
  15. He couldn't, but Tulo like he has done with a lot of guys since he got here, worked with him and turned him into a good hitter. Did away with his monster leg kick and he's started finishing his swings with 2 hands rather than the front footed, Michael Cantu, one armed flail we saw most of the beginning of the season. Quite the transformation
  16. Sweep is realistic. Thanks to OU won't really be much of a road series for Texas, they have two legitimate arms. If we can get passed Jake Bennett and play with a lead we won't see much of the 2nd (Michael Trevin). They have a good patient offense so if we come out not being able to find the strike zone, could get ugly. Need Pete to set the tone Friday
  17. For me its context, is it a 3-2 strike looking or is it 0-2, 1-2? If it's the former I don't have as much of a problem with it because the approach under Pierce has resulted in more guys getting on base. In order to draw a walk sometimes you will end up taking pitches that are questionable. The ones that are hard to stomach are the latter, can't walk down 0-2 so get the bat off your shoulder and battle. Only two guys on our team that have a strikeout/swing and miss issue are Hodo and Faltine. Trey you can stomach because of the AVG and power, plus he's changed his stance with 2 strikes to try and adjust. Hodo is probably the worst at the plate when it comes to swing and miss. Skyler was in this group until late, guy just flipped a switch.
  18. TCU lost 6-2 to Abilene Christian last night and 12-8 to UTSA tonight
  19. I would personally like to see him relieve his base coaching duties to Tulo but I’m afraid that will only be a reality in my dreams.
  20. It’s definitely not the norm. Just stating it’s not an excuse to not perform. Luke has been for the most part nails this year.
  21. Duplantier was the midweek starter from the start of the season until he was relieved of those duties after the College of Charleston loss because he was throwing BP. Lucas has started 5 games this year. A&M CC, UCLA, SC, UIW, and Texas Tech. He started the Wednesday game against Corpus Christi which means he was in essence the 5th starter. Andre started both Tuesdays prior to Tanner’s injury. If Andre was pitching like he did his first two starts of the season, this would be a non issue. He isn’t which has forced us to throw the farm during the week. Sthele and Harrison have been overused for Freshman? Aaron and Tanner were Freshman last year. By the end of the year we were a 3 man bullpen. Last year we just had the luxury of having a 4th starter, this year we lost that when Witt went down. Up to Allen and Pierce to get it fixed because the tools and pieces are there. Going back and forth as to the cause of the struggles is pointless because the result is the same, simply put, guys who have the ability simply aren’t performing. It’s not because Tanner Witt got hurt. Its fixable, we will just have to wait and see if it gets turned around.
  22. I just don’t see how losing Witt turned everybody in the bullpen into garbage. Going back and looking at the way the staff was setup at the beginning of the season, the only guy who has been effected in any significant way is Lucas because he went from late inning relief guy to Sunday starter. I’ll make the argument that the biggest reason our bullpen has started pressing and gone to shit is because Duplantier tanked. Went from supposed to be competitive Tuesday starter/late relief on a Saturday to can’t trust him to get an out with an 8 run lead. Andre IMO is the reason everybody has had to step up. You could say regardless of the cause the outcome is the same. I just don’t see the evidence supporting that this was a problem that existed all year or that Witt going down caused it. Travis was a big piece in a lot of our close wins early this season and has struggled late. That’s why I think it’s fixable and it starts with locating the ball down and getting ahead and counts. I personally think someone like Southard would benefit greatly by starting and having an opportunity to work through the struggles. Pierce already chalks Tuesday night games up to development, might as well develop the guy with the best stuff outside of Nixon and Witt. Don’t need a deep pen to win, just need Aaron to get back to last years form. If he can, him, Luke, Travis, Coy, and Marcus can give you enough innings to win or sweep a weekend
