  1. Hell of a job by Witt
  2. Not a fan of the way Pierce has managed and called this game
  3. Was just trying to knock Porter down as far as possible until he figures it out. I’d like to see Pierce give Casey a full game either Saturday or Sunday. If Porter figures it out at the plate again I’d slot him at 5 regardless of matchup but right now we are getting the guy TCU was comfortable letting transfer.
  4. These games are often meaningless in terms of the outcome because baseball is so fluid. Like to see Pierce try this at the top. 1. Thomas 2. Kennedy 3. Powell 4. Flores 5. Schuessler/Galvan Slot Porter Brown at 6, Belyeu at 7, Gasparino at 9 and 8 is just dependent on who DHs that day. Would be a really nice development if Borba could capably play 1B. I know the outfield is crowded but Casey Cummings is someone I was hoping would see more opportunities by this point.
  5. He was someone I was excited to see get an opportunity this year.
  6. Jack is suited to be a platoon bench bat at best. I’d take Jake McKenzie over him at 1B right now. If those were my options
  7. I said last year he needed to be coming out of the bullpen. I know last year he was just an opener knowing he was probably only going to pitch 1 or 2 innings but it’s just a different mindset, especially for a guy you know wants to start again and who has at a high level. Short quick outings out of the pen where he can give max effort for those 3 outs is where he needs to be. Then go from there
  8. He desperately needed a little confidence
  9. We went into the lab and made a more disciplined Trey Faltine
  10. Tulo effect??
  11. We get 3 years of Will Gasparino… Just puts a smile on your face
  12. Kameron Fields all over again
  13. He looks lanky but man does Flores have a lot of power in that swing
  14. O’Dowd is probably trembling right now. Righty making his collegiate debut
  15. Harrison has everything except velocity on his fastball, much closer to being an asset to this team than Witt is
  16. Thankfully though we have a nice crop of Freshman, and Gasparino bails out O’Dowd
  17. He is just lost up there mechanically, not even getting his foot down in time to hit the ball
  18. Personally I’d like to see Kennedy bat 2nd to get more speed at the top and break up the lefties.
  19. Yeah we already know that answer but I get Pierce trying to give a Senior as many opportunities as possible
  20. Interesting O’Dowd is getting the start against a Lefty
  21. This team has to much talent to continue to trot O’Dowd out there every game
  22. Should be a lot of tinkering with 4-9 in the lineup over the next 4 games.
  23. Casey Cummings in the doghouse or something?
  24. Hopefully this is the spark that lights the fire, a lot of pressure on the young man and given his reserved nature he seems to be very hard on himself. Tonight performance gives you confidence you can't fake. Little running game tonight, didn't flinch, made good decisions and took care of the ball.
  25. Most of Quinn’s passing yards were YAC. That isn’t a knock either as a lot of that is good play design and Quinn getting the ball where it needs to go. He still has absolutely no feel for the deep ball. He throws the ball to the sky instead of down the field and I’m not sure why. Rice put us in a box and had a pretty good game plan, they just have no where near enough talent for it to have mattered. A big reason the run game struggled is because Rice had zero concern for any ball with more than 15 air yards on it, and that belief only strengthened with every deep ball Quinn threw. If Quinn looks the same in Tuscaloosa and Sark is reluctant to give Malik a shot, the defense will have to give a Herculean effort just to keep the game close.
