  1. I’m trying to think of a better draft for Texas. Lucas and Dylan are the only guys we will miss. Sykora is the only recruit not going to make it to campus. Aging arms that never reached their potential like Morehouse and Sthele get taken high enough that they likely move on and free up roster spots.
  2. I’m not one who thinks he is an awful third base coach. I just prefer my manager in the dugout worrying about every aspect of the game.
  3. If anything it’s the best case scenario. Relinquishing base coaching duties would be the cherry on top
  4. Couple that with what former player Ryan Folmar is doing at Oral Roberts, Holliday may be in his final year as HC. Oklahoma State going to have to position themselves to be in a good position in the new Big 12
  5. I don’t know much about how much Texas has to spend for baseball as far as the NIL collective pool. What I do know, with 40 man rosters, 125K for one arm is a chunk of change for anyone. Given that Texas feels like they have a shot to get Gordon or Witt back they probably couldn’t commit top end money. If Gordon, LBJ, and Witt all exit, Texas will probably have the money to go after a top arm, which there are some left like Mason Molina and Chase Burns
  6. QB was the least of their worries last year
  7. Pretty tough blow for the Red Raiders
  8. Picked Lorenzo Cain for Brewers all star, only 0.6% picked him
  9. Gage Jump, LHP for UCLA just entered the portal, 2024 draft eligible. Hurt this past year but had a solid Freshman season. #1 LHP in California and #5 nationally in 2021 class https://uclabruins.com/sports/baseball/roster/gage-jump/11664 Land Gage Jump, Texas would have the #1 LHP prospect in California in 2021 and 2022 in Gage Jump and Oliver Santos
  10. I would imagine nothing happens until after the first year in the SEC to gauge how much the new schedule increases demand and attendance
  11. Ah I get it, so how good of a player they are is irrelevant. If they were recruited by everybody and highly sought after is what’s really important
  12. A championship is definitely the end goal. So who would you hire? Who is your guy?
  13. Interesting, not being a stud would certainly be news to the 2022 Golden Spikes winner.
  14. What criteria constitutes as a big time transfer that makes Texas a “destination” spot?
  15. 2018 was the only year they had to “overachieve” and most of those guys were still leftovers from Augie. 2020, 2021, and 2022 were all legitimate contenders. Obviously we will never know with the 2020 team but I’d say a 14-3 start with Elder, Madden, and Hansen was shaping up to be a pretty damn good year. Allen was an integral part in getting a lot of the guys like Faltine, Hodo, Witt, Nixon, Southard, Ardoin, Campbell, Thomas, etc… Not the only reason but certainly a big reason LSU has only been to Omaha 4 times post 2009. Now they just won a National Title, but the point being not every team you put on the field is going to be a contender. People take getting to Omaha for granted.
  16. It’s not so much a staff issue as it is a pitching coach issue. He seems to have a standard no one will ever live up to when it comes to that position. Philip Miller is still here. Haig was a little to in over his head at Texas. Sean Allen and Woody Williams are the only two that leave any question marks as far as turnover goes. With Woody they had to have seen the recruiting issues coming giving his age and little to no experience at the college level. Sean is the one that’s more interesting. 2021 hitting coach and D1 Baseball assistant of the year. Moved to pitching coach and the pitching staff took a pretty significant step back. Some reasons out of his control but still concerning. The weirdest thing with Allen is given how good a recruiter he was, why did he have to seek refuge at Ohio State?
  17. Him being hard to work for isn’t an issue as much as the revolving door of the pitching coach position which some would say go hand and hand. Being a pitching coach his whole career it seems as though he is having trouble releasing the reins to someone else and taking a step back. My stance has always been there are very few prospective upgrades and even fewer that would leave their current situation. Want it to work out because I think he is a great HC but the next 2-3 years are going to speak for themselves and at some point during that time his long term future will likely be decided
  18. Is there any insight on the fatigue regarding Pierce? Genuine ass hole that’s hard to work for or just a HC heading into season 8 and feeling the pressure to win big?
  19. I know he has grander aspirations but while he waits for the right opportunity I think it’s worth it even if it is only for a year. Assuming he even wants to do it, would allow him to still spend more time with his family for the time being not having to recruit on the road while still being involved with the game.
  20. Wonder where Tulo stands on coming back? Promote Chris Gordon and see if Troy wants to come back in a paid player development role on campus.
  21. Are 4 full time assistants allowed to recruit on the road beginning July 1st or is it still 3?
  22. Fabian and Prevesk are both Sophmores, Nesbitt is a RS Sophmore
  23. Well if one thing is for sure with some of the portal decisions today, it’s that NIL is turning the transfer portal into the Wild West. I know Chase Burns is a long shot but we should really think about putting on the full court press for him
