  1. When your Sunday starter is a transfer who couldn't get meaningless bullpen innings for the team you are currently playing then you are probably in for a long weekend. You've built a program when kids like Gavin Kash (who isn't ready) get to come in and sit on the bench and develop. So much depth that you have no choice but to be good or transfer out.
  2. Why the fuck would Matt Campbell leave Iowa State for Texas
  3. If he doesn’t he is getting really bad advice. If I was him I’d even contemplate sitting next year out. If I was a coach, that cared about winning and success as opposed to simply cashing a check, I wouldn’t touch the Texas job with a 10ft pole
  4. Did Sark drop the deep ball to Marcus Washington? Did Sark fumble the ball in FG range in the 2nd quarter costing the team at least 3 points? Did Sark drop a TD in the corner of the endzone? Did Sark miss the deep corner to the pylon to Xavier Worthy? It’s a cluster fuck of everything. Not great coaching for stretches, shitty play by the players for stretches. Joshua Moore comes out looking great and then shits all over himself for the rest of the game. Until you start benching players for poor performance regardless of the capability of their backup, nothing will change. Right now Joshua Moore (and I know Whittington got hurt) knows he doesn’t have to play good, he just has to be better than Kai Money. You can go position by position and say the same thing across the board. Until you set a standard that you have to play your ass off every play and play to a standard, not simply be better than your replacement to play, then you will see change. Kai Money has very little athletic ability, he’s small, almost no chance for a home run play, but I know one thing, he’ll appreciate the opportunity to go out there and play and give you everything he has. The program has an apathetic culture that has a vice grip around it. Coaches change, players change, administrations change (for the most part), yet one thing stays the same. The mentality that if you get your degree from Texas you are a winner. I can tell you that the 12 other teams we play every year couldn’t give a fuck about that.
  5. Everybody has their own opinion. I personally didn’t like the Charlie hire at all but he was exactly what Luke Fickell is now. The hot up and coming mid major commodity which was the point of the post. His HCing record is more nuanced then many make it out to be, how you view it depends on how you feel about him as a coach. He took over a lifeless Washington program that was 11-37 the 4 years prior and winless the year before he got there, and Sark went 34-29 in 5 seasons finishing 8-4 in his last. Then at USC the plane never got off the runway because of his personal issues that are well documented that I don’t think are all that relevant now. Royal was 17-13 in 3 seasons as a HC before being hired by Texas. Nick Saban was 43-26-1 as a HC before being hired by LSU. Oklahoma’s 4 best HCs had never had a HCing job prior so the *insert coach* head coaching record is well documented argument is a little hollow for me. They are either going to be successful or they aren’t and there are many factors outside of a head coaches control that are going to help determine that.
  6. What did I say that was wrong? Him and Charlie are eerily similar in terms of where they were at at similar stages. People thought Charlie was a pretty damn amazing coach too until he laid out all the evidence that contradicted that position during his 3 years at Texas.
  7. Eh coaching is one reason and a case could be made it isn’t even the biggest reason. Much of it has to do with culture. You could swap Lincoln and Sark today and the records are the same. Texas as a football program has been apathetic for a decade and it started when Steve Patterson and Chris Plonsky did their best to tear down the program and suck the life out of it. Culture trickles down from the top and although the administration has turned over largely it’s almost impossible to fix it over night. Sure would Nick Saban fix it quickly? Yeah, because Nick could flash his 7 National Titles and tell everyone to sit down, shut the fuck up, and this is how it’s going to be. The last 2 weeks is indicative of the culture of the program for the last decade, not any one coach. Success as a coordinator doesn’t mean anything necessarily in terms of being a successful HC but Bud, Barry, Bob, and Lincoln’s first HCing jobs were Oklahoma. How were they successful? There is a culture that doesn’t accept losing, sure everyone wants to win but at Texas there is a culture where when you lose on the field did you really lose? Those losers have to go back to Ames, Stillwater, Norman, Manhattan, Lawrence, you’re getting a degree from The University of Texas in one of the most lively cities in America, with endless possibilities. That kid across from you who just kicked your ass that wasn’t as highly recruited as you has to go back to a dump. Recruit the same kids, one wins every year, and the other loses. You think Sark just forgot how to fucking coach? Herman? It’s a top down culture problem that has infested the program.
  8. 1 year isn’t indicative of any coach but it is a small glimpse into what he did when handed an audition for a big time job and proceeded to shit all over himself. What makes him all that different than Charlie Strong at similar points in there career trajectory?
  9. We did hit a quick slant that was taken 85 yards the other way
  10. Until people stop beating off to the “we are Texas” mantra and give someone more than 4 years to erode the apathetic culture that has a stranglehold on the program, nothing will change. It’s funny how all these coaches forget how to coach once they get here. The list goes on and on of guys who are lauded as a great hire and halfway through their 1st season they are dog shit and need to be canned. There are only 3 coaches with staying power in recent memory that have taken over big programs that weren’t good recently prior to their arrival, and turned it around instantly. Pete Carroll, Urban Meyer, and Nick Saban. You could even throw in Bob Stoops. Tope Imade, and bless his heart because I wish him the best, is the epitome of why this program is where it is.
  11. 2007 Nebraska in Austin. Colt was 12-28, 181 yards and an INT Jamaal ran for 290 yards on 33 carries and 3 TDs That Nebraska team went on to finish 5-7 and Texas needed a heroic effort from Jamaal Charles at home to win 28-25. Bad games happen to the best of them, even Colt but people forget them because of how many good ones he went on to have.
  12. Oklahoma is allowing as many sacks per game as we are and the consensus around here is our OLine sucks in pass protection. Oklahoma has taken a step back and this is definitely Riley’s worst team. It will be a close game as it has been for the last decade. Texas has the best roster in the conference and the best coaching staff. The hard part is consistently showing that and being that team every single week.
  13. I kind of wonder what would have happened had Sam had Sarkisian during his time here. Probably would have had a running game rather than being an offense of one.
  14. Yeah I’m calling BS on Charlie. He ran to USF and together the sent a fuck you to Texas with that contract. He and USF can go fuck themselves as they both thought they could pull one over on Texas.
  15. You are wondering through the argument just rambling and putting words in my mouth. You said there was no difference between Charlie Strong and Tom Herman which is just total bull shit. Nick Saban lost to ULM his first year at Alabama. Even the best lose head scratchers and have close calls against inferior competition. The '04 team losing to Kansas being worse than the '16 team is in the eye of the beholder because that Kansas program wasn't near the doormat it is now. One major difference is the '04 team didn't lose and went on to win the Rose Bowl. The '16 team went 5-7. Sam lost us a few games playing sheer hero ball because that was the Herman offense. Put the ball in the QBs hands and ride him until he physically breaks down. Charlie Strong beat Will Muschamp (aka the White Charlie Strong) lets make that clear. Not that impressive. QBs and players do matter... What kind of statement is that? Who would say otherwise. YOU are framing it as if coaches don't matter and all that matters is a generational QB with no context whatsoever. Alabama has won a national title with tall white PPs (Jacob Coker and Mac Jones) and DTs (Jalen Hurts and Tua). Joe Burrow was average in 2018, nobody would have taken him over Sam Ehlinger. Then Joe Brady came in and turned Joe Burrow and LSU's offense into an elite juggernaut, yet you stated as if Ed Orgeron just recruited this one year rental generational QB. Herman ended up not being a great hire, I don't think anybody disagrees, I do however think you are in a camp of 1 with your take that Charlie Strong and Tom Herman were no different. My next door neighbors son was a walk-on WR at Texas during the Charlie Strong years, you want to hear what he had to say? Who gives a fuck, schools negative recruit and say all kinds of shit about each other. I don't see much damage at all, I see a lot of talent and we have a HC that swallowed his pride and switched QBs and we look like a totally different team with Casey, a team that could potentially win the conference, we'll have to wait and see. Texas is 11th in 247 team talent currently on the roster. Florida is barely ahead of us at 7th and just lost to Alabama by 2, they have had 3 coaches in the last 7 years. Maybe you are the one that can't see the forest for the trees?
  16. No it’s just because you are often delusional. Nick Saban has won a national title with how many different QBs? A list that includes Greg McElroy and Jacob Coker. Mac Jones was a 3 star that was developed, not a 5 star can’t miss. Joe Burrow was a poor mans Sam Ehlinger the year before Joe Brady arrived. Ed Orgeron had nothing to do with that team ascending. By your argument no coach should ever get credit and it doesn’t matter who we hire. Using Alabama in any argument regarding swapping a QB out is one of the dumbest arguments you could ever make because they’ve done it for over a decade now with about as wide a range of QBs you could possibly do it with. Charlie Strong was successful because in 2012 he went 11-2 in an 8 team Big East conference in which 4 of the 7 other members had losing records. The next year he didn’t play a single ranked team. Charie Strong went 16-21 in 3 years and managed to go 5-7, lose to Kansas, while having a 2,000 yard rusher and 2,500 yard passer. You’d think a defensive coordinator would find a way to beat Kansas and make a bowl game with a dominant running game. Herman went 32-18 in 4 years and left the roster that we currently have for a competent offensive mind like Sark to actually have something to work with. Herman on his worst day at Texas was light years ahead of Charlie Strong. Nothing will beat that stupid, deer in the headlights look he had al game long. Freshman Sam gave little indication that he was every going to bring Texas back other than he was a die hard Longhorn and had some moxie and leadership ability. Herman and company did a solid job developing him, Herman was just incompetent with his meritocracy approach in practice that he guys like Keontay Ingram playing over Bijan.
  17. I don’t remember that but who knows, a lot of blowhards say a lot of bull shit. All I know is Texas largest deficit to Ok State in that game was 19, 16 at halftime. Texas outscored Ok State 35-0 in the 2nd half. Texas and USC were the only two programs in 2005 to receive 1st place votes in the AP poll. Texas was also the only other team to be ranked #1 by the BCS during the regular season other than USC. I mean sure there was always disdain from the other coaches in the Big 12 that would shaft Texas in the coaches poll. Other than that, no major poll ever wavered from USC #1 and Texas #2
  18. Couldn’t tell you the last time we looked like a competent dominating football program against a quality opponent.. Waiting for someone to come slap me and wake me up
  19. This program is full of a bunch of bitches, the players (minus Casey) are a bunch of bitches, and the coaching staff are bunch of bitches. Just got the dog piss beat out of you by a 4-8 football team.
  20. Why is Casey not our starter? Oh that’s right because dunces like you spout that Hudson looks like Aaron Rodgers in practice… Give me a fucking break with this shit
  21. Jordan Whittington fucking sucks. Transfer please
  22. This program is done, fucked, whipped. We are the Dallas Cowboys of college football
