  1. I heard that Mum Foods on Manor Rd is getting some kind of recognition. Its owned/operated by my neighbor, mainly smoked meats with creative sides. Awesome spot.
  2. I keep beating that drum too. Several decades ago everyone watched the same network news. So we more or less believed the same things. Now it's all over the map. Yes, there are a lot of stupid people. But people believe what they see and hear. So when they get locked into a social echo chamber and watch propagandized news, this is what we get.
  3. This is the part of the simulation when it comes out that Cruz is actually a bearded transgender woman, sings "This is Me" at a press conference and Allred wins by .5%
  4. I would think there is a lot of short covering going on, as traders waited for the inevitable dump when the restrictions on his shares were lifted. I'd imagine they want to lock in some profits before the election (when shares could jump back up if he somehow won)
  5. To be fair, the New Testament represented a dramatic shift left from the Old . . . hows Jesus going to hide that kind of librul record?
  6. Yesterday watching football the only Cruz ad I saw was talking about transgender athletes. Really? Out of all the issues facing TX and the country, he chooses to hammer one that affects approximately .00001% of people. What a disgrace of a human. I saw several Allred ads and as observed in that thread, its clear Allred is not mentioning parties, period. He doesn't call himself a dem, but he also doesn't rail on the republican agenda in his attack ads on Cruz or even mention Cruz is republican. Clearly his strategy is to single out Cruz as a hated individual regardless of your party affiliation. Its like his ads are counting on some stupid people to not realize he's a democrat. If Harris can cut into the TX margin a bit more through higher turnout or whatever, there could be enough Trumpers that won't vote for Cruz, that it might work.
  7. Calling my shot = she gets 325. All the swing states + Iowa. The trends are clear and the GOP is self destructing. The Walz effect puts her over the top in Iowa. I want to think FL could flip but Trump just seems like the perfect FloridaMan
  8. Happened to align in just the same way in all seven swing states???
  9. This has to be a game of chicken between short sellers watching the plunge and billionaires like Musk willing to step in and bail out trump
  10. @SydneyCarton Murdoch agreed in his divorce to give the then-living children equal control of Fox. Now he's trying to give it to just one of the kids. I highly doubt any judge will go with him on that. There are only very limited exceptions allowing one party to unilaterally change an agreement/contract and I don't see anything here that comes close. Not a divorce lawyer but that is what my spidey sense tells me. Then again, Murdoch is the kind of guy that might be able to buy his preferred outcome.
  11. Are those numbers of mormons in AZ hardcore practicing mormons or mormons only by birth/heritage? In my experience, the latter share some of the same general values but not the batshit crazy beliefs. ETA the latter also don't have elders dictating their decisions.
  12. Re: a deal for Trump. This is all fantasy but I'll play along: Instead of pardons for the federal crimes, you offer a non-prosecution agreement based on DJT fulfilling a number of conditions. Admissions of guilt. Never running for any office again. But way beyond that. He has to publicly admit that almost everything he's said to the American people have been intentional lies. It would be an enumerated list, including the admission that Biden and dems didn't steal the 2020 election; rather he attempted to defraud the American people in a number of ways, including fake electors, march on the capitol, bogus lawsuits, etc. And, he has to out an enumerated list of GOP pols as liars who are only serving billionaires and big corporations, explain all the rhetoric from the GOP and Fox/right wing media about things like immigration are lies designed to dupe the public to vote for a party actively trying to shit on the average American. He has to expose how GOP's get bought by the mega rich, corporations, and malicious foreign enemies. The list could go on, but the gist is something that would finally annihilate the GOP. He fails to fulfill any of that, you prosecute.
  13. Not sure if I agree with your police work there, Lou
  14. Did a road trip with the kids there this summer. I echo everything above but wanted to add there is a ton of fun stuff for kids. Keystone has a 2000 foot slide like a bobsled track, another huge tube slide, an awesome ropes course, etc. Hot springs has a sweet waterpark w water slides, and a really cool dig where they have left like 30 mammoth skeletons in place for viewing. We toured Jewel cave which was awesome. The crazy horse memorial is still under construction but the visitor center and museum were still worth it. Phenomenal artifacts and native artwork. The rockhounding is spectacular due to the unique geology which seems to have a little of everything, not to mention fossils, artifacts, etc The towns all had fun restaurants and shops, locals all really cool. Lots of RV tourism but there's plenty of room so it didn't detract. Although it meant the paid campsites were full so we just camped in different national forest spots we found, which was way better anyway. Needles highway is the coolest We had a ball
  15. The truth is that for the vast majority of people, political ideology (conservative/liberal) is as deeply ingrained in their persona as their gender. They cannot go against it, so they end up going through all manner of mental gymnastics to justify who they are.
  16. The problem is it keeps Trump in the race. The other day I was wondering why polling at this point even matters, and figured that it should probably be ignored, unless it can sway the vote. So I googled a bit and from what I can tell, a close race helps turnout while a big lead depresses turnout for the trailing candidate. Media outlets want a close race both for $clicks$ and to try to sway the election. It is rage inducing but shouldn't be a surprise to anyone in here.
  17. Is he focusing on anyone ?? That is the question
  18. Maybe but it also encourages the other half of people to be even bigger dickheads
  19. I still don't get the obsession over polls almost on a daily basis. Do polls right now matter? Has there been any study of how polling affects turnout? Like if polling shows one candidate with a really large lead, does that depress turnout? Does it juice turnout for the candidate behind in the polls? If the polls show a tie does that juice turnout?
  20. If you use a 220 outlet they said like 5 hours, with 110 more like 10 hours. So easily doable overnight. But it also recharges some while driving -- braking, coasting etc. In the past few days driving it we have not come close to running the battery dead -- and if you ever did that the car switches to gas automatically. Car says we are averaging 148 mpg
  21. Right now have a Volvo hybrid demo. You can choose between all gas, all electric, or hybrid. In all electric mode you can only go about 35 miles. But you can plug it into a normal electrical outlet. So if you just drive around town you never have to buy gas. But for a road trip or if you want to go somewhere fast you have gas. Feels like the best of both worlds, we are fans. Would never consider a tesla
  22. Pete was on an NPR segment and for part of it he was asked why he goes on Fox news. He made several good points, but the one that stuck with me was: the people being reached by Fox News aren't just the hard core Magats. Fox News is on in a lot of waiting rooms and such. And in a typical household there will be spouse, kids, friends (who may not be maga) also watching TV at times. Its a way to reach people it may be hard to reach otherwise
