  1. Pretty good thread on why Russia can't increase arms production. TLDR: their arms factories are severely undermanned for several reasons, and sanctions prevents them from getting certain key components they can't make themselves like chips.
  2. MillerEP has been the main guy here doing work, wtf are you talking about? You think we'd rather read your useless comments?
  3. I'd throw Girkin in too as someone who has been critical enough you'd think would earn a free flight out of a tall window somewhere. I don't really understand the calculus, but by playing the MOD against PMC's, it might be to focus the Russian populace on those guys (as potential scapegoats later) and also to keep them rabid to continue the war.
  4. Sometimes we talk, sometimes we walkabout in the woods, sometimes we get naked, etc. Fucking incredible
  5. MDMA saved my marriage. Wife and I are opposites emotionally so when we got into conflict she would go to 11 and I would just shut down. Talk therapy helped, but our therapist strongly recommended X for us. I had never tried it, but it has been fucking incredible. You can (and want to) talk to eachother about ANYTHING, including shit that normally would result in WW3. If anyone is interested I'm happy to go into more detail.
  6. Any more bullshit about someone's support for Russia/Putin being CR and I'll probably neg. I'm right on the line. Seriously, wtf is remotely close to CR, given the context of this thread? I normally don't do call outs but that was a super sandy vag comment
  7. any link to that clip about synchronized swimming? Couldn't find anything with a google search but I don't know the name of the show/movie
  8. Western or red striped ribbon snake
  9. I've had luck on the free section of craigslist with people trying to get rid of rocks/boulders
  10. IMO, all you need to understand Bakhmut is to look at the battle for Severodonetsk. That was an artillery duel with the Russians having a big numerical superiority in guns, so they were levelling the town slowly and inching forward to capture the rubble. The Ukrainians defended for a long time, because they were very slowly tactically retreating and then hammering the Russians when they advanced. While AFU eventually gave up the ground, the attrition on the Russian side lead to the highly successful Kharkiv offensive that liberated way more dirt than they had given up attriting the Russians. Bakhmut is a different sort of battle due to Russia's current artillery shortage but I think the same principle still applies. Destroy as much Russian equipment and personnel as possible while preparing for the offensive. As one of Ukraine's soldiers mentioned, if they didn't fight them in Bakhmut, they would just have to fight them somewhere else. Now, if Bakhmut falls with a significant amount of Ukrainian forces surrounded/killed/captured, its a different story. But I think it fits with what has worked for Ukraine so far.
  11. WRT Bakhmut, before everyone goes sandy vag keyboard general, they need to remember that Ukraine has both been masterful at head-faking the Russians, and at "withdrawing" only to draw Russians into predetermined kill zones. This reminds me a lot of the severodonetsk battle, which Russia eventually "won" but it left them so weakened that the Kharkiv front line collapsed. I think its an intentional strategy by Ukr.
  12. Just as soon as Russia takes Bakhmut, watch out Warsaw! I hope somebody stops them before they get to Paris!
  13. Another way to hunt is to clear the vegetation off a little area (for instance, with Roundup and then come back later and rake/tear the dead stuff out) and let the wind and rain work on the bare dirt for a while. If there's a spot with a good view above the spring thats where I'd start. I found the camp I've been digging just by seeing enough flakes on top to be suspicious. Digging turns up lots of flake, bones, big clam shell, fire rock, and some nice artifacts. The highest concentration is about a foot down. About 2-2.5 feet down, the black topsoil (mixed with rock/gravel) gives way to only clay/gravel/rock/sand and thats where the flake and everything else stops. I think depth totally depends on the location, because some areas lose soil, some build up soil, and in others the soil moves around (sand drifts etc). Also, every time an animal digs a hole or a tree goes down with root ball intact, some of the dirt a couple feet down gets put back on top -- and over thousands of years that can lead to a lot of turnover/mixing in certain areas.
  14. Did you ever dig by the spring? Thats how I find most of the Travis county artifacts posted above. Found a camp on top of a little bluff overlooking the Colorado River bottoms, with a spring down the hill about 100 yards away.
  15. Few more recent ones, Travis Co
  16. overheard my 3 and 4 year old boys talking . . . "you have to fart really quiet at fancy restaurants"
