  1. Not as creative as you guys. This is my favorite, seriously LOL!
  2. I thought he stayed in bounds. Both times, live and the fast replay. Then missed FG. Seven lost points. See if it comes back to haunt the cowboys.
  3. maybe, but how does it work with a backup ol? Do we take the position that the backups are all young and haven't been messed up by Herman's staff yet, or will the inexperience hurt the backup ol and they get pushed around a bunch?
  4. To get this straight: 1. Kelly is getting a total compensation of at least $5 million, but ND is not paying his assistants market value, and there is a state income tax in Indiana 2. Kelly has a burning desire to win a NC 3. Kelly has a tough time recruiting the top athletes because of academic restrictions. Can we agree that those three things are 100%? My assumptions are as follows: At Texas he would enjoy: 1. total compensation of $12 million, and assistants to be paid at market value. (There is also no state income tax in Texas) 2. no recruiting restrictions in one of the hottest recruiting places in the country Why would Kelly NOT consider a move to Texas?
  5. I read earlier that the team will wear "FA" on the helmet to honor Fred Akers. Got me thinking about that 1984 Freedom Bowl, and I watched the highlights. Wondering if Hayden Fry had piled on the points to make a statement, I watched and quickly realized there was no piling on. The score was 55-17 in the 3rd quarter. Man could have put 80 on us. Similarities between then and now? 1. 1984- Texas team didn't want to be there, 2020- nobody wants to be at Alamo Bowl 2. 1984 - we were ranked #19, 2020- we're ranked #20 3. 1984 - serious doubt about future of coach, 2020 - no doubt about future of head coach - we think
  6. So, the line came down to where I predicted. Hey, I like being correct as much as anybody. It doesn't happen very often, so I am enjoying this.
  7. listening to normathon now. Norm is in good form. very sharp, dissecting Eagles offensive woes.
  8. answering my own question: Akers 9 losses, Mack 7 losses, DKR 5 losses. Brian Kelly's record of 8 losses is better than Akers and right in line with the two head coaches in our history who have won National Championships. Case closed, IF Urban says no. Urban's best four years in a row: 4 losses. better than DKR.
  9. Guys, open your brains for just a second. These are results with supposedly "academic limitations", and of course the athletes have to live in Indiana, as compared to our beloved Texas. If this is his coaching resume having to recruit the way he must recruit, then I have to imagine that his results at Texas would actually be better, because of the quality of the athletes he would get to recruit from Texas. The garden variety 4 star football recruit growing up in Texas still wants to give the flagship university a chance. We just need a coach who will make the athlete feel like he will get a good chance of improving his skills to prepare for the pros, and compete for a national championship. All of that stuff is easier here for the head coach than at Notre Dame, if the "academic limitations" thing is correct. Btw, those seven losses in four years. Hell, count it eight. Pick any four years of Mack in a row. Better or worse? How much? Now, do it again for DKR. Any four years in a row. Better or worse? How much? Do it again for Akers. Just exactly what is our standard? Remember, right now we're Tennessee, four losses in a year for 10 years in a row! Yes, I would make Urban say no to 7 years/84 million first. Next, I would go to Kelly or someone else of his proficiency level.
  10. Actually learned about Mike's retirement from reading this thread. My favorite part was when Mike would occasionally visit his former co-workers and they would give him a hard time about leaving at the exact correct time, just before COVID-19. Btw, I never saw the full-length documentary about Mike. Would love to see that thing. Any ideas how to find that?
  11. wait a minute. If ND covers and comes reasonably close, does that give Kelly the confidence that he could actually compete for a NC if he were to come down here? I don't give the irish a chance to actually win the game, but this would give me a good reason to watch the game.
  12. This is what we needed to see, proof that we really are Tennessee. I used to laugh when people said we were the other UT. There is no laughing now. I don't have it right now, but I once read on wiki that during the 2008 or 2009 season we were up there tied with Notre Dame, probably with actual number of total wins all-time, and we were behind only Michigan. We have fallen so far off the map that we need speculation about the star-free agent coach to get us even thinking about being in the top 10 again. We are literally one Coach of a Generation hiring away from "owning a house in the top 10", as Mack used to say.
  13. I listened to the hour-long Cowboys post-game show after the Eagles game. Good stuff. Been away from the Dallas area for two years plus. Listened on Alexa, excited to hear Donnie and Elf! Norm was mentioned, I guess he does occasional work now? Elf sounded as good as always. Phone calls from listeners long gone, I guess? So, ESPN local is dead now? Those ratings look like the Fan has really taken off and is giving plenty of competition to the Ticket. How long did ESPN last after Galloway retired? He was pretty much the station when I was in the Dallas area.
  14. line should go all of the way down to 7.5, imo. Only reason for the half a point is the two point conversion. If there were no two point conversion I would predict the line to go down to 7.0.
  15. I will be extremely satisfied if OU and Aggy lose. Don't care about 'bama.
  16. Despite the idiocy at the end, I am pretty convinced Freeze will be made to say no numerous times. The question is how much of a raise will he say no to?
  17. so,if we can't have Urban, can we have Freeze? Dang, beating the number 12 team with Liberty?
  18. I disagree. Traylor is not there and they lose by 3 TDs, means it was more about him than anything else. I think this actually helps the Traylor to UT talk. They look about as lost as a winning team can look about now.
  19. I just occurred to me that two of the top disaster plays in our history are because a special teams coach didn't jump in and say "whatever you do, don't ......" This one, don't rough kicker and in the other one, don't field the punt. amazing.
  20. Anybody have experience with a good shrimp etoufee? I like a version made by David Rice, Lubys manager in Corpus, around 1999. He put extra veggies into his version. His version was so much better than the regular 1st cooks version I was very surprised he didn’t tell the cook to follow the version with extra veggies.
  21. So, the Ohio st game ends early morning of Jan. 2, so we have about 12 days until the special speculation begins. Does MOV move the needle at all for the son-in-law? Or any other asst. coach? I am predicting a rather dull sugar bowl win for Clemson, about a 17 point win for the tigers.
  22. Oops, don’t see edit function...mike wacker.
  23. Best team play before the collapse ever? You are obviously younger than me. The 81-82 squad was to many people in Austin the best ever before the collapse, and the collapse was REAL! 14 and 0, number 4 in the country, and only 2 all SWC talents, Walker and Thompson. Could have easily made final four. Btw, what was the collapse in 09-10? Did someone get injured, or did the team mysteriously stop playing as a team, or what?
  24. Don’t forget Ron Baxter. Shorter version of Barkley..shortest power forward I ever saw, 6 4.
