  1. I am getting my forecasted pick in now, gotta be Kamala. cuz it can't be Rice. No experience running for anything, correct?
  2. I just read the most bs ever suggestion, from Willie Brown, that Kamala should politely decline the VP job. Dude, are you on crack? She has a chance to be prez. in about 18 months. Who would turn down this VP job? Nobody, that's who.
  3. wow. Rice is out! see this https://www.foxnews.com/politics/susan-rice-trump-supporting-son "His mother said she believes, for both her family and the country, in respecting those with differing political views" Hard left will not respect people with differing political views.
  4. He should pick Demings, a former police chief in Orlando. Had no idea any of these ladies were former police anything. She would easily be the toughest on crime. I think he will want comfort, so he will pick Rice.
  5. Do you think Sullivan can make the case last through October 14?
  6. This, sort of. Let's say the en banc vote is strictly down party lines, proving a court can be just as political as any other politician or institution. Then Sullivan makes the case last long enough that the case is still going as the debates near. Trump will not want to pardon Flynn before the election. Flynn's attorneys appeal to the supreme court and the court rules for Flynn, just before the election. The supreme court hears arguments October 5,6,7,13, and 14. That's it before the election, unless you count the day before the election. Sullivan's objective is to make the case last in his court until October 14. I don't think he can do that. Maybe he gets sick and has to go on FMLA or something like that. So, my fearless forecast is that the supreme court hears the arguments October 7, 13, or 14, and hands down the ruling sometime before the end of October. Game over.
  7. no dice, dude. 3.4 oz is next to nothing. Apple pie was a great choice, because it was good as either a dessert or breakfast. The whoppers and pie covered dinner, breakfast and a good snack. Not bad for $10. I can go lower on price, but will have to spend time cooking. Good challenge, though. I spent $30 total during a 21 hour flight. Will go for less $ next time. 8. Rural Alaska. Am a teacher traveling back to the bush. The flight left DFW at 5:45 p.m. Had an overnight layover in Anchorage, can blame Alaska Airlines for that. The layover was from about 10 p.m. to 1:25 p.m. next day. The 2nd whopper lasted until I arrived in Anchorage late that night, and the apple pie lasted all of the way until about 9:00 a.m. the next morning. Only had to eat out one meal on the trip, the last meal in modern civilization for maybe a whole year, depending upon the COVID. That meal was an overpriced but delicious cheeseburger in the Anchorage Airport at about 11:30 a.m. Took my own plastic fork for the pie. Next time am thinking more along the lines of more protein. I like Kroger's and Anchorage has their own version of Kroger's, FredMeyer. I am thinking Rotisserie chicken, maybe two. I am cheap, no doubt. The pie and two whoppers combined to cost about $10 plus tax for the whoppers in Euless, TX. The cheeseburger, fries, and coke in Anchorage airport cost about $20.
  9. ok. so my bank account was low, so I took a chance on the 2 for $5 Burger King special on the way to the DFW airport. But first I stopped at a Kroger's to get a whole apple pie. So, I'm going through TSA with 2 whoppers and a full apple pie in the backpack. The TSA chick told me she would have to look at my food, and sure enough, "this is making me hungry" comes out of her mouth. I just smiled and said thank you. Whopper not bad. Kroger apple pie better.
  10. Holiday House, 2J's restaurant, GM Steakhouse, Mama's Pizza on Guadalupe.
  11. This is correct. I am sure I am in the majority who were NOT surprised at ALL, when Colt was injured in the NC game. Mack had multiple opportunities to mitigate the upcoming injury to Colt. How many times did GDGD ram McCoy into the line against KSU, resulting in an injury, in 2006, three years prior. I think I yelled at the TV every game squints played in 2009, yelling for Mack to have squints pass the ball, rather than hand-off for the entire time he played. Why? Because Mack was so cocky he thought he could win all the games and dictate the way the team won? It seemed his biggest fear was the players winning by too much, instead of having the killer instinct. Fear was his friend. Afraid of winning by too much, afraid of OU, afraid of his own shadow it seemed.
  12. great reminder of Fred. Freddie was completely 100% tunnel vision. Would put all of the best athletes on D....and it should have worked! If Edwin Simmons doesn't have one leg longer than the other, he doesn't get injured, and the 1983 team has an explosive back hitting the hole so fast, the Georgia D would not know he blew by them. The final score in that game would have been something like 24 to 3. National champs.
  13. I have used a chiro. in the past. I am older than you. Once every six months was plenty for me, but I don't have your issues. I just had a stiff back. My chiro. in the Dallas area did the needle trick once and it was very, very good. However, the very best thing for my back, and whole body was Ashiatsu. The lady walked on my back, front, all over. Unbelievably good. She is in the metroplex, so if you're in the area, her name is Brandi Vasquez. She was so good, I realized I was going to the chiro. less often. Sometimes when she walked on my back, it would pop. Not often but often enough that if I had to choose between going to her and going to the chiro. I would choose her in a heartbeat. Edit, misspelled her name....Brandee
  14. Post .....of.......the.......year? At least best post of the summer.
  15. Call me an idiot, but I think if the right people show up to the dedication of the Whittier statue and say they want to sing the eyes, the vast majority of players will most likely stay. I'm talking Ricky, Earl, Vince, and descendants of Whittier.
  16. any update?
  17. got a smaller than expected smoke ring, but the meat was tender, but not falling apart. For taste I give it a 7 out of 10. Plenty juicy, after letting the meat rest for 20 minutes. Rib rub from Kroger's was good. I have brisket tacos and sandwiches for several days. I think the improvement necessary is having a working thermometer inside the smoker and having wood available to increase the heat throughout the smoking process instead of just wood chips and charcoal. I used a bunch of wood chips. I wonder if there would have been a difference had I not had to cut the brisket in half to get it to fit inside the oven? Btw, I should have taken a picture of the brisket when I first squeezed it into the smoker. The brisket wouldn't fit laying down, so I curled up the brisket, still fat side up. It just squeezed into the top level of that smoker.
  18. ....and the smoke is done. Seven hours is enough for me. If I ever use this type of smoker again, I can easily drop the meat down a level towards the dying coals. Since the temp gauge did not work, I had no idea the actual temperature, and did not want to take a chance the meat might fall into the danger zone. I had to cut the brisket in half so it would fit in the oven. (small oven, home built in early 60s, strange). Wrapped in foil, brisket is finishing in oven at 275 degrees. Total smoke time 7 hours, with many reps of me throwing the wood chips. It seemed to work. Soaked the wood chips in water, and every time I threw chips, and occasionally some charcoal, the smoke picked up. I saw plenty of smoke ring. Will let it cook for at least 8 hours.
  19. haven't read the thread. My two favorites are ixl.com and lexia.com. ixl.com proved to be fantastic for math, and has other subjects as well. I taught 4th grade at the charter school. Lexia was written for kids who have dyslexia, but our charter school in Dallas put all kids on it. To reference success, our charter school was 92% hispanic, mostly bilingual, and the remainder was african american, except for teacher's kids. Full title one school. We were #2 in STAAR scores in the zip code in southeast Dallas, we're talking 88% of kids passing the writing STAAR for example, and 93% of fourth graders passing STAAR math 4th grade.
  20. First Whataburger in probably six months yesterday. Plain old #2, no cheese, full meal, everything was fresh, and super delicious. Great job, McKinney folks.
  21. in Euless visiting sister-in-law. Kroger has choice brisket on sale, $1.99 pound. I am trying her little cylinder shape smoker for first time. I picked out the smallest, most flexible brisket Kroger's had today, a 15 pounder. Just getting started, about 30 minutes in. Me and the dog, on the patio. Good times.
  22. So, Sullivan can prove how political he is by appealing to the Supreme Court, correct? Does appealing and delaying the inevitable help his chances to be elevated to the Supreme Court when Trump loses or does it make him look like a sore loser?
  23. Wow. Am so impressed at your thought process. From an educator point of view, I cannot thank you enough for exposing the kids to all of America this way. Your idea of having the kids write a journal is the bomb! There is a website-can't think of it now-that will "publish" kids books. They provide the special high-quality paper, etc. Makes a cool gift for grandparents, etc. When you get serious about having the kids work on academics, I suggest the following: 1. IXL.com. for math. IXL is an incredible website that has different levels of math, from PK all of the way to high school. I used it to tutor 5th graders who had failed the 4th grade STAAR a couple of years ago. 2. Lexia.com is also wonderful for language arts. Lexia is designed for kids who have dyslexia, but at the charter school I taught in Dallas, we put all of our kids on lexia and it was outstanding. I always challenged my 4th graders to complete the 5th grade level of Lexia, reason being that was less kids I would have to be concerned about passing the writing STAAR test. One hour a day of IXL and one hour a day of Lexia and you may wonder what the kids have been doing in school.
  24. The fried fish arrived unbreaded in 4 blocks to a box...frozen. 66pounds, I think. Don’t remember amounts but fried fish procedure was water flour batter crushed crackers. Batter was buttermilk and eggs...hazard a guess and say 144 eggs to 2 gallons of buttermilk. I know for sure that was supposed to be haddock, and most stores would also cut up the same block for baked fish and pan grilled fish. Catfish filets were not a company mandate, but in Sherman we sold plenty, two recipes, pan grilled and blackened. Fry cook wasn’t happy when blackened cat was on menu, because he couldn’t keep up, and it was messy. We liked to serve a grilled fish with sauce, either dill sauce or provencale. Jmo, dill sauce was not as tasty as Provençale sauce, if the first cook put enough wine in sauce. Several fresh veggies including mushrooms, onions, etc. complemented the sherry wine. For Good Friday in San Antonio and corpus, the stores sold the following seafood items: crab something- can’t remember shrimp creole seafood gumbo Salmon patty/croquette usual fried and baked fish seafood tempura.....if you like sweet and sour sauce, this was the best. pan grilled, either haddock or cod filet fried shrimp....on the counter....only day for this. I think this was it...over half the meat counter. I would always put a double pan of fried fish in front of counter next to jellos, and we would have two fry cooks working both noon and dinner rush that day. Six pieces of fish in basket, two baskets in one fryolater, two or three fryolaters working through the rush.....it was something else.
  25. This is interesting to me. I sort of remember that the baked fish was originally supposed to be cod, but the fried fish was always supposed to be Haddock. I don't actually remember seeing frozen blocks of cod, always Haddock, until some of the people started trying to be cheap and bought pollock. Pan grilled filets would come in as cod. The butcher would let those thaw and slice those.
