  1. I believe the same precept would lead us to the conclusion that, for the right amount of money, Kiffin would come pull weeds in my front yard wearing a pink bunny suit. Don't believe me?
  2. If you're Kiffin, do you have your agent drop a hint - "Lane isn't saying he's interested, but Lane sees this as an opportunity to win national championships and he would need $20mil per year." What's the downside? Maybe it gets back to Ol Miss? What are they going to do - fire him? He's all but locked up a 10-2 record and a potential top 10 finish - they might give him a raise. If they say no, and keep it quiet, no big deal. If they leak it, Lane can say "that's what I'm worth and I wouldn't go there for less than I'm worth." Is there a chance aggy gets turned down a time or two and has to bite? Maybe? Maybe those that say Kiffin wants the job left out 1/2 of the story. Kiffin does want the job, if you pay him $20m. I could see Kiffin doing the weird moves at yell practice for that kinda cheese. [A]ggy can give him 20m per year for 5 years and tell all their friends "Wed didn't get tricked again like last time - this time we only signed a 5 year deal." Win/win.

Nobody at bigxii hq would cry if Texas got screwed by the committee. In fact, they might celebrate. If there was ever a year that the committee could give a conference "the business," it would be this year if Texas won the ccg.
  4. Irony (from Ancient Greek εἰρωνεία eirōneía ' dissimulation, feigned ignorance' ), in its broadest sense, is a rhetorical device, literary technique, or event in which what on the surface appears to be the case or to be expected differs radically from what is actually the case.
  5. If I'm leaving UW for CS, it is because I got moneywhipped. If the money is even, daughter coming for softball, and I'm prospering. No move. If however, they came through with some blockbuster deal - guaranteed money for 10 years, no offset, all the gravy a coach could ever ask for, I'm moving wherever. The question then becomes, "would the leadership of a large university ever do something like that?" Would they ever be so desperate to win that they would agree to a lopsided deal like that? I guess we'll see.
  6. Question - which is better? A. Blue chip coach for $9mil a year B. Up and comer coach for $4mil and $5mil to NIL some o-line/d-line players? Based on my unscientific observation, I'm taking B unless A gets me Saban.
  7. Don’t let this contractor make you his bitch. Fight with him over every little thing until it’s perfect. This is your home and you have to live in it. oh, and keep us posted.
  8. For intramural flag football we had three plays. Three simple plays that we could run right or left. No matter how we lined up there were only three fucking plays. No huddle, qb would call the play announcing 3 digits. “623” or “461” or some bs number like that. The first digit told us whether we were going right or left. If it was an odd number we go right, even number run play to the left (or vice versa). Second digit was meaningless. Might as well have said “Omaha.” Third digit was the play. 1, 2 or 3. We lit some bitches up with that simple system. I bet if you had asked those teams how many plays we ran they would have said 30 different plays. If someone is stealing your signals and you can’t wire around it your shit is too complicated or your players too stupid.
  9. The raw honesty and simplicity in this post was missed by most.

I guess that sorta conquers all. You were raised, and now you've raised your children, to believe that your eternal destiny is to endure struggle and, if you do it well, there will be some reward. Joe Palestinian can't really go home after work and tell his family "let's scrap all our beliefs, move to Greece, and see what these Orthodox Christians have in store..." can he? How do you ever get a religious ideologue (I don't mean that as an insult) to compromise on a matter of religion?

Dumb question here goes - is there ever a time when you just admit defeat, take the loss, and move on? Let’s say I’m Joe Palestinian. I’ve got a wife and two kids. I can try to gtfo and go to Egypt, America, who knows. Anywhere but the place where I’m not prospering because … complicated reasons. If I pull the trigger on that decision I’m subjecting my family to stress, uncertainty, and distance from all things known - family, language, culture. But I’m also giving them hope. Alternatively I can dig in and say “my land, not fair, father’s heritage, never say die. My children’s hope then depends on a successful war and eradication of an enemy or, if not that, at least a good enough showing at war that I get some kind of Korea armistice. If i’m Joe, im saving up $5,000 and gtfo. What am I missing?
  12. When people describe something as being at a "price point." "It was at the $1,000 price point..." How about you save us a few syllables and just say "It cost $1,000." We don't need your passive voice bullshit, you didn't do a market study, and I'm pretty sure this isn't an economics lecture. Also, I'm tired of hearing about weather patterns or any patterns for that matter. You're not a meteorologist and I didn't ask for the farmer's almanac. "I'm tired of this summer weather pattern." F-me. How about "It is hot," or "I'm tired of this hot weather." Do better.
  13. Dammit. Too soon. I raised my kids playing these songs in the truck - they sing along whenever he’s on. I wish I could write like this: Well he drove a Ford Fiesta What the hell kinda car is that? And he'd drive around here tryin' to flush out a queer Or the man that ran over his cat.
  14. Check out this guy. Melanoma won't take him without a fight.
  15. Pretty sure a guy with a billion dollars wouldn't get in a deathtrap carnival ride either, but now it seems like we're all learning new things as we go here.
  16. Debris field around the Titanic? This is not news - that has been there for over a century. We're looking for a new debris field. Should look like a largely intact exterior metal frame, two round titanium endcaps, a pile of carbon fiber shards, and some ruptured piss bags.
  17. So, in an instant, the air surrounding the humans and the gas within their bodies compressed to 1/400th of its volume. And the temperature increased from whatever it was, lets say 73 for a placeholder, to 4,000. Did the pressure increase crush them before the heat hit them, or did the heat boil them, before the crushing? If I smash a bug with a red hot iron, does it feel the smash or the hot first? I'm thinking the smash. Also, another thought is that there was a large bubble of air and farts that rose to the surface somewhere shortly after this thing imploded. Kinda like when that Russian pipeline exploded. If we could go back and review satellite imagery and find that big fart bubble, we could use one of your math formulas, consider the rotation of the earth, and ocean currents, and pinpoint the location of the wreckage quickly.
  18. If the thing loses power, sinks, and is just sitting on the bottom of the Atlantic in the dark with five people on board, then what? Bang on the hull hoping someone hears you? I bet they pair off like the end of Spies LIke Us after they launch the nuke?
  19. It doesn't seem like the technology has to be overly complex. On the surface the door needs to be watertight but able to open and close (or its not a door). As soon as you descend, water pressure is pressing the door inward. If designed correctly, the door will only open on the surface - water pressure will hold it shut at anything but shallow depths. The deeper you go, the stronger the seal on the door.
  20. There are only 4 groups on planet earth that can recover this thing. 1. US Navy. 2. Chinese Navy. 3. Vehicles – Deep Submergence Lab (whoi.edu) 4. Shall we start taking bets on who gets there first?
  21. I'm going to assume that the ocean there has something called ocean currents, and the strain on the "tether" imposed by those ocean currents would be substantial when you spooled out 2 miles worth. Maybe so substantial that your sub just did this on the end of the tether --------------0, downstream.
  22. I'm going to take a different tack here. Just on the off chance you are all wrong. Then I can gloat and say "told you so" to a bunch of internet strangers. Right now some politician is opening a letter at his desk that says something like "I'm going to engage the silent propulsion drive and give the boat to the Russians." These boys are running Red Route One through Thor's twins, with their half-filled piss bags and xbox joystick and the US coast guard isn't on a rescue mission, it's driving them. When this whole thing ends there's going to be some bullshit story about the boat was lost at sea but, about 5 years from now, we'll see some Russian made item that shares technology with that sub and we'll know the truth - the rooskies got the boat and stole the advanced technology. Amirite?
  23. I wouldn’t go through TSA at Austin Bergstrom airport with marijuana. Why? Because it’s illegal and those are federal agents that are going to search you thoroughly. If they find contraband they might throw your ass in jail. Griner decided to try that move in Russia, during a war or a run up to a war. I assume in Russia they use their equivalent of federal agents to search people for contraband. Apparently there Hash oil is contraband. I call that fucking around. I haven’t spoken with her but I suspect she is finding out.
