  1. Reading about the hog warts and kiss retirement communities has me thinking… 1. I don’t want to retire in one of these communities. 2. If I have to do so, buffet isn’t bad. I’ll take that over Harry Potter, Kid Rock or some of the other suck ideas on here. 3. I want to visit for a big weekend like Labor Day. Give me 3 days to just go drink, people watch and take it in. I’ll be like Saul Goodman running bingo. 4. If one must live in one of these communities… what is ideal? If you could get me a red dirt/Texas country version somewhere south of corpus on the coast, I might be in. Alternatively, I would take a Ben Harper/jack Johnson setup in Kauai.
  2. I sat in an M3 in a showroom once, and out of habit I depressed the clutch and shifted the car from 1st to neutral. The salesperson, who didn't own a freaking thing in that building except his JC Penney tie, had heart-attack level rage at me. I'm no tranny synchro expert but I believe my move was ok. - salesperson was uppity and made it a point to shit on me. FU bro, I wanted a Grand Cherokee anyway.
  3. since we’re all chiming in with hot takes, I’ll go. I’m on the fence on this one. On the one hand, this dude bought a station wagon which generally indicates he’s soft and resigned to hauling groceries car seats and a golden doodle, but On the other hand he bought a tear-ass German performance car that can blow the doors off of about 90 percent of the cars on the road, which tends to show he’s got some spunk. Then, he disguises this car as the slowest version of said soccer mommer, as a subterfuge, so that when he elects to unleash the beast, the shock and surprise of others, likely strangers, will be increased. He’s a showman. I think this is somewhat better than the guy that puts a wing and a muffler on a dodge neon. But probably south of the person that just has a badass car and doesn’t need to try to camouflage it. So there, I’ve seen worse, and seen better.
  4. I believe you will find that, if over 40 and the recipient of adverse action, and then replaced by someone under 40, there arises a presumption of age discrimination. good employment lawyers may get you farther down the track than you anticipate. There are real tight timelines so don’t wait.
  5. What are you going to do with the bones?
  6. Yep. Did you see The Who that put up the horns at the end? Good show.
  7. I heard once that the rotation causes a black out or broken neck and the occupants die before hitting ground. Or maybe not. Maybe they go out like Chief smearing around poo on the windows.
  8. Thread hijack - stanco, we’re you at seussical last night?
  9. Where is the rollercoaster splat thread? it’s one of two things - either this ride had a size weight limit and this “rider” was unsuitable for the ride; or the ride restraints were improperly used. Right?
  10. The bar where they give you the free shot of tequila if you buy a $1 beer, Nuevo Laredo. Best guess is about 3 blocks east of the mercado but I kinda lost my bearings that day. Basically take your worst story from the posts above and add the fear of the unknown that lurks with dark bathrooms in Nuevo Laredo. Makes that trainspotting stall look like the kitchen at Jeffrey's.
  11. I think Corrigan sucks. There, I said it. Timpson, Tenaha, Garrison and San Augustine, you're on the list too.
  12. Perspective matters. If you’ve just received a speeding ticket in diboll or corrigan, and eaten the truck stop tacos in North Carthage, well then, Marshall might be a real treat. if not, 70 miles to Texarkana, where you can have some real excitement.
  13. The Marshall Chamber of Commerce needs you.
  14. What’s in Avinger other than a windowless “game room” where methheads play 8 liners and a bait stand?
  15. Yeah dumbass. Go try to buy a French Bulldog.
  16. That little town might surprise you. Patently Unfair – Texas Monthly
  17. My work requires me to visit there from time to time and, the thing I do there is lucrative, so I go gladly. They treat me well there too. I even went to a damned walk the red carpet movie premier in that town and had dinner with an actor and the director at the jalapeño tree after. https://m.imdb.com/title/tt2630352/
  18. Marshal tips for you amateurs. 1. the Whataburger on the south side of town is superior to the Whataburger on the north side of town. 2. The Italian restaurant on the north side of the square is serviceable for lunch and dinner. 3. If you have to get a Covid booster skip the Walgreens and cvs and go to super one. 4. If you want a good time head north to Jefferson and go to Skinner’s or go to uncertain and hit the lighthouse. Dont eat the seafood at the lighthouse. 5. Starbucks may or may not be open at any random hour. 6. Schlotzskys has coke freestyle but it’s out of everything except orange drink. 7. I don't think the red light cameras are connected. If I think of anything else I’ll let you all know.
  19. It’s going to be like that sad ass movie The Road isn’t it? I’ll be limping down the road pushing a shopping cart and trying not to get eaten by some roving band of aggy.
  20. Thought - clearly we have an inside track to Russian intel such that we see the orders given to generals (by we I mean Rubio). and surely we’ve game planned some pre-emotive deal such that - if Putin directs a launch… we respond as follows, right? Tactical nuke to Ukraine - sit tight something more - ? So what is the Russian move that causes us to go on the offense?
  21. It appears that the Ukrainians are putting yellow bands or tape on themselves and the rooskies are using white z’s to identify their equipment? Is it just that primitive - good guys are yellow - bad guys white Z, or is there something else afoot? I guess in disorganized war simple is best. Urban warfare in Kiev at night - shoot anything moving?
  22. Headed down Friday for camp pickup. Back on Thursday for… camp pickup. Eat the La Patrona at Rio Rancho Cafe. Don’t stay at the Days Inn. What else y’all got? Any ideas for Saturday night?
  23. You filthy sailors, going from port to port, you're the ones that spread diseases like this. You're to blame.
  24. If you had to weather a 30-90 day period of unrest, insecurity or pandemic, and had to do it in a tourist destination in the u.s., where would you go? Key west? Jackson hole? Asking for a friend.
