  1. My grandmother told me not to fight the dudes that worked out in the oil fields or the dudes from the rodeo. I think she had learned from watching her brothers down in the valley enough that she composed a model of fight success. She left out carnies, however, somewhere in my DNA I know that I also don’t want to ever fight a carnie. What’s the most you could win? Fake stuffed animal and hepatitis? Then the bearded lady knifes you? WTF? Fihting a carnie has got to be like fighting those people from snatch. The whole family.
  2. I like most of the actors - what I know about them. Emilio seemed pretty balanced. Sheedy seemed warm and kind. Lowe seemed like life was good to him, he knew it, and was truly grateful, Demi turned being pretty and having a husky voice into a good career, Timothy Hutton wasn’t worried about much - beekeeper. Jon Cryer did a lot more with a lot less than McCarthy. Kinda wish Cryer had been harder on AM. McCarthy stepped on his own wang with this project. Vanity project - look at me - didn’t work out. Try again bro.
  3. Should have just done “The Brat Pack” 40 years later and let them all tell stories about getting wasted and being entitled. Surely they have some stories.
  4. To come full circle, I don’t think Terence Howard is insane. Uneducated and susceptible to hack b.s. more like it. Can’t really tell from Wikipedia but my guess is he has limited education, had some spare time and a thirst for knowledge, and he got off track. Layer in some mj smoking and tendency to believe conspiracies and voila. He’s just repeating some shit someone else spun up and he’s half-assing that. Dude would really benefit from things like: 1. AP world/US History 2. Biology 1 at some community college 3. Astronomy 1 from some university 4. A weekly lunch with some smart successful people. I suspect he doesn’t really have access to any of these things. I bet most kids of surly participants have better sounding boards than he does. oh, and honest question, how much do they smoke before ring turns on the camera? That might be important.
  5. Shoulda gone the other direction and found me a “fashion merchandising” or “nutrition and diet” major at SWTSU.
  6. First job after college my office was at 6th and Congress. We saw things everyday and, as strange as this may sound, Leslie was consistent, predictable and somewhat sensible. there was one guy that would roll out this utility cable spool and stand on it and just go fucking berserk. He would keep increasing the intensity of his berserkitude until the cops showed. One day he taped water balloons on his chest like saggy tits. One day he brought out a full toilet and put it on top of the spool. One day he climbed the traffic light pole out over the street. I called him spoolman and, when spoolman showed there would be screaming and an arrest.
  7. There was some show that was a bunch of older ladies and a dude or two with some weird background and they sang/chanted the same song for a long time. Just nonsense - maybe it was religious - not certain - but under the right conditions that garbage would suck you in.
  8. I watched many hours of this shit. Alex Jones then was one of the more normal ones.
  9. If you gave me 10 years of royalty checks, unlimited internet, tv and marijuana, unrestrained by the responsibilities of my family and professional career, I would be worse. Compare him to some of the shit we watched on Austin public access from 1995-2005 and he’s average to boring. Maybe we should applaud him for being somewhat more sensible than Britney Spears. I mean, his clothes are on and he’s not dancing with knives.
  10. They’re going to smash your hand with a hammer.
  11. Watched it. Hot take - here goes. McCarthy comes off as insecure. He wants to say “We were all gonna be the next Tom Hanks and Orson Welles until this news article hung a label on us and ruined our careers.” Demi rattles off a bunch of shit she heard at therapy to calm him “there was an againstness against us.” Rob Lowe tells him he missed the point. That label guaranteed your staying power - now your part of something bigger than yourself. What I think really happened is MCArthy couldn’t turn early success into lasting success and he wants to blame someone. Emilio is kinda like “I’m good bro - had to springboard off all yall to get my success - feel a little bad about that but not really.” I don’t think this movie is good for his legacy. Would have been better served saying “look at us now - we didn’t die of suicide and cocaine induced heart attacks like you all thought we would.”
  12. I was romantically involved with aggy med student in 2001 in Temple, Texas. Leave Austin Go to Temple Romance aggy. mistakes were made.
  13. Right now there are thousands of people trying to think up a way to one up this for Youtube views.
  14. If I buy a gun to shoot up a school, my sentencing hearing will go differently than if I bought a gun to kill a nuisance armadillo. Maybe same crime - false atf form - not same outcome.
  15. I’m curious to see how the other case shakes out and what constitutes “relevant conduct.” Was there evidence about why he bought gun? Ice a crack dealer? Protect the stash?
  16. Koala’s not a bear. That’s a raccoon.
  17. I was with you until the last sentence. I think it goes Polar Grizzly The rest of yall bears. Fight me.
  18. Headed to Crider's in a couple of weeks, so this hits close to home.
  19. No, people are free from harassment and crime on every corner in America, no matter their skin color. It’s a colorblind Utopia.
  20. Next up, the “my uncle is a prince and he left me $10million but I don’t have a bank account in my country so give me your account number,” and “your car warranty is about to expire” people are about to clean them out. That is, if they don’t figure out only fans first.
  21. @troph What’s the rule on Cuba? I would pay a premium for a run over to Havana, couple of nights on my boat, then out with nothing but a passport stamp. Thats got to be similar distance from Islamorada to Bahamas right?
  22. I’m in a “moorings 4200” for a week in July. First year boat and it’s $5300 for the week. Sail some but I’ll still spend a chunk on fuel, I’m sure. What’s a fly guide in bvi cost for a day? $1,000 all in including tip and gambling money (if you’re not gambling with your fishing guide you’re missing out on one of my life’s greatest pleasures)? Probably double that if you wanted to be there for a busy week like new years. If you want a 50, get a 50, but that’s a big boat.
  23. I I’d like to see that expense breakdown. Add fuel captain and a deckhand?
  24. My favorite time on the go-kart was when you would hit a fire ant mound and scoop that sumbitch and all its residents up into your gokart floor board. Then, about 3 minutes later they would all attack and sting simultaneously. Emergency stop, jump out of the go-kart and run around in circles flailing on a hot ass south texas day. I'm sure the wine-soaked housewives in the neighborhood thought I looked like Big Daddy Garlits or Cha-cha Muldowney on fire in Heart Like a Wheel.
  25. We got the apostrophe police here now. what kind of bike did you rock, ya sissy?
