  1. They can't even fuckin' spell "jorunalist."
  2. Was this just Mitchell being Michel (again), or was he not projected to fit well into PK's defense?
  3. That was before we put Stoney Clark in at DT. Or was Casey Hampton? Or was it before we put Nobis in at MLB. I forget . . .
  4. Somewhere, the Lone Ranger is pissed.
  5. It really is the off-season, huh?
  6. I was too. Until Maryland. The first Maryland.
  7. In a perfect world, Sark would have done everything he could to keep BC. (He may have; who knows?) Dress it up any way you want, Carrington's going to SC to recruit. We're going to miss him a hell of a lot. You can point to all the rainmaking coaches we hired, but why not couple them with a proven off-the-field guy like BC? Hate to lose him.
  8. Not a bad get, considering it's Kansas and most of their seniors have hit the portal. (I guess the sound / of the outward bound / made them a slave . . .)
  9. How do some people keep falling up? (Well, in title if not money.)
  10. My banal contribution: Six of us were canoeing down the Guadalupe in three rented aluminum canoes. No experience, no equipment, no common sense. Plenty of drunk. We hit some rapids that tumped all three canoes over. The current was so swift it bent one of canoes around a rock. Ruined it. We had to buy it. The current grabbed me and rolled me helplessly like a bowling ball underwater. The only thing that saved me was getting spun out the other side of the rapids. We were coughing and spitting on the bank when two pairs of semi-professional kyakers walked past us--spandex, life jackets, knee pads, elbow pads, helmets. They were porting around the rapids we were just stupid enough to try and paddle through in open canoes. They looked at us and just shook their heads. Yes, I'm a shitty (former) canoer.
  11. ". . . and we thank you for your support." --Frank and Ed.
  12. Somebody needs to tell Urbs that you don't recruit in the League, you draft. Oh, and you also coach, so the Lupoi hire looks kind of . . .
  13. Central America Health Sciences, Belize. Or maybe Escuela Latinoamericana de Medicina in the Caymans.
  14. Kinne's dad recovered, albeit without a portion of his digestive tract, and was hired to coach linebackers at Baylor, with the unwritten assumption that son Kinne would sign there. Instead, he signed with us. As I mentioned earlier, I sure wish he'd stayed on the Forty.
  15. Little-known fact: Traylor coached G.J. Kinne, a pretty fair little QB who signed with us in 2007 but was stuck behind Colt. He transferred and performed very well at Tulsa. He had a few cups of coffee in the League and played Canadian ball for a year. I wish he'd stayed and waited it out with us because in 2010 we had Squints, Connor Wood (who?) and Sherrod Harris. What a cluster-fuck. Traylor recruited Kinne (literally) after his junior year at Canton, where he'd shown great promise. Gilmer was the Alabama of ETex at that time so I'm sure to Kinne the grass looked greener there. Kinne is now the OC and QB coach at Hawaii. One of TH's many, many mistakes was not keeping Traylor. Oh, well . . .
  16. Totally agree. And Brian Jones ain't all that great. What does that say about Achoo?
  17. Do we still have anybody with close ties to the HS coaches? We didn't retain many from TH's staff (which is a good thing). I know Carrington's still here and that's good, but I was hoping we could have "one of them" to interface with the coaches around the state.
  18. Don't know where else to post this. I haven't seen any mention of Bob Shipley. Is he still with the program? If so, will he help the new staff with Texas high school coaches?
  19. The Swampers or, better yet, The Wrecking Crew.
  20. Yeah, it worries the shit out of me that Sark, the guy who's supposed to lead us back to our rightful place in CFB royalty, didn't have sense enough not to offer bob fuckin' stoops. Thank God somebody stepped in and stopped it, hopefully the AD. If CDC himself signed off on it and somebody above him had to nix the idea, then God help us, 'cause we just bought us a metric ton of iron pyrites.
