Itās not that I donāt think Iām hire-able. Not to get too real lifey but itās the housing situation that would be an impediment. My credit is shit for a multitude of reasons - primarily being that I was married for 25 years to a man who made five times as much as I did and due to many other factors - some my fault, some not - I donāt think I could afford to live somewhere like Chicago or NYC and continue rebuilding and establishing my own credit history. Plus, I claim my daughter as a dependent for tax purposes - it benefits me more financially and I need to stay in state until she finishes college (and probably grad school and law school) for in state tuition. And, letās face it, a lot of companies arenāt keen to hire a woman in her 50s (probably closer to 60 by the time my daughter finishes grad school and law school) from halfway across the country when they can hire a local in their 30s for half the salary. I just donāt think a lot of places in bigger cities would give me a chance to even get to an interview.
