I know a choker when I see one. That goofy idiot is a choker. You don't want the game on the line and things coming down to that guy. Jesus. The thought of it gives me the shivers.

Also, this is one post that has the chance to age really, really well. If the dude rips off 3 game winners as Texas marches to the national title, I'll bask in the mockery.

Yep, he's no "ice-water-in-his-veins" clutch kicker like Jeff Ward was, nor one of the other Texas clutch kickers, like Justin Tucker.

So far Bert's FGs-made stats are similar (70% this year) to the near 70% FGs-made stats Wayne Clements put up.

In the '89 RRS, I'll always remember Clements had his XP blocked into his face, so he grabbed the ball and threw it to TE Curtis Thrift for a 2-pt conversion instead -- really a play that you never forget once you see it in person. We all went nuts, and the celebration wasn't drowned out by too-loud music/commercials.

Best gameday apparel is Johnnie-O imo (link below). Too bad it's never cold enough to actually wear their Q-zips to the games. Great high-quality golf polos though.

I have a ton of Rhoback golf polos as well, but I like this brand as much or better tbh. Rhoback just needs to go ahead and pony up for the collegiate licensing for the big schools, instead of their near-worthless NIL deal with Klubnik.

    https://www.universitycoop.com/brand/Johnnie-O

Too bad Johnnie-O only makes the Texas Longhorns polos for people with narrow shoulders.

    Per the Johnnie-O size guide, a Men's 2XL is for a 46-48 chest? That's a tiny 2XL!

Yes, they do make Big & Tall polos, but not any Big & Tall Texas Longhorns polos. Snookered.

Cutter & Buck, Tommy Bahama, etc., at least make Texas Longhorns polos in larger sizes than 2XL that broad-shouldered people can actually wear.

Anybody wanna cut 'n paste this if you're one of the last 7 paying subscribers to the Statesman.   I think there's Fall Ball schedule info in there..

Maybe they all canceled their AAS subscriptions.  Lulz.

Came here to post this. I'd bet the jacket ends up around $1k and it'll be worth every penny.

I liked the one the Co-Op had for sale after the 2005 MNC -- and it doesn't have a burnt-orange fried-rice-owl on it, neither.

All of that october's-very-own apparel needs to delete that owl -- they're probably ignorant.

We don't need one of our SWC-left-behinds' logos on our Texas clothes -- It's not styled exactly the same as rice's, but it's still annoying to see it there.

40-odd years ago when Ward was a Westlake senior soccer player he dribbled the ball the length of the  field right around my Reagan freshman son to score a goal.
Son has been pissed at himself ever since, even though he made 1st team All-District and played for the AISD city championship.

My BIL's father is still pissed at how Ward mauled his son (deserved fouls/cards but none were issued) in soccer matches back then.

  6. SEC refs blew this call completely, but only when BamaJelly gets screwed over (and not when Texas gets screwed over) does it make it into a major outlet like CBS Sports:

SEC officials make major blunder in Alabama vs. Ole Miss as mistake alters Crimson Tide drive
Alabama kicked a field goal to take the lead, but should have had another shot at a touchdown

One of the wildest officiating errors of the season occurred in the third quarter of No. 13 Alabama's 24-10 win over No. 15 Ole Miss at Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The Crimson Tide were down 7-6 and driving deep in the red zone. Running back Roydell Williams picked up a first down on a five-yard run to the 11-yard line. However, the down marker and chains did not move prior to the next snap. Coach Nick Saban, quarterback  Jalen Milroe and the rest of the staff treated the next play -- a one-yard quarterback sneak by Milroe -- as a third-and-inches rather than a first-and-10.

Two plays later, Alabama was forced to send out kicker Will Reichard, who booted a 23-yard field goal to give his team a 10-7 lead. Though we may never know what would have transpired had the officials gotten the call right, Alabama almost certainly would have changed its play call from a quarterback sneak if it knew it had a first-and-10.

On the broadcast, viewers could clearly see confusion among members on the chain gang when this wild series of events began. It may not have cost Alabama the game, but it was a mistake all the same.

He was also a professor at UT, and I took his l class back in 2009 or 2010. Literally the only thing that stuck with me from that course was how much Jeff Ward despised meetings. In his mind, nothing was more of a time waste than a meeting, and he reiterated that almost every lecture.

    /csb

I knew he was a UT adjunct prof, but that was 23 years after the fact of his playing career at Texas, which was my point.

I still have my "I KICKED JEFF WARD'S ASS!" & "I RULE! / THE SPORTS DAY GUYS BLOW!" pick'em contest winner T-shirts from his Sports Day radio show with Bill Shoening years.  Lulz.

i can't remember a smoking crater on special teams like we had last night

unfortunately, auburn is not clutch, great kid, wish he had the dawserxtuckmojo

maybe we should have dedicated kick fielders?

JeffWardMojo would be preferable for Texas placekickers.

The kids on this board thinks Ward is just a podcast/talk-radio host. Lulz.

In Round Rock, the hail fucked up cars real good. My truck has crazy hail damage and it cracked the windshield and broke mirrors and brake lights. My house has broken windows, lights, and I am sure the roof is fucked.

I'm near Brushy Creek, and all cars that were not under some kind of cover have glass damage.

I lost 2 living room windows -- 1 of which was double-pane glass must have been hit twice and got a hole bigger than my fist to the outside air.  I already patched that until it can be replaced.  The other window had all kinds of breakage on the outside pane, but nothing came through the inside that I can tell.

Where I'm at in RR, any windows that weren't under a big enough awning that faced East got lots of damage.

My garage saved any car damage.

As bad as the wait is going to be here for car and car-glass repairs, if I had a car with glass damage I'd hightail it to Houston or Dallas to not have to wait forever to get it fixed.

    What a MESS!  FFS

Michigan State is wearing some unusual helmets. I had to Google it. Apparently it’s a “throwback” to the original Michigan Agricultural College logo. Naturally, it drew MAC school comparisons.

    Apropos.

They're playing like a MAC school now.

    Helmet logo checks out.  Lulz.
