  1. Yeah animal cruelty is a classic red flag. This shit is just sociopathic and gross, Indont know what else to say. I hope they can find the perps. I honestly don’t know if it ends up being bulletin board material - prep is basically done at this point anyway - but it certainly won’t build any goodwill.
  2. Yeah that wasn’t a shot at you specifically. After the recruiting drama and entering the portal the first time I think anyone would have guessed his days were numbered once it was clear Baxter and Brooks were going to get the PT. I certainly would have.
  3. Going into the year it seemed like a Blue transfer was a foregone conclusion but he has consistently impressed. Really hope he ducks around. For as fast and explosive as he is, he also runs a lot harder than you’d expect
  4. Alabama scores a TD and takes a 16-13 lead at the very end of the third quarter, winning the third quarter 10-0. This coming off a first half where Texas went to the locker room up 13-6 but should have been winning by at least 4 more points. We have seen this movie before. Texas then proceeds to knife down the field for a TD, pick Alabama off deep in their own territory, and convert a TD on the first play off the turnover, with DJ Campbell blocking two Alabama defenders on the TD run. A three point deficit becomes an 11 point lead in like 90 seconds of game time. That was pretty fucking cool to see them flip the script like that. Honorable mention to both Sweat and Murphy going off on ISU and holding them to 9 yards rushing after their OL popped off in the media and just demolishing Tech after a year of chirping. That isn’t quite the most electric I’ve ever seen DKR but it is up there. Honestly my favorite single play in terms of excitement in the moment was probably the J Brooks run to tie the OU game at 27. It felt like after a whole day of shooting themselves in the foot, Texas had finally gotten right and established momentum that was going to win them the game.
  5. They may have, it’s Venables after all. But unless Texas had signs for “throw it right at the CB that doesn’t move instead of the wide open slant in the slot,” “drop this pass and have it float in the air forever so it is picked,” and “get your shit rocked four times when you need one yard,” I don’t think signals were a big factor. Texas offense was good when it got out of its own way. Just one of those games unfortunately. Wish it was against Kansas or some shit instead but oh well. The way the team rebounded after the loss has been impressive. Plenty of Texas teams have lost that game, still had or ended up everything in front of them, and failed to capitalize. Close on an outright Big 12 title tomorrow and it’s just a bump in the road.
  6. This is not the slight people want to read it as but I’m surprised Gundy would put that out there regardless. No, they don’t, because it would be extremely obvious and cause credibility issues for the conference and its teams going forward. Texas shouldn’t expect much in terms of judgment calls but it won’t go beyond that.
  7. I was told the Big 12 would absolutely risk costing itself millions in CFP revenue to fuck Texas tho
  8. Next year obviously Arkansas and aggy. Looking forward to LSU. Baton Rouge sucks but we owe them a trip and I think that series is going to develop a rivalry feel quickly. I’ve heard Athens and Knoxville are nice. I guess one has to go to The Grove once in their life.
  9. Aren’t the top 4 conference champs the first round byes though? Or did that get scrapped?
  10. But I don't. I want to go with the guy who demonstrated the best overall football coaching ability. Kansas is 9-3 or even 10-2 if they even just have their second string QB vs Tech and K State. I don't think it's appreciated how bonkers that is, and how impressive it is to continue building off of the huge step they took last year. He'd have won it last year if TCU didn't luck into a 12-0 season.
  11. Sark has done a nice job this year. He has a shitload of talent at his disposal but going 11-1 is hard playing Alabama and a 9-game B12 schedule. And of course, not only did he recruit and/or develop that talent, he has repaired the foundation of the program to a state it hasn't been in for 15+ years. He deserves a lot of credit. That said, Lance Leipold should be coach of the year and it is not close. He has Kansas 8-4 and an upper tier team in the conference playing all but one league game on 2nd/3rd string QBs. He beat Oklahoma. Y'all understand that is the second best team in the conference and Texas's opponent this Saturday if Jalon Daniels is healthy for even a couple of the losses they took, right? That is a fucking mind boggling ridiculous accomplishment given where Kansas was just two years ago. This is what stood out to me. Both of those are lolz
  12. Still stings. Texas was thoroughly outplayed and outcoached. Honestly really weird for both teams looking back on the full season. And yeah, the Worthy 4th down facemask screenshotted above absolutely should have been called, but you shouldn't need a new set of downs from a 4th down penalty to score from 1st and goal at the 1. Losing Jake Majors early and having to play Connor Robertson, having basically no JT Sanders, and no Ryan Watts didn't help either. Honestly Texas lost to OU a dozen different ways. Change any one or two of them and the outcome is different. Chalk it up to "weird hit happens in the Cotton Bowl" and hope Texas circles the game next year like OU very obviously did this year (and always seems to). I think that's my hope for the silver lining of that game. Sark has now been on the receiving end of two all-time OU victories between the 2021 choke and this year's game winning drive. This year he had the definitively better team. I am hoping he is crystal clear on the meaning of that game going forward.
  13. lol hearing F bombs in Herbstriet's voice is just weird. Have dinner reservations Saturday night and honestly I'm fine with that. Don't need to be stress watching FSU vs Louisville. Texas is either a 12-1 Big 12 Champion and it is the best sports day in 14 years or they aren't and no one cares about FSU.
  14. I would not compare this year to 2018 thus far, it's actually kind of the opposite. 2018 stumbled out the gate against a less than premier OOC opponent, overperformed in Dallas, and then blew a couple of conference games but still backed into the CCG as an underdog 2 seed; this year's team team got a huge win early, played one of its worst games of the year in Dallas, and is otherwise undefeated and is an outright 1 seed/heavy CCG favorite. Not even comparable to date. But lose the next two games and all of a sudden they look comparable. 10-4 with an OU and Sugar Bowl win vs 11-3 and the Alabama win, but a L in Dallas, and a huge upset in the CCG followed by an underwhelming NY6 Bowl performance. Not a ton of daylight there. Finishing matters. Fortunately I'm confident they can close this thing on Saturday.
  15. My bar for success to start the year was a 9-3 regular season record, OU win, and trip to Arlington. Two outta three ain’t bad. I think an outright B12 title makes up for the OU loss and qualifies this year as a categorical success, and you’re playing with house money in a bowl or CFP. Lose on Saturday and 11-2 is still nice, but feels a little hollow with no Golden Hat or B12 trophy, and playing a G5 team in the NY6.
  16. Weird this board loves to ignore this when complaining about the Big 12
  17. First and foremost playing OSU helps us in that it would be a colossal fuckup to lose the game. OU, I don’t think tossup is quite right but a loss would be much easier to envision. A win over OU would help more than OSU though; higher ranked team and you get the avenged loss and beating everyone on the schedule factors. But Texas would still need all of the same help it does now so for me the higher risk of losing isn’t worth it. OSU probably will stay ranked, the CFP committee has never really punished lower ranked CCG losers that much - which tracks logically. If number 19 or whatever loses to number 7 and doesn’t get completely embarrassed, in my mind that justifies their ranking as opposed to saying they need to be moved down.
  18. Yep. This country already has universal healthcare. We just do it in the most expensive, lease effective way possible.
  19. Why does that person hate making money?
