  1. A Canadian professor says that Canada can't afford to do that because it would take 10 years. If the Chinese were smart, they'd offer Canada a great plane at like 20% of what the F-35 costs. The Canadians, in turn, would study the proposal. The howls from Republican senators and congressmen would be worth it. https://calgaryherald.com/news/carney-revisiting-canadas-purchase-of-f-35-fighter-jets-but-why-dont-we-make-our-own-planes
  2. I'm sure all of the reporters are scared. What's she going to do, exfoliate on them?
  3. This was my favorite season. 1 my second favorite, 2 I thought was atrocious.
  4. I would have thought 1.2 million excess deaths (as estimated by the CDC and bolstered by the National Academy of Sciences) would have done it, but I guess that was too much to ask.
  5. If Trump runs again, can we get Obama to run again?
  6. Okay ... I just watched his highlight reel. I like his size, his athleticism, and his game. I read that he was only 6'8" as a high school junior, which means he's just now growing into his body. I think he's going to grow into being a great player for us.
  7. In 1980, the U.S. share of world GDP was right at 25%. That's where it is today. In the meantime, we got so rich that we have to have mini-storage warehouses, which barely existed then, to hold our stuff, and the rest of the world got richer, too. Mission accomplished. Until now.
  8. First time to read this thread. Glad Wulaw made it.
  9. Social security administration in a "death spiral." https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/06/musk-doge-social-security Office closures, staffing and service cuts, and policy changes at the Social Security Administration (SSA) have caused “complete, utter chaos” and are threatening to send the agency into a “death spiral”, according to workers at the agency. The SSA operates the largest government program in the US, administering social insurance programs, including retirement, disability and survivor benefits. An average of almost 69 million Americans per month will receive a social security benefit in 2025, totaling about $1.6tn in benefits paid during the year and accounting for 22% of the federal budget. While expensive and challenged by an ageing population, social security remains overwhelmingly popular with Americans. But the agency has been dubbed a “Ponzi scheme” by Elon Musk, the billionaire whose so-called “department of government efficiency” (Doge) is currently slashing its staff and budgets.
  10. I don't know who this Canadian is but I like the cut of his jib.
  11. I don't think you know shit about the situation. Otherwise, you would have supplied a rebuttal.
  12. @tonyrox845 deleted his Twitter account. Probably a good idea. I was going to shit on him.
  13. "Over the past several years, the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) has quietly built out an expansive surveillance apparatus—one that’s increasingly powered by artificial intelligence. Many of these technology acquisitions have been made under the auspices of Governor Greg Abbott’s Operation Lone Star, an $11 billion program that has supercharged the state’s decades-long border militarization. The powerful and well-funded state police agency has not just expanded its existing surveillance capabilities, which include a fleet of spy planes, unmanned drones, and a network of wildlife game cameras that are deployed all across the borderlands of Texas, but it also is increasingly using AI-powered software to perform intelligence gathering. DPS records obtained and reviewed by the Texas Observer in recent months shed new light on the scope of the state police’s surveillance toolbox. The agency has spent millions acquiring an array of powerful—and controversial—artificial intelligence software tools that can mine billions of images to provide facial recognition, track vehicle locations from automatic license plate readers, monitor phone conversations of inmates in Texas prisons and jails, break into and search for data evidence from seized cell phones and computers, and even track cell phones without a warrant.... The Legislature has supported this expansion with ample new funding for DPS. Last session, the biennial budget gave DPS $22.2 million to acquire “Advanced Analytics & Threat Detection Software”; over $6 million for Intelligence and Counterterrorism Division (ICT) “technology projects”; and $17 million to expand its Operation Drawbridge network of surveillance cameras along the border." https://www.texasobserver.org/
  14. Gunther Eagleman says that all of these people are funded by George Soros.
  15. UH fans start a petition to keep Ted out of San Antonio this weekend.
  16. After today, Trump owns the top EIGHT best Dow Jones drops in American history.
  17. The simulation is not amusing me. Guess who rang the opening bell yesterday morning, when the Dow tanked 1700 points?
  18. "Sure, I'm driving this goddamn train off a cliff. But you have to trust me. There will be some suffering in the short term but there will be a bigly pay off in the end." ---- train conductor who has already driven multiple trains off a cliff
  19. If only Trump had seen Ferris Bueller this whole thing could have been avoided!
  20. This probably goes in the unpopular opinions thread and I know I will be excoriated but, in the off season, I actually like Ketchum's show with Chad Hastings better than the seven-times-per-day OTF offerings. You can start beating me up now.
