  2. Wait a minute ... the house Freedom Caucus isn't about actual ... freedom?
  3. Abbott: George Soros gave a WHOPPING 2.1 million in "BIG MONEY out-of-state" dollars to make Texas a liberal paradise. Also Abbott: I took six million dollars from Pennsylvanian Jeff Yass to fund a harmful school voucher campaign that will close rural Texas schools. Shameless and shameful.
  4. I think he's a bigger, stronger but perhaps slightly less mobile Ewers.
  5. Bo Michael Dresner, former precinct chair and sergeant-at-arms for the Hays County Republican Party, sentenced to 410 years on child pornography and continuous sexual exploitation of children. Evidence presented included testimony from his daughter and another child who had previously lived in his home. https://cbsaustin.com/news/local/hays-county-man-sentenced-to-410-years-for-sexually-abusing-children
  6. The Royal Family just released this photo, taken yesterday morning, to clear things up.
  7. You could do a lot worse than a guy who has 52 career TDs vs. 24 INTs.
  8. Ken Buck is one of the few who has shown any form of backbone.
  9. All of that is just Florida clearing its throat and saying "hold my beer."

  11. Well, one of my grandfathers was an aggy, so I can't totally deny it.
  12. We just had a day here in Texas in which 70% of the electricity consumed was supplied by renewables. Also, this is awesome: midwestern farmers are embracing solar panels as a hedge against volatlie crop prices. I love the photo of the sheep keeping cool in the shadows of a solar array. https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2024-03-07/america-s-farmers-embrace-solar-panels-to-protect-against-volatile-crop-prices?srnd=green Also, Biden's Inflation Reduction Act has resulted in a flurry of solar energy development in Republican-led Ohio and Indiana.Solar panels are the new cash crop in Republican Ohio and Indiana. I LOVE THIS paragraph: "Developers are expected to install 15 gigawatts’ worth of new photovoltaic panels in the two states, enough to power about 12 million households. That’s happening even as Ohio has moved to slow, if not thwart, renewable energy projects." https://financialpost.com/commodities/energy/solar-panels-are-the-midwests-new-cash-crop-as-green-energy-booms
  13. Well, I have a bit of an "in" with Visma. I knew that Matteo was in fantastic early-season shape and that Visma was going to go hard on supporting him. Of course, there are a million things that can happen that prevent somebody from winning a bike race but I was pretty sure that Matteo would do well if he could stay upright. He might be too tall to ever win the TDF or the Vuelta or the Giro, but his riding style and position on the bike remind me of a young Indurain, so who knows? He's only 24. And Bradley Wiggins is just as tall and he won the Tour, so all things are possible.
  14. "All he wants to do is appeal to his base. He has no principles. None. His goddamned tweeting and lying... oh my god. I'm talking too freely, but you know. The change of stories. The lack of preparation. The lying. Holy shit. [...] It's the phoniness of it all. It's the phoniness and this cruelty. Donald is cruel." ---- Trump's sister, Judge Maryann Trump Barry, on Donald. She added that he did not read books and had someone take the college entrance exam in his place.
  15. After the Super Bowl my friends were like "oh, shit ... now we have the long dark tea-time of our souls with no sports of consequence until September." I said "no so fast, my friends, I have the Tour de France, which takes up the month of July." Then I started trying to convince them how they should watch and how it's a great break in the summer doldrums. But, no. They're not going to watch skinny ladyboys in tight pants ride bicycles. One of them said "you know how I know you're gay? Not that there's anything wrong with that." Another said "I was thinking I'd just dig up the corpse of Margaret Thatcher and have sex with it. That seems like it would be a lot more fun."
  16. She's from Alabama, a state whose entire population has never drunk a cosmo.
