  1. could be wrong, but i think he is referring to him being strung up from a light pole. which is what should have happened with Trump within minutes of returning from Helsinki. or at any point in time since then.
  2. couple more: oyster po-boy from old tyme grocery in lafayette boudin balls from best stop and road trip warrior
  3. re: social distancing: a mixed bag. in stores (grocery, convenience, hardware), very little to nearly no masks and social distancing other than employees. we had reservations at La Petite Grocery for Father's Day; they called me Saturday and cancelled and said they had someone test positive and they were closing down for several days - so I cooked at my dad's house that night instead. now, the restaurants we went to (some pictured above, some not) all had tables spaced well, employees all masked, and enforcing masks to enter and walk through until at table, no standing at the bar to wait for take out (except for superior seafood, which had just opened back up for dinner and was pretty packed out, including bar seating - no pics of the two dozen oysters i had there). i was looking around for a place not on the itinerary for one night and really, a lot of places (all uptown) were still closed down - and we went by a few other of our favorites over weekend to check them out and they were still closed (high hat, bar frances, upperline). did not go into the quarter at all. unless we are going down to the quarter to go to a specific restaurant and then leave, my GF and I don't spend much time down there - so I can't report on that. we stayed on st. charles uptown and the streetcars were pretty empty the whole long weekend we were there - that tells me the tourists aren't really coming back en masse just yet.
  4. narrator: he actually shits his pants
  5. virtually no line at Parkway at noon on Saturday monday special at dunbar's eggplant napoleon with fried shrimp and crawfish cream sauce at joey k's
  6. i think we have had all of the small plates at comedor that don't get rotated out - but the masa spaetzle is the one dish we get every single time. it would be worth the trip there for just that and a dessert.
  7. narrator: no one is going to do anything about it.
  8. the Lincoln Project stuff is great. serious question (for anyone, really) - what percentage of current Republicans are of this mindset -even generally - that Trump needs to go? 1/20th of 1%? less? way less?
  9. he’ll claim the pictures are fake and it’s a media hoax and 100% of Republicans will buy it
  10. and this is just a tiny taste of what we will see in November.
  11. these are the folks that make @Johnny Sack proud to be a Republican
  12. nope. nothing of consequence will happen, and everyone will be on to the next act of illegality, treason, or blatant racism by the Trump admin in a week’s time, repeat.
  13. I think it’s significantly more than 2 or 3 points. Then add in voter suppression, foreign interference, and outright election rigging - which will all be done out in the open and with the full and unapologetic support of the entire current GOP - and which I predict will be off the charts in comparison to 2016 - and I think a Trump win is well beyond realistic, if not likely. Not “no way he can’t win,” but the polls don’t mean much to me when I factor these things in. Polls are only meaningful if there is a legitimate election process. I have very close to zero confidence in that happening with Republicans involved.
  14. "True. And Donald Trump is doing a great job" - @Johnny Sack
  15. so, a mainstream Republican in 2020 then
  16. i can't remember who posted it about panera, but every time i drive by the one near my office i think of it and chuckle because its so spot on (doing my best to paraphrase it): "why are you paying $27 for a can of campbell's soup mixed with water heated in a microwave and half an airport kiosk sandwich for $27? because fuck you, that's why"
  17. the kale and cranberry salad in the deli case and salad bars at Whole Foods is awesome.
  18. ate at uchiko sat night. sat in the front room and they never allowed more than 4 of the tables in the room to be occupied at one time. I thought to myself, man, I could really get used to this - nice and quiet, nobody seated anywhere close to us. of course, I don't know that restaurants would survive long running at that capacity.
  19. tried these last night. damn these are good. supper chocolatey
  20. this is where I'm at. i would love to join in on all the optimism, but all the evidence steers me away from doing that. I have zero faith that Republicans will allow there to be an open and legitimate election process. i would feel that same way even if Biden were polling at +24.
  21. the mistake argument only works for me if the person to whom it is being applied has since wholly, vocally, and consistently rejected Trump and every single one of his Republican enablers and sycophants and is now actively working to remove them. otherwise, fuck ‘em, and I’ll do my part, however small it may be, to not support them in any way.
  22. yes, I think that’s right. I was thinking the same thing as JJ - “now who was that poster who revealed himself as a complete and utter moron and starting calling anyone who wasn’t buying the QAnon bullshit he was selling a ‘soy boy?’”
  23. I guarantee you, they actually are.
