  1. white american, baby swiss and provolone GCS on homemade sourdough not pictured: chili chez fritos
  2. i have never watched Narcos, but i picked up Zero Zero Zero based on the reccs in this thread, and agree that it is awesome. loved the three stories intertwined together. kept thinking that the brother might be Timothy Hutton's kid.
  3. whoever is responsible for the decision to take rye Triscuits off the market should be publicly executed
  4. haha, i also have to know if this is for real or just a funny characterization of a crummy Alamo-made lasagna
  5. weird, I always though Swam was a dude.
  6. its amazing to me that otherwise rational, sane people believe that there are going to be anything even resembling legitimate elections in November. Republicans are not going to allow themselves, and Trump, to be voted outed of office. that's not speculation, that's being proven in no uncertain terms in real time.
  7. i have not had the book that long so I have only tried a couple of them myself. there are quite a few of her recipes out there online that i have used and that's what ultimately prompted me to get the book. i suspect though, that there is overlap so I have probably done quite a few of them. i am fascinated with all the different ways to make dal - and to me its almost the perfect vegetarian dish - so that's what i usually concentrate on. edit: decided to try this one from Fresh India tonight roasted broccoli with cardamom, nutmeg and almonds chana masala for the entree
  8. we ate at one of Ottolenghi's restaurants - the one in Soho, last year. really enjoyed it. the Guardian is a great resource for recipes and food info and articles. lots of stuff from/about Meera Sodha, who is a master of Indian cooking IMO and particularly vegetarian Indian. Fresh India is a great cookbook, and one of my favorites. I read it even when I'm not looking for a recipe or planning on cooking anything in particular.
  9. "i'm so glad we finally have a president who spends his time trolling the libs. especially during a global pandemic when thousands of Americans are dying every day." -Republicans
  10. sure. i'm not advocating for 100% D govt. but the goal should absolutely be 0% R govt. - even if it is not an attainable goal. Republicans simply have nothing of value to offer. every R that is removed from or replaced in any office is a victory. Trump is A problem, and is surely a dangerous and immediate problem, but THE problem is Republicans - they are the ones who brought us Trump despite 16 other alternatives to choose from (although, admittedly, many of them would have been awful, especially Cruz) - and they are the ones who have continued to support him, and continue to support and elect the sycophants who excuse and foster Trump's complete incompetence and criminality. they can be marginalized and their voices drowned out if enough sane people work at it over time.
  11. it doesn’t stop with getting Trump out of the White House. there needs to be a long - probably decades long - concerted effort to remove every Republican and elected official from every possible office and position of authority at every level - federal, state, local; and to punish and marginalize the voice and influence of Republican voters and supporters going forward. they offer zero value to the country and are huge net negatives to society as a whole.
  12. never forget that 52 Republicans had the opportunity to remove him and prevent the scale of this tragedy from being what it is now, and not only chose not to do so, but wouldn’t even allow evidence to be heard because they knew it was so bad, they couldn’t allow it to be presented. never forget that he has near unanimous support among Republicans in this country as thousands of Americans die each day due to his criminal negligence.
  13. “Donald Trump is smart.” -Republicans
  14. are you talking about Troy? Or Fat Dragon? I think Troy but your quote references both places.
  15. Oh, I don’t necessarily like him personally, and the racist stuff isn’t really ok, I guess...and I wish he’d tone down the Twitter. Now, where was I? Oh yeah.../immediately pulls lever for Trump - Republicans
  16. who are these people willing to admit their mistake and do the right thing NOW? answer: not Republicans.
  17. i would like to sex this up. i was thinking about it and, eggplant parmesan is a dish i really love, and is only great maybe ~2 times out of 10 when i order it out, but have never tried at home. not to say that the other 8/10 are bad, plenty of them are good, just not great. i think the eggplant needs to be cooked just right (not overcooked at all) and it needs high quality ingredients esp. cheese as you mention. and i guess when i am at a really good italian restaurant i tend to order things other than the old classics. yours looks like it was a success, i think i need to put this on my cooking to do list.
  18. thinking Trump is done for assumes that there will be a legitimate, or even semi-legitimate election process. that is not a good assumption. there is literally zero chance that Republicans will allow that to happen. they are actively working to ensure it won’t.
  19. largely correct - Trump will lose the popular vote bigly and win the electoral college pretty handily.
