  1. “I’m so proud of him, good for him for fighting back!” -all Republicans
  2. and all republicans will cheer and roar their approval when he does. the only thing that remains to be seen is which ones do it publicly, and which ones do it behind closed doors.

Asti is one of my regular go-tos. Its louder and more cramped than I prefer for date nights, but we always enjoy it. love the linguine and clams. love la traviata, one of my favorite at home recipes (bolognese) is from there so it will always be a special place for me. don't go there as often as i might like, parking is a hassle been to red ash a few times - we enjoy going before shows at zach or moody. the clams appetizer with a side of the homemade bread is awesome couple not mentioned: juniper and entero - thought both were very good, juniper being the superior of the two - and is great for sharing a bunch of smaller plates
  4. I’d like to think that this is a bit, and that no one can really be this stupid in real life. But sadly, I know that at least 40% of Americans are actually this stupid.

  9. I was on a flight from Austin up to Columbus (through STL maybe?) in 2005 for the UT/Ohio State game. Probably 90% of the passengers are decked out in UT gear, everyone is doing the Eyes, having a great time. Guy a few rows back tries to another drink as we’re starting the descent and the stewardess tells him it’s too late. He says “if I don’t get another drink we’re going to have another 9/11 on our hands here. There was a whole shitload of dudes with semi-automatic guns waiting to arrest him right outside the door of the plane as we landed, lol.

  13. ha, I remember those from when I was a kid - they also made them in the "stick" form (like the regular cheetos) too - both of them were the snacks we had as a "treat" in my house growing up

best collard greens i've had were at ruby's bbq - now closed down. recipe i found for them: 1 ham hock 2 teaspoons cayenne 3 bunches collard greens, cleaned and torn or cut into pieces 1 tablespoons cider vinegar 1 teaspoons salt 1 tablespoons sugar 3 tablespoons butter 1 medium onion, sliced 3 tablespoons garlic, minced Use only fresh, unblemished, brightly colored greens. Discard any bruised or discolored leaves. Get rid of the heavy stems. Wash greens in several fresh water baths—the first two baths should be slightly warm to remove sand and grit effectively. The last bath should be cold. Always lift the greens from the water, never just drain off. Be sure to remove the main rib before tearing or cutting the leaves. Scrub and clean the ham hocks with a vegetable brush under cold running water. Dust with 1 teaspoon cayenne. Place it in a large pot with cold water to cover. Cover and bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer until tender—about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Add more water if necessary. Meat should be very tender (not springy or tough) and about to fall from the bone. When the ham hock is cooked, add the prepared greens, cider vinegar, salt, sugar and remaining teaspoon of cayenne to the pot. Lower the heat and simmer until nearly tender, approximately 45–60 minutes. Stir occasionally and periodically check the greens for tenderness—they should tear easily with a fork when done. If undercooked, they will have a bitter taste and a chewy texture. In a saucepan, or cast-iron skillet, heat the butter and add the onion. Cook slowly over low heat, covered, and stir often until the onion is well softened. Add the garlic and continue to cook until the mixture is slightly caramelized. Add the caramelized onion and garlic to the greens, and cook another 10–15 minutes. When finished, remove the ham hock and, when cool enough to handle, tear or cut the meat into small bite-size pieces. Caution should be used to avoid getting any bone fragments or pieces into the greens. Add the meat back into the greens and stir to distribute.
  15. check out this fucking sandwich
  16. the number of Republicans who answered this honestly is 31% - but the number of Republicans who would cast a vote for it if given the opportunity, is probably between 98% and 100%.
  17. i've done the tasting menu a couple of times, and ordered a la carte many other times, and enjoy both. my .02 - i am not one to pinch pennies when eating out at all - but honestly, ordering a la carte items is way, way better bang for the buck. now, there are items that are only available on the tasting menu that you cannot order otherwise, but unless there is some particular item on the tasting menu that i can't live without, i am doing the a la carte menu every time. point of reference: gf and i had dinner there thursday night - we shared 5 items and were both very satisfied, enough that we didn't want dessert. $61 for 2 without tax/tip. That is a crazy value for a top notch meal. tasting menu would have been $190 - more items, but about the same amount of food. ymmv. *whatever you do, get the shitaake dumplings, they are amazing.

  19. Why isn’t there wireless delivery of electricity for electronics and appliances? We can go to Mars but we can’t figure out how to have a lamp or a tv or a cable box that you don’t need to plug into the wall?
  20. beans straight from the can, and the pile of dirty laundry in a chair in the background really ties the picture together
