  1. i think Biden announcing today would put more attention on Trump's speech tonight. i have zero interest in Trump's speech, but if Joe announces today that's he's dropping out, i think i'd tune in to see what Trump says about it. because that's all he'll talk about. "I beat Sleepy Joe so bad in that debate that he had to drop out. He couldn't take it. They even tried to assassinate me but it didn't help Sleepy Joe's number, so he's putting his tail between his legs and dropping out like a dog. He's a coward." it'll be brutal. and i'd probably (unfortunately) tune in for it. i think a lot of people would. so if Biden steps aside, i hope they don't give Trump the ability to gloat about it tonight. he'll gloat when it happens, but not at their fucking convention.
  2. What's Tim Kaine up to these days? That was a helluva pick.
  3. I'm stepping down, I'm not running for President. One last time.
  4. Dems didn't want some young whippersnapper.* *Warren was 71. But Biden was 77 and Bernie was 78.
  5. Postage Stamp may be the best short par 3 in the world. Love the Par 3 Channel.
  6. JT birdies 18. Clubhouse leader at -3. UT golfer Tommy Morrison is in the field. Became the first American to win the European Amateur last month. He got a Longhorn shoutout on the Euro feed. They commented on his big feet too.
  7. this is probably the truest statement on this thread. Cafe Annie, Abacus, The Mansion on Turtle Creek, Routh Street Cafe. those were all worthy of a star. groundbreaking Southwestern cuisine that would have matched up with Michelin criteria.
  8. build up play was great. but at times, they were way too cute in the final third. too many passes in the box. shoot the ball. maybe you'll get a deflection or rebound.
  9. This is brutal.
  10. that's a good point about Vector's hours. gotta get pickup orders in early. and can't ever really go there to watch a game because they shut it down before primetime games end. Taco Joint is next to Birdie's. and the other side of Audelia has Shady's, Cedar & Vine, and Resident Taqueria. not a bad little area for food.
  11. for a little more perspective, Michelin just gave its first ever rankings for Mexico, and the entire country had 18 restaurants receive stars. two got 2 stars, and 16 got 1 star. Pujol and Quintonil got two stars, and those are world famous. i can't imagine any Austin (or any Texas) restaurant will get 2 stars in the debut rankings. https://robbreport.com/food-drink/dining/el-califa-de-leon-michelin-starred-taqueria-1235628964/ the X factor here is that a taco stand in Mexico City got a star. you would hope that a few BBQ joints (like Franklin or Cattleack in Dallas or Goldee's in Ft. Worth) will be considered, as well as some taco joints. and that could raise the number a little bit.
  12. this is a subject that is near and dear to me as i get older and look at exit strategies if things in Texas really get turnt up. i've got little ones so i've got a lot of considerations as i get closer to retirement. i'm definitely considering the Great Lakes area as a possible refuge. if not to move there, then to buy a little vacation home for the summers.
  13. you're looking backwards. you've got to look to the future. Madison is regularly cited as a "climate haven" where people will be moving to in order to escape the heat or extreme weather events brought about by climate change. https://theconversation.com/looking-for-a-us-climate-haven-away-from-disaster-risks-good-luck-finding-one-211990 i'd absolutely consider Ann Arbor or Madison. ruling them out but considering Scottsdale/Phoenix seems insane. click on the video to see what are considered climate havens:
  14. i still love how Wally Pryor never realized there was an apostrophe in "Gatti's." at every UT game i went to, he always called it Mr. Gat-tiss instead of Mr. Gat-tees. man i loved the Gatti's buffet, even as an adult.
  15. in Dallas, i'd expect Lucia and Purepecha to be in consideration for a star, maybe Petra & the Beast. Houston will likely lead the pack. 19 Austin restaurants getting a star is the most delusional prediction i've read in a while, and i read the Cloak Room and $9.95 regularly.
  16. good to hear. we loved RM Bistro. haven't tried Goldie's but we will soon since we're so close to it.
  17. motherfucker. you had 50 yard line tickets to the Super Bowl. holy shit, those seats are incredible. sponsor hooked you up.
