  1. Got damn that China woman turned her head full Klingon. Has there been any news on if she's ok? That looks like cranial hemorrhage
  2. It also doesn't have the potential to require 10 to 20 percent of infected individuals to need hospitalization and supplied oxygen/fluids for 7 to 21 days each. And doesn't have the ability to rapidly infect millions in a matter of weeks. I don't get how hard it is to understand that preparing now might prevent an overrun national health care system while failing to prepare now could easily result in hospitals being over run quickly and most who need emergency care not being able to receive it. For fucks sake shut down your games and festivals and concerts and schools for just a few weeks until we see how well we can control the rate of spread. It's not asking that much for the opportunity to curb the rate of infection of a global pandemic.
  3. Those feds are the dumb people trump appointed to replace the people he ran off because they worked for Obama.
  4. Given your wife's condition it's of the upmost importance to you to take extra precaution. Think of it like this. You keep him out this week and he gets spring break the week after so you have 2 weeks to let things play out then evaluate where it's at. What's the worst that can happen from that decision? He misses some work? You can talk to the teachers and explain the situation and probably get him work to do at home. Option 2: you send him this week, find out the fed blowing the coronavirus testing strategy means it's far more rampant here than we know now so he contracts it and brings it home to you and the wife. Now her life is in jeopardy. Seems to me the worst case cost of sending him outweighs the worst case cost of not sending him. Just what I would do though.
  5. What I'm saying is you can't trust American faucet water to drink in normal circumstances so if you think you might be quarantined and stuck in your home for a few weeks you'd rather have enough safe drinking water to not have to resort to unsafe tap water. It makes sense. The toilet paper thing though... That's just hilarious
  6. That's what I've been saying. Look at Italy, SK, what we can see from China and Iran. Get ahead of this thing now so it doesn't kill our economy later. Cancel school at spring break and shift to online learning/at home test kits. Summer school for anyone who can't or won't do it. Postpone/reschedule all large groups of people. All concerts postpone until June at earliest. All sporting events played without fans but still televised. Keep pumping out how important it is to wash your hands and don't touch your face/mouth until you've washed them. Disinfect surfaces in your home with alcohol/disinfectant once a day. Don't touch things like elevator buttons or doors with your fingers unless necessary. Use knuckles/feet to open doors that can be. Keep hand sanitizer for times you do things like touch door knobs or gas pumps. If you get sick stay the fuck home and if it's a fever or you feel like you can't breathe go to the doctor. The got damn fed needs to get off it's ass and set up make shift testing/treatment centers ASAP. Over preparing now at worst means nothing big happens and it was all for nothing but life goes on like usual in a couple of months. Not over preparing now at worst means it runs rampant and overtakes our health care system leading to tens/hundreds of thousands or even million+ American deaths. Sorry the very real threat of a world wide pandemic has inconveniences but for fucks sake let's over prepare now instead of dealing with the fallout later.

  8. Love this one. In 2018 there were 36,650 deaths from fatal motor vehicle crashes in the US. The US has approx 350,000,000 people. For simplicity sake we take a very modest number and say every person in the US averages 1 hour per day in a motor vehicle (which is very low as it's probably more like 2-3 or more). So that means Americans spend 127.75 billion hours a year in a motor vehicle. So 36,650 deaths out of at minimum 127.75 billion hours driven gives a death per hour in motor vehicle rate of: 2.86 x 10 -7 power. Again that's a very low estimate of hours per year. Motorcycle deaths account for a disproportionate rate of death compared to 4 or more wheeled vehicles so take those out if you never ride a motorcycle and it plummets even further. So, yeah... No.
  9. I'd reschedule any trips to summer if I can get it cheaply. It likely will plow through the US in the next three months infecting a few million then die down around mid June. If the US actually does the smart thing and cancels school and any large gatherings if could slow down sooner. Chances are of it mutates it'll be to a weaker and less lethal version so getting it months down the road would probably be preferable. No way in hell I go anywhere near a plane in next three months. Or a boat for far longer.
  10. They have too many events now. That midge fight from last Saturday should have been an undercard fight here. They should limit to one ESPN fight night and one PPV per month. Is this O'Malley's first fight in about 18 or so months?
  11. What about the 10-20 percent with bad enough hypoxemia that required incubation and external oxygen for 10 to 21 days to survive? Also the China cases slowing down can be attributed to China basically shutting it's country down to a level only a totalitarian regime can get away with. That level isn't happening here but that doesn't mean we shouldn't shut off large gatherings of people until we know exactly what we're dealing with. A huge problem is the fed thumbing its own ass for 2 months looking to fuck this up however possible instead of actually getting on the ball to get tests out everywhere possible.
  12. They could do it in stages say 2 weeks at a time based on the virus rate of spread and/or administer "at home kits" to do the work with online instruction. Anyone who can't or won't do online instruction can finish in summer school. Basically it's time to get creative because leaving schools open would exponentially increase the rate of infection vs closing them. Kids aren't going to be washing their hands and acting safe, especially the elementary and JR high ones. Then they'll all contaminate all of their parents and grandparents no matter how many precautions the adults take. Number one priority should be get to the summer months and hope the heat slows down the rate of spread on its own and buys time to get organized for winter testing and treatment. If they refuse to cancel school then all of this is moot and might as well just go on with SXSW and all events as normal and whoever dies as a result of the health care network being overrun dies.
  13. It's not about bodies piling up in the streets. This isn't the flu, this virus so far has shown 10 to 20 percent of infected needing hospitalization and 2-3 weeks of supplemental oxygen due to hypoxemia. It's not just old people as young patients have also shown to require it. There's zero chance of containing this outbreak now so the play is to limit exposure as much as possible so it spreads slowly enough where the infected people who need hospitalization do not overwhelm the available resources and really cause massive issues. Having tens/hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world gathering together in one place is the worst thing we can do right now. If in the next couple of weeks this thing looks to be spreading faster then between now and June any large gathering of people needs to be cancelled or in the case of televised sporting events played without fans. All schools should end their school year at spring break. Let's isolate as much as possible to allow this disease to slow dramatically. It's drastic but the consequences of having millions become infected in relatively short order and overwhelming our medical resources is far worse.
  14. no shit, I've been saying since that fuck took office and they passed that horrific tax bill that keeping interest rates and corporate taxes artificially low during a bull economy means we won't have much in the way of combating a major recession or depression. The marauders are storming the gates and we've given all our gun powder to the top 1% of the population to store for themselves.
  15. Well when you have a low-level primate with shit for brains running the country these are the types of fuck ups you can expect. it's so simple but yet still somehow too complicated for millions of the idiots in this country to understand. Well, I guess we'll see just how many millions of idiots there are come October.
  16. You sure spend a ton of time caring about what I say. Some might even say it rises to the level of obsessive. It's a little uncomfortable like I feel I should help you or at least donate money to charities that help people like you.
  17. I wonder what level of heat kills this thing? So if you pick up take out and toss it in the oven at 400 for 5 to 10 min would that help?
  18. People still aren't taking this seriously. Heard sports talk radio roundly scoffing at the notion of acting like "Europeans" and playing the sports seasons/playoffs/March madness without fans until it becomes more clear what we're dealing with. The "expect people you know to die from this" is a chilling statement.
  19. I think the "no no no never never" would have been the better one to use there but either way the quickness on the timing was great. The new midday show is not good. Dan and Jake have worked together for years and hosted together whenever Bob was out but they just don't make a good pair. I used to listen to BaD pretty much every work day but since the change it's gotten less and less every day. Last 2 days was just WTDS. There's way too much Julie there talking more than needed. I'd honestly prefer Dan and Justin with little to no Julie over Dan and Jake.
  20. It's more plain every day the republicans in govt don't want people to be tested because they don't want true numbers of how badly this has infiltrated America to come out and spark panic that will tank the economy and cause trump to get massive amounts of blame for his administration fucking this up so badly. The US president, political party, and his administration are covering up a major health emergency for their own political gain. Shouldn't be surprised as this comes immediately after they covered up crimes and constitutional violations for the same reason.
