  1. Apparently so. Thought it was prudent, but seriously, what’s the calculus for any alt coin other than Bitcoin? Dogecoin to the moon…crazy irrational clown town we live in.
  2. Only crypto I bought was Eth. I bought 3 years ago and am exactly flat in 3 years. Who would have guessed Dogecoin would have been better. Crazy world.
  3. My 14 yo has entered full teenage stage. Total DA, does nothing we ask, back talking, yelling and general jackass. Every time we turn our back he’s sneaking Nintendo or iPhone when he’s supposed to be doing something else. Simple things take hours. He takes his phone into bathroom for 8 “shits” per day. We haven’t even gotten into the sneaking out and drinking phase, yet. Had to pray to the Lord today to ensure I didn’t beat his ass. Please tell me this will pass. Enjoy those early years as long as you can.
  4. I’ve not done the worksheet. Assuming no debts, for 10k a month, you need $4M, assuming 3% withdrawal and no SS. Is that vacations at Port A and a used Toyota+health insurance? $6M gets you $15k a month, is that NY vacation, Tesla and health insurance? $8M gets you $20k a month; is that one month international trip per quarter plus health insurance? Just curious what lifestyles people are striving toward.
  5. Approx what # are you budgeting for when you are >60 year old? Reason I ask is my kids have busted my budget, so no idea what’s a realistic number for when I’m older and empty nester. $10k? $15k? 20k? Adjust for inflation or just assume a somewhat lower 7% market return?
  6. I bought some TEM, Tempus AI, medical AI LLM. I don’t know if it’s a stonk as it has actual revenue. It’s only been public a couple of months, and very volatile, so I consider stonk. Cathy woods also invested, so very speculative.
  7. Good thing I bought some FB before earnings thinking it was a cheap tech stock. WTF. Need to stick to index funds.
  8. No I did not unfortunately but thanks for the reminder. Stonk meltdowns have had me preoccupied at the moment, but need to revisit some P2E NFTs. That and staking….got to do it just to learn.
  9. Thanks. Agree there are a ton of P2E projects coming online. But I need to start with one. You can play crypto raider on iPhone browser, correct? I joined the guild of guardians discord, missed a free drop by a few weeks. Gameplay looks pretty interesting. too bad startup costs are >$600 USD for most of these…makes me hesitate a bit considering how many projects there will be this year.
  10. So what’s best way to lookout for NFTs aside from browsing OpenSea? Any particular discords that are full of good ideas? I like the gaming NFT space a lot. The crypto raider approach looks pretty intriguing, combines gaming, esports, gambling all together. there is a guild known as YGG, Yield Gaming Guild, where they collaborate on yield generating NFT games. Their discord lists 10 or so 2022 target games: A Xie Infinity, League of Kingdoms, the sandbox, EmberSword, Illuvium, Guild of guardians, Star Atlas, Thetan Arena, Vulcan verse, Mir4, and Splinterlands. Many of these are pre-Beta but u can start speculating now on NFTs. Some will be busts for sure, but others could be real winners. Lots to dig through though. Would be nice to be one NFT each and see what wins.
  11. I had been using PayPal to buy but fees are high. Just started on Coinbase. anyone using the Coinbase wallet? Good enough? ideally would like to throw enough in to play with some gaming NFT buys. It’ll be interesting if the NFT space provides a pricing floor to ETH or other.
  12. BTC question, all the maintenance of the blockchain is done by farming servers, correct? So what happens when 100% of the BTC float is issued…how are the servers compensated for continuing maintenance of the blockchain?
  13. Thanks for inputs. I’m in similar situation at 45 and could prob retire now and live comfortably. one thing always in my mind though, I learn a lot daily in my work and via colleagues. I work in tech with some sharp people and they give me some of the best investment ideas and keep me current. I worry if I retire id become stupid and obsolete in a matter of years. How to stay sharp with a 40+ year retirement? also I have elementary age kids so figure I should work at least until they are in high school, just in case they need an extra helping hand. for me retirement really comes more to what new thing would I want to do with my day, rather than just walking away from Co. it’s more than a number, once u have the number that is, and I’m not sure I know yet what that new thing would be.
  14. Wrote some covered calls this week: AAPL: Jan 28 $195 @ $ 2.25 ABNB: Feb 18 $190 @ $ 3.80 AMAT: Feb 18 $180 @ $2.85 Pays for some Xmas gifts for sure. Now I need to learn to not look at them for a bit. I usually look for > 8% OOTM, 60-80 days to exp, > 1% return, and hopefully near all time highs.
  15. Anyone buying the dip yet on ETH? I wouldn’t mind picking up some, but how far sub $4k?
  16. Bought some ABNB this afternoon. Expect it to crash further now that last dumb money is it.
  17. I also have the silverware, inherited. We use it 1-2 times a year. It’s nice, but annoying to wash by hand. It’s one of those things I’d never buy but it’s kinda nice to have 12 hrs a year. I’ve never priced it out...but if the world goes to anarchy, I could trade a spoon for some bread or a beer. So I got that going for me.
  18. I write covered calls often. I typically shoot for a 1-2% return for the contract, 14-30 days out, and ~8-10% OOM. example I’m short FB 320 right now, 11 biz days to exp. if I sell at 320, fine with me for mid April. Ive also done well with QS, but had some called away. Thought about doing some QQQ covered calls as well today, but didn’t get to it. You don’t get rich quick this way, and it’s definitely irritating when they go against you. But in my opinion worth trying.
  19. More like a car daily. Being rich sucks.
  20. I dig this thread. I’ve been dabbling for a number of years and COVID has definitely accelerated the number of options trades I do. I’d say I’m much more of a gut feel and chartist than a true greek symbol quant. Primarily calls and covered calls, not as much on Put side. today I’m long calls NVDA, CRWD, PYPL, CRM, DD, WFC. All expire before end of March. I’m short covered NVDA, QS, and CRWD. one thing I’ve found annoying is unloading a call spread when close to expiration, especially when short call is OOTM. I feel like I’m not getting a good price for the whole distance of the spread. So lately my short call will expire one week before long call...makes it easier to sell. Another thing, purely driven by greed, is I buy the call and wait a bit to sell the covered call in the vertical. My hope is equity goes up 1-2% and then I write. Of course downside risk is a bit more. Trade idea I’m looking at: DKNG covered calls. I’m long stock, and looking one month out. $71 calls pay a great premium imho. Probably cause of the super bowl.
  21. So reading their FAQ you can’t transfer the coins and you don’t get a key. However it can be swapped for cash immediately in PayPal. They have an exchange fee which I don’t know what it is. But it seems awfully easy and convenient way to hold and quickly spend crypto if you want.
  22. I see PayPal is now offering crypto buys and holds. Anyone have experience using PayPal to buy crypto and hold? Pro or con?
