  1. Been to Stanley (excellent), will check out the others. Thanks Arnaud’s was good, not great, tonight. Atmosphere was spot on.
  2. Shit, dropped the ball and Achafalaya has been booked for Sat brunch for two weeks now. Any other recs? They do have a walk-up service at the bar but who knows how predictable that will be (flight leaves at 2:00 in Sat).
  3. I used to love this, but now all I get is strong cinnamon. I almost can't drink it anymore... almost.
  4. We arrive this Thursday. So far we’ve got Arnaud’s for dinner on Thurs night (I lobbied for Clancy’s but got vetoed), Patois for lunch Friday and R’evolution for dinner Friday. Not sure about Sat breakfast/brunch but suggestions are welcome.
  5. It works well in a julep. The ice waters it town so you need the higher proof (IMO). Straight: it’s good and I don’t feel bad paying $50 for it.
  6. I’m sitting on three. [ducks]
  7. Since the mint is thriving and I wanted to try this 1792 Full Proof I figured I should get some julep practice in before the Derby in May.
  8. We did a total gut and added a second story so... a lot. The nice thing about our old house is that with pier and beam you aren't as restricted on where you can put plumbing on the ground floor as you are with a slab. This was after they put a new subfloor down; before that you could see straight down to the dirt.
  9. Tel-Wink Restaurant & Grill is pretty good too. Around the corner from Dot.
  10. Ours was build in 1935. Wood was much more dense back then is seems. We had some issue with the foundation (pier and beam) and you'll have to eventually replace the pipes and wiring, but other than that it was fine. Not because the house was a problem, but we did a full remodel a couple of years ago and the exterior walls are about the only thing original at this point.
  11. Anyone have a good car service/drive they use for airport pickups/drop offs? I used to have a guy back in the day that was great. He'd be waiting at pick up with a sign, was pleasant, and his car was clean and well maintained. I'd like something similar to that for some international coworkers who are coming in for an event. Before someone tells me to pre-arrange an Uber I want someone with the licence to enter the airport and with a vehicle I know is adequate. I don't want my folks to have to hassle with searching for their ride in a new airport after getting off 10+ hour flights.
  12. So they rate bourbons like Surly rates super models?
  13. Anyone heard about this place? I mean... damn what an idea. https://punchdrink.com/articles/jbs-whiskey-house-rare-bourbon-whiskey-collection-nashville/
  14. How long did you need to decant a '95?
  15. Nothing vintage, but one of our favorites.
  16. 8 as a righty. Every other way feels odd.
  17. We tried Circus Circus steakhouse about 7 years ago. It had a nice steakhouse atmosphere, the food was good not great, but I didn't feel like I had gotten raped when we left. You need to go Birdbox on the way in because one look at the casino and it's clientele will make you lose your appetite.
  18. Avatar and Lost in Translation come to mind. I started watching Black Panther on the plane and got bored and went to sleep.
  19. I would use one but apparently need a more scenic backdrop for it to work properly.
  20. Hey, my girlfriend may not be pretty, but she's got a HUGE dick.
