I still have a long way to go in sampling all the great places NOLA has to offer, but the last time we were there we went to Restaurant R'evolution and it was spectacular. Food, service, atmosphere; all were great.
I understand your point of the increased visibility, and it's valid, but the nature of the deaths and the concentrated location have to give you pause.
If it were a nothing-burger, the FBI wouldn't be down there investigating. Or so I assume...
I follow some spirits auctions and I am already seeing a softening of pricing there. The relatively current releases of the BTAC bottles are running at about $400 - $500 which is about 25% lower than in previous years. Not saying this is reasonable yet, but some of the shine has definitely worn off.
Did this around Italy, and also did a Silversea in the Baltic. These are nothing like the Carnival Wal-Mart ships. They are much more expensive though unless you can find a special (and are then only about 3x a Carnival cruise).
I recall when checking in for our Baltic trip the dude next to me (later found out he and his family were taking a year off to travel around the world) was sporting a nice Lange Tourbillon; not your typical cruising crowd.
