  1. There is no way we jump Georgia even if Alabama wins out. Georgia will be labeled the “better 1-loss team” because they lost to the SEC champs vs our one loss to an OU team that doesn’t even make the Big 12 Title Game. Beating Alabama was huge but losing to a shitty OU team hurts us more in the eyes of the CFP committee.
  2. I’d love to shoot some of these off in the hallway outside of CDC’s office and see how he likes it when his workplace is full of smoke because he seems to think Sark and the team don’t mind.
  3. Did we already turn the clocks back? I have no outside clocks to verify other than my phone which changes automatically.
  4. I hate to ruin the party, but even if we win out and win the Big 12, there is no way we make the CFP if there are 4 unbeaten teams at the end of the season. If Georgia, Florida State, Washington and the Big Ten Champs are all undefeated, we’re screwed.
  5. Yes it’s true but of course Fisch denied it when all the sign stealing stuff came out. https://www.azdesertswarm.com/platform/amp/football/2023/10/26/23934060/arizona-wildcats-football-jedd-fisch-michigan-connor-stalions-sign-stealing-rams-jim-harbaugh-2023
  6. Of course they are. Connor Stalions helped Jedd Fisch put that roster together.
  7. He stole signs at Clemson. That’s why they won. And that’s why they suck now.
  8. It seems redundant that we already have a fund dedicated to this, but now we want to rename it and change how the comptroller controls it. The change adds a trust company (Texas Treasury Safekeeping Trust) to administer the fund. The trust company is able to “determine the amount available for distribution in accordance with a distribution policy that (1) preserves the purchasing power of the fund’s assets and (2) provides a stable and predictable stream of annual distributions.” It also allows the fund to include gifts and grants from outside sources instead of solely being from money appropriated by the legislature. I’m sure this will have an impact on how the comptroller and trust determine how these funds get distributed to “preserve its purchasing power.”
  9. Saw this on Twitter. Is this Sydir Mitchell? Dude looks almost as big as Sweat. I took a screenshot in case you missed it.
  10. I read the text of the bill that changed it from the National Research University Fund to the Texas University Fund and one thing stuck out to me. Changing from NRUF to TUF drops the requirement for academic institutions to be “a member of the Association of Research Libraries or has a Phi Beta Kappa chapter.” I know there are requirements from the THECB to be a designated member of the TUF. An institution has to spend $20M in federal and private research funds over the past 3 fiscal years and award 45 research doctoral degrees over the past 3 fiscal years. My concern is that dropping the ARL or PBK requirements means that any institution can be eligible for these funds if they pump private money into it. For example, if the right leaning University of Austin somehow starts a doctoral program approved by the THECB and is able to give 45 doctoral degrees annually plus get $20M of funding for research from private sources annually for 3 years, this makes them eligible for TUF funding in perpetuity. The bill changing from NRUF to TUF also drops the requirement that “faculty of the institution needs to be of high quality” as well. https://capitol.texas.gov/tlodocs/88R/billtext/html/HB01595I.htm
  11. JFC if we’re gonna do this, might as well have Maalik in there getting some reps in the Redzone
  12. Great way to bounce back from that penalty party on the O-Line
  13. I just got the chills seeing that stupid ref.
  14. Cook and Murphy have been working together on the 2nd team. I’d like to see them get a TD in a game.
  15. Maalik Money!!!!!!
  16. I’m surprised Herbie is like, “I wish this could all go away because this is a great team.” Like WTF. He’s such an Ohio State homer and he’s trying to sweep it under the rug. Very strange.
  17. Michigan’s Connor Stalions resigns, says neither Harbaugh nor team ‘were aware of improper conduct’ By Nicole Auerbach, Austin Meek, Katie Strang and Bruce Feldman University of Michigan staffer Connor Stalions has resigned, a school spokesperson said Friday. He had refused to cooperate with any internal or external investigations or discussions, a school source told The Athletic. Stalions, who was initially suspended with pay by Michigan on Oct. 20, is at the center of the NCAA’s investigation into an alleged scouting and sign-stealing scheme. Stalions bought tickets to games in at least seven Big Ten stadiums before those teams played the Wolverines over the past three seasons, including the 2023 season, sources told The Athletic earlier this month. Purchasing the tickets is not a violation of NCAA rules, but using them to scout and record other teams would violate the rules prohibiting in-person, on-campus scouting and the audio or video recording of signals. Stalions’ attorney, Brad Beckworth of Nix Patterson, told The Athletic on Friday that earlier reports of Stalions being fired were false, and that “Connor is thankful the University corrected that false narrative tonight.” “As he informed the school earlier today, Connor chose to resign because recent stories regarding his time with the University of Michigan have created a distraction for the team,” Beckworth said. “He hopes his resignation will help the team and coaching staff focus on tomorrow’s game and the remainder of the season. Connor also wants to make it clear that, to his knowledge, neither Coach Harbaugh, nor any other coach or staff member, told anyone to break any rules or were aware of improper conduct regarding the recent allegations of advanced scouting.” In his own statement provided to The Athletic, Stalions said, “I love the University of Michigan and its football program.” “And I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I’ve had to work with the incredible student athletes, coach Harbaugh and the other coaches that have been a part of the Michigan football family during my tenure,” Stalions said. “I do not want to be a distraction from what I hope to be a championship run for the team, and I will continue to cheer them on.” Friday’s news comes days after screenshots of a person who looks similar to Stalions was seen on the Central Michigan sideline during the team’s game against Michigan Statebegan circulating online Monday night. The Athletic obtained more photos of the person on the sideline Tuesday, and CMU announced it was investigating whether Stalions was indeed on its sideline in CMU apparel for the Sept. 1 game against the Spartans. If the man on the CMU sidelines is indeed Stalions, this would be the first known example of him attending the game of a Michigan opponent in person weeks before the opponent played the Wolverines. “We obviously are aware of a picture floating around with the sign-stealer guy,” CMU coach Jim McElwain said Tuesday night after CMU’s game against Northern Illinois. “Our people are doing everything they can to get to the bottom of it. We’re totally unaware of it. I certainly don’t condone it in any way, shape or form. I do know his name was on none of the passes that were let out. We keep tracing it back and tracing it back and try to figure it out. It’s in good hands with our people. Again, there’s no place in football for that.” Frustration within the Big Ten conference has been mounting in the days and weeks since the initial NCAA investigation into Michigan broke. The league’s coaches and athletic directors have both met with Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti this week to vent and urge Petitti to take action against the Wolverines amid evidence of the scouting and sign-stealing scheme. Petitti does have the ability to issue punishment under the Big Ten’s sportsmanship policy, but he has told administrators and coaches previously he wants to let the investigative process play out, which includes giving Michigan a chance to respond to the NCAA’s findings. Officials at the other 13 Big Ten schools believe Petitti has enough information — tickets purchased by Stalions to games in Big Ten opponents’ stadiums and in-stadium surveillance footage showing people in those seats filming the sidelines — to act now. “What’s crazy is they weren’t allegations. It happened. There’s video evidence,” Purduecoach Ryan Walters said Thursday on his radio show. “There’s ticket purchases and sales that you can track back. We know for a fact that they were at a number of our games, so we’ve had to teach our guys a new language in terms of some signals.” The Boilermakers face the Wolverines on Saturday night. https://theathletic.com/5029590/2023/11/03/michigan-fires-connor-stalions/
  18. He read one too many Billy Mumphrey stories.
  19. Stalions will jump on the grenade for Michigan
  20. These Michigan fans are something else.
  21. Saw this screengrab online about Alex Yood.
  22. If he already had access to the sidelines as a volunteer, why didn’t he just remain a volunteer to create some separation between himself and Michigan? If all this shit happened and he was an unpaid volunteer it would be a different story for the NCAA.
  23. This is one of the juiciest, most entertaining and scandalous stories to hit college football in a long time. It has cheating, espionage, military, ticket receipts, videos footage, security breaches, etc. And its mostly been crickets outside of those who are hardcore about college football. No CR, but I think Fox prefers to gloss over it because they have the rights to the Big Ten games. Do advertisers pull out because it’s a league of cheaters? Should Fox lean in and open up the vault of Big Ten games to drive eyeballs to their streaming sites? I’m sure tons of people would love to go back and stream lots of old Big Ten games looking for crazy shit on the sidelines. I’m sure everyone is hesitant to make a big move because new stuff keeps coming out almost daily.
  24. Lincoln Riley’s belly tat would go great with that haircut.
  25. Western Michigan played Michigan State in 2022 in East Lansing on a Friday. I would not be surprised if “that sign stealing guy” was on the WMU sideline for that game as well. We need all the detectives to review that game film and report back to us. If we found something, I would love to hear “as reported on surlyhorns.com” all over the internet and watch Michigan fans melt down on us.
