Thought I would post again since some of you have been able to take in some Water Polo during the Olympics.
As I mentioned earlier, this sport has been taking off in Texas, and will grow even more in the next year.
This was a crazy summer for a new Water Polo Club. We put our club together last August in Boerne since Comal had few restrictions, and we train at an outdoor pool. Club quickly grew from about 20 kids to 65 in May. Most of the kids drive in from San Antonio.
I was able to take 3 teams to National Junior Olympics last week in Dallas. An 18U Boys team, a 16U Boys team, and a 16U girls team. There were close to 200 teams spread out across North Dallas. I was driving from Southlake, to Lewisville, to Garland every day. It was a beat down, but really fun. My kids got to play against teams from Oregon, Washington, Northern Illinois, Hawaii, St. Louis, Connecticut, and Florida.
Some of the more established clubs from Texas finished on top of the standings (Thunder from Dallas and Viper Pigeons from Houston stood out).
Texas will be turning out some of the best Water Polo players in the country soon. It's going to happen.
