I think the reaction to the three bowls can be summed up as follows.
1) Cotton Bowl: MANZIEL/ha ha Stoops choked again/wow, the Aggies actually won the Cotton Bowl for a change
2) WVU Bowl: N/A
3) Kansas State Bowl: N/A

We're 6-4 against P5. Our 7th win, however, was a half-assed snoozer victory over a team that (on the road) beat vaunted Northwestern Wildcats, champions of the Mighty Big 10 West.
when comparing your resume to that of an Aggie, honesty is not a virtue that will be reciprocated

I realized this morning that in the fable of the Three Little Pigs, the first two pigs are Aggies and the third is a Longhorn. The wolf is, I don't know, Alabama or Oklahoma or something.

But some part of me also wanted Charlie (and yes, Shaka) to succeed because having coaches of color might broaden the image of the university. What with all the "Klan" talk going on around that time, I guess I was hoping we could start two of our headline sports down the road toward a more socially acceptable future. Out with the old Mack and Rick, in with the new. Brighter days ahead and all that.
first, I must have missed "all the 'Klan' talk", or maybe my friends aren't as interesting as yours
second, this kind of thinking isn't the only way to get 21 painfully inept football losses in three seasons, but it's among the surest ones

The Last Jedi:
* it completely sucked
* the story was tertiary to Diversity! and fan service
* people got fucking up in arms defending/attacking it on the Internet
If that doesn't sum up the 21st century thus far, nothing does

Vic stay in your oversized load lane. Getting to a conference championship is a successful season, win or lose.
yeah that 70-31 loss to the third place finisher in the Leaders division was a real triumph, I hope you guys hung a banner commemorating it

"the-days-when-such-a-colossus-ruled-the-game-are-over"
man someone should tell Alabama the days when such colossuses ruled the game are over so they'll stop winning the national championship every year

I know I fucked his college girlfriend. Wasn't all that impressive.
I didn't fuck her, I was just her really good guy friend that she talked to about all the assholes she dated that broke her heart
I think she secretly really liked me and wanted to fall in love with me but just couldn't because of reasons. She always said I was so sweet and sensitive, not like other guys.
I'm still in love with her

50-7 was what did it for me. The 41-7 loss to BYU concerned me but I somehow managed to lie to myself through the Texas Bowl AND the Notre Dame debacle, and I was so caught up in the officiating fiasco against OSU in 2015 that Charlie's ineptitude in that game didn't stand out the way it should have.
Basically I liked the hired because I'm pretty stupid and don't know much about football, and even after some pretty obvious tells I still held out foolish hope that Strong would turn things around... until TCU got up 30-0 on us in one quarter. I'm not going to start Googling but I'm pretty sure there's never been a head coach you'd want as your own that got down 30-0 in the first quarter of a game.
I didn't think you could or should fire a coach after 2 years at that point, but I changed my mind on that score too after we got shut out by Iowa State.
why am I talking about this
why
I really think I was blind to some of Charlie's shortcomings because I was so fucking amazed he taught Mykkele Thompson how to tackle

Did any of them lose to Texas? No? Mission accomplished.
Bingo. A&M could go 1-10 in the SEC every year and as long as none of the ten losses were to Texas, they'd be able to avoid the objective proof of their inferiority. Thus, they're better off.
You cannot put a price on what it's worth to the Aggies to not have to live with losing to us. In their heart of hearts, they'd rather lose in the SEC than win in the BIg 12 because being in the SEC (and having the SEC overlords preventing a UT-A&M bowl matchup) eliminates any chance of them losing to us.
That's the kind of rivalry they've always wanted with us. If they couldn't get to beating us every year, the next best thing would be never losing to us again. Mission accomplished.

I wouldn't read too much into the final score of Ohio State-Michigan. It was 41-19 after three quarters and the defenses both went soft in the fourth and there was a lot of empty-calorie scoring.
That isn't to defend Ohio State's terrible defense. They're terrible. But they're not as terrible as "they gave up 39 points to MIchigan" makes them sound.

Exactly how good is their roster? Brown captained an immediate turnaround at Texas but with NFL talent all over the place. He also started 2-20 his first time around at North Carolina.
it's at the exact midpoint of those two things

I am cynical and think that they like this drama bullshit.
I think it sucks and brings down the sport.
people will tune out if they start thinking the game is rigged
if you have two SEC teams in the playoff and another two or three in NY6 bowls... well, that type of shit never mattered to fans of the Big Ten/Pac Ten/SWC/Big 8 back when they had their own NYD bowls to shoot for. Now that we're artificially trying to cram fifteen pounds of qualified teams into a ten pound sack, people are going to get pissed off if they start thinking the tie goes to the SEC runner every time. And when they're pissed and realize they can't do anything about it, they just.... stop.... caring.

Where are you hearing this OU love. All I heard yesterday was how bad their defense was and that Ohio State deserves to go if they both win.
I thought no way they would leapfrog OU, but I'm pretty sure now that they will.
But it don't make a shit cuz we're gonna win.
Absolutely disagree, what is the one tangible black mark* against OU this year? their one loss, to us. Now they get a chance to erase that in a rematch-- if OU beats us, OU proponents can claim the result in the Cotton Bowl was just a fluke and that the B12CG is the real measure of that team. This is exactly why the Big 12 has its stupid conference title game.
What can Ohio State really accomplish by blowing out Northwestern? That just basically confirms what we already think about both teams. Whereas OU has a chance to really change their playoff resume.
* meaning, their defense is comically inept but they still won all those other games where they gave up a shit ton of points

I don't understand

I don’t give Northwestern much of a shot. The teams that give Ohio State trouble are wide open spread offenses and Northwestern might occasionally be spread out but they are VERY conservative with their routes and schemes. One of the least explosive offenses in the country.
I’d love to be wrong on this though
If Ohio State is motivated and they're playing a team that doesn't have the athletes or offensive scheme to make their semi-retarded defense pay for its semi-retarded schemes, well, they beat you 62-39.
Given OSU is at least nominally playing for a playoff spot, OSU's level of motivation probably doesn't bode well for Northwestern, but who knows? it's entirely possible OSU's 19 future NFL draft picks will look at Northwestern and not take them seriously
It would be a great story though if NU were to pull off that upset.
