  1. counterpoint, have you ever been to Jacksonville?
  2. That's probably the best example. Baylor that year had a claim too. Penn State in 2016 won the Big Ten and beat Ohio State head-to-head. Maybe UCF in 2017 though I'm not really that sympathetic to G5 teams. I don't think it's a big deal that Ohio State's 2-loss 2017 team or one-loss 2018 team didn't make it, but both of those teams just underlined to me that we needed at least six and probably eight teams participating.
  3. Don't be facile. The implication is that Urban calling Jimmy Johnson of all people is portentous. It's not, if it even happened.
  4. oh fucking bullshit Urban JUST NOW started kicking the tires on an NFL career? And he JUST NOW decided "you know, a guy who hasn't coached in twenty years is just the person to ask about it"...? He has no one else he can ask, and he's only just now (a year into his SECOND retirement from coaching) calling up people to ask about the NFL? fucking retarded bullshit
  5. we're more likely to hire Chip Kelly than Brian Kelly, for Christ's sake and again, firing Herman to hire Sarkisian is pointless. we already have a coach who can go 8-5 and win Alamo Bowls.
  6. the only legit gripe anyone has-- and I would still sneer at A&M if this were the case, because it's fucking A&M, but it's not the case anyway-- was if five legit programs did everything they were supposed to do and that included big-time wins and one had to be left out. A&M lost to Alabama by 28 points. Their best win was a narrow home win over an unimpressive Florida team that lost to a terrible LSU team. You can make a case that A&M deserved a playoff bid, but it's impossible to make a case that their omission was noteworthy, let alone some kind of travesty. This is what happens to teams that don't take care of business, every year, when it comes to picking a playoff field. Better programs with better resumes than A&M this year have been left out.
  7. it's a real shame things didn't shake out so Indiana could go to the Rose Bowl this year
  8. No, no. See if they lose, it will be because their players were "TOO HEARTBROKE OVER GETTIN' SCREWED BY THE PLAYOFF COMMITTEE TO CARE ABOUT SOME DUMB EXABITCHIN GAME". They's s'posed to be SEC now, they'll have that standard SEC bowl loss excuse down pat.
  9. with all the opt outs etc, maybe they'll beat US by 11
  10. this is the best possible outcome for A&M, since their fans are universally about "woulda, coulda, shoulda" if Notre Dame, Clemson, or Ohio State win the whole thing, they can say "WE WOULDA SMOKED THEM FAGGETS! EVERONE KNOWS IT, SEC SEC SEC" if Alabama wins, it will be "THEY DIDN'T WANT NO PART OF A REMATCH, IT'S IMPOSSIBLE TO BEAT A GRATE TEAM TWICE IN ONE YEAR"
  11. there's no reason to fire Herman in order to hire Steve Sarkisian Mack Brown would be a better candidate
  12. I'm not a fan but he had some good songs-- this is just a great fucking rock and roll song
  13. Hardy played in the mid-90s. They also made a Rose Bowl after the 2007 season when Ohio State got kicked upstairs to the LSU Invitational in New Orleans.
  14. what was it J. Frank Dobie said about the Tower when it was built, "the last erection of an impotent administration"...?
  15. Well, if they lay down for it, there's not much you can do, so I agree with that. The intent is usually pretty clear. Paterno letting his backup QB throw deep and claiming it was an audible against Rutgers in 1995 was transparent as fuck. Stoops going for style points in 2008 was obvious. Hell, Mack did it to Houston one year. I swear the year we beat them 48-0, we had the ball inside their ten and were throwing into the end zone with less than 30 seconds to go. I didn't think OU ran it up against A&M in 2003.
  16. and yes, it was definitely a dickhead move for Ohio State to score at least its last touchdown in 2014, but that's Urban Meyer for you. Gives no fucks. I want him here; we need that.
  17. scoring an unnecessary touchdown late against a beaten opponent is a dickhead move.
  18. Of all the ways I thought that game might go, "Trey Sermon runs for a school record 300+ yards and Ohio State grinds out a 22-10 win" was not in the top 20 good thing one of their mercenary transfers had a good game since Justin Fields looks like Marty McFly trying to play guitar as he's being erased in Back To The Future
  19. Remember, this is a down year for OU so they have two losses and they'll still win the conference and go to the NY6 Cotton Bowl in other words their down years are better than our peak nowadays (2018)
  20. he's been here three years and we're still talking about the problems he has to overcome at some point Del Conte is responsible for the existence of even the problems he inherited and hasn't fixed-- I'm not saying we're there yet necessarily, but the fact that we still have a bloated athletic department foots with my impression of Del Conte as being a lot more talk than action
  21. Also feel like mentally A&M knows they're playing with house money. They don't really have anything at stake, they'll play loose. If they were already fourth in the rankings, if they were playing to protect something as opposed to just hoping it will work out, they might feel the pressure. They should win easily, around 30-17, not as close as the score looks.
  22. and Ricky Bell went on to form New Jack R&B supergroup Bell Biv Devoe
