  1. Tony Ortega is a former Village Voice editor who’s been writing about Scientology for a while. In 2017, he got his hands on the LAPD reports and published them on his own site. Shortly after, LAPD confirmed that they were looking into it. https://tonyortega.org/2017/03/03/lapd-probing-scientology-and-danny-masterston-for-multiple-rapes-cover-up/
  2. Thanks for posting that. I hadn’t seen that before. That video was the direct inspiration for Elbow’s Gentle Storm video which I was familiar with.
  3. This one is glued. You can see the seam in the pic below. I believe some of the early JA-90s were made with mahogany necks. This one looks like maple which is more common on these. And yeah, this is one of the few Fender’s being made in Indonesia. At the Cort factory I think. The pickup selector switch feels kinda cheap, but otherwise the guitar feels fairly well made.
  4. More pron, just cuz. And it has a volute, which further adds to the unique feel of this “Tele”.
  5. I haven’t recorded anything with it. I got it a couple days ago so I just now got around to cleaning it up and restringing it. I’m used to the shorter scale length because I’ve played an SG Jr and an Epi Riviera for years. But both of those guitars feel like they have longer necks because the neck meets the body at around the 20th fret. On this Tele, the neck meets the body at around the 16th fret. That combined with the shorter scale makes it feel kinda condensed overall compared to my other guitars, including my regular Tele. My left hand just feels like it’s closer to my body when I play this guitar. I’ve never been a Les Paul guy, but I’m guessing it’s a similar feel? Here’s a YouTube clip with some nice clean tones.
  6. It’s Tuesday, so here’s a Tele for ya. Fender JA-90 Jim Adkins model. It has a semi-hollow ash body with Seymour Duncan P-90s. But it has a set neck with 24.75” scale length and stop tailpiece like a Gibson.
  7. Did someone say Kay? Here’s an early 60’s Truetone Jazz King, which is a Kay Speed Demon with a different label. Picked it up a couple weeks ago. Action is kinda high, but not as bad as some I’ve seen. Needs some work on the neck and bridge to get it playing well, but probably does slide well. Gonna try that. I think I have a slide around here somewhere. (Excuse the mess. I had to throw a buncha gear in the back room cuz I had a guy doing some work in the house.)
  8. Maybe post this in the amp thread? It’s called These Go To 11 in the Music forum. Some of the guys there might be interested.
  9. MSNBC producers just told Ali Velshi off-camera that they’d been told that gas lines had been cut and they needed to leave cuz it could blow.
  10. Link?
  11. Here’s a link live. Not sure how long it’ll be up.
  12. Nice. Just in time for F-Hole Friday!
  13. I’ll be surprised if we see a manifesto in this case. It didn’t seem thought out or carefully planned. The shooter said something about how he was gonna be the Westgate 2020 Shooter, and mumbled some generic statement about getting back at society. I only saw about a 30-second video clip, but it really felt like he was just doing it for attention and social media clout, which is why I didn’t post the link to the video Twitter.
  14. Looks like two or three injured. Shooter arrested. Media staging will be in the Cabelas parking lot. The irony.
  15. The shooter streamed it on Snapchat. Just watched part of the video on Twitter. Fuckin nuts.
  16. One of the comments refers to Kelvontay as “Moochie” so I looked it up and found this article. https://www.panolawatchman.com/sports/football-preview-dixon-ready-for-big-senior-season/article_56a0f8b4-c3ac-11e9-941a-93700accefe9.html “When I was little I used to go nibble food off of other people’s plates,” he said. “That’s what they started calling me and it stuck.”
  17. A Gretsch with P-90s and a Bigsby for under four bills? Yeesh. That’s tempting. Cool color too.
  18. That’s correct. 501 W. 26th St. Behind the hole in the wall.
  19. I was living in west campus when it happened, but couldn’t remember when so I looked it up. It was December 14, 1996. A week after the Big 12 championship win over Nebraska. https://www.austinchronicle.com/news/1997-01-24/527261/
  20. My dad had a class with her at North Texas State University around 1968-69. As a kid I would flip through my dad’s old college yearbooks and marvel at the black and white pics of her in there. Total smoke show.
  21. I was briefly reunited with my ‘94 Riviera today. It’s on semi-permanent loan to a good friend of mine. F-hole Friday
  22. Let it be known...
  23. Daniels was one of Duncanville’s big weapons on offense this past season. Here’s his junior clips. Lots of footage of JQJ. http://www.hudl.com/v/2Cf2xc
