  1. If a cop is working 16 hour days for a month straight, there's a very good chance it's because the cop is doing it voluntarily, working additional hours off-duty to make more money. That likely is a perk, not a requirement. The idea that Guyger should be allowed to work again as a cop is laughable, regardless of the outcome of her trial.
  2. This actually happened to me while I was at UT. True story... I was living in an apartment near campus with three of my friends, and we were not the cleanest dudes. Three chicks who were friends of ours and lived nearby came over one day, and one of them commented on the plethora of dirty dishes in our kitchen. The next night the guys and I went out to a bar. When we got back home at 2 am, the first thing we noticed was that all of our dishes were clean and the kitchen was spotless. One of us remembered the comments from the day before, so we called the girls. They admitted that they had taken some acid that night, came into our apartment through an unlocked window and cleaned our kitchen while they were tripping. We didn't have them arrested.
  3. Generally speaking, most LP humbuckers are gonna be louder than Fender single coil pickups. I would start by looking at the height that your pickups are set at, which will affect your pickups' volume. In other words, how far away are your pickups from your strings? If the humbuckers on your Epiphone are set low or the pickups on your Fender are set high, that could explain the difference in volume that you're hearing.
  4. Four year old cigarettes? How about 35 year old cigarettes? They're still sealed. Should be good, right? My GF was born and raised in New Orleans. She went back to attend her nephew's graduation from LSU this weekend. Her mom found these while going through some old stuff. These were given out for free at the 1984 World's Fair.
  5. Pics are in...
  6. I just called the guy. He said that he doesn't want to sell it just yet. But he said he would send me some pics of the guitar later and that I can post them on here. He said that if he does decide to sell it, he will let me know. So all hope is not lost. We might just have to be patient. I had the wrong year. I thought he had told me it was a 70s LP, but just now he said it's a 1980 Heritage LP, which he said was Gibson's first reissue of a '59 flame top. I'll post pics as soon as he sends em.
  7. It's a newer model 50 watt Plexi head I found on Austin CL. AUTF picked it up from me while he was in town a few weeks ago and flew back to SF with the Marshall in the overheard bin. Pics are on page 13 of the amp thread, I believe.
  8. The guy who I bought AUTF's Marshall from a few weeks ago was a roadie back in the 80s for a well-known American rock band. During that time, he met and became friends with a bunch of other bands and musicians. He told me that he went to a guitar shop back then with Joe Walsh, who was looking to sell one of his 1970s Les Pauls. The shop lowballed Joe, who then offered the LP to the roadie for the same price. The guy bought it and still has it, but he's not playing much anymore and has been selling off a lot of his gear. I have no idea how much he would want for it, but I think he would sell it. He said he's thought about calling up Joe to see if he wants to buy back his Les Paul, but said it's been years since he talked to him and figured Joe has all the Les Pauls he needs. Provenance might be an issue since it was a cash and a handshake deal made before vintage guitars were a thing. But if anyone is interested, I can ask the guy for a price and some pics.
  9. Haha, the rest of the story isn't much better. FedEx ended up cutting him a check for the LP. And I believe they gave him more than he originally paid for the guitar. But instead of going and buying another Les Paul, IIRC for some reason he went and bought a cherry red Guild acoustic. That was a nice guitar too, but not quite the same as an LP. This particular model goldtop ended up being kinda rare. Instead of having the traditional mahogany sides and back, it was gold all over like the one in this link. https://www.creamcitymusic.com/rare-1992-gibson-les-paul-classic-all-gold-electric-guitar/
  10. Any of y'all ever play any of the Robin guitars? I've always thought the Robin Ranger was kinda cool. Fender pretty much ripped off Robin's design when they came out with the Squier 51. But then again, Robin was copying Fender with a lot of their guitars too.
  11. I grew up a couple hours north of Houston. I never made it to Rockin Robin, but one of my guitars ended up there. When I was about 16, a friend gave me a hand-me-down black sparkle Silvertone Jupiter like this one... I was playing bass in a band, and didn't really play the Silvertone. Our guitarist drove down to RR with some cash and ended up falling in love with a LP goldtop, one of the early Classic 1960's models. He came back empty-handed cuz he was about 150 bucks short. He drove back down the next week with the cash and the Silvertone to trade-in and came back home with the goldtop. A couple years later, a little piece of binding came off the goldtop so my buddy shipped it to Gibson for repair. While in transit back to East Texas, the goldtop got crushed on a FedEx conveyor belt.
  12. I believe the correct term is "enabling".
  13. Leanderman = Rerun?
  14. Please keep posting. So I can keep negging.
  15. Yup. People on Twitter calling it Fyre Fest 2.0 haha. GF and I bought $100 tickets months ago. Didn't even know about the Emos show until a half hour after they went on sale. Too late by that point. Jmblya made the announcement about the Emos show right as they put them on sale. If you missed the announcement, you missed out.
  16. The $25 tickets sold out online in less than 10 minutes. They're selling for $150 and up on the second hand market. And headliner Travis Scott is not performing at the Emos show.
  17. This is what I was thinking. I would expect Guyger to do this. But I would hope a Ranger wouldn't. To me, it seems improper at best.
  18. Thanks for the response, TH. I'm not arguing with anything you wrote. I understand what you're saying about evidentiary standard. To me, it just seems extraneous and irrelevant to the charge and to establishing that standard. But I'm not a lawyer, so that's why I asked.
  19. I hope my question didn't come across as obtuse, but I am curious to hear from the attorneys posting in this thread about this. The affidavit states that the door was slightly ajar prior to Guyger's arrival. The only thing I can think of is that this "fact" was based on the investigators' interview with Guyger prior to her being charged. And of course she's gonna say that. It stuck out to me when reading the affidavit. To me, it almost seems as if the purpose of including this information was to minimize her liability or explain her intent. I would expect her defense to emphasize this "fact" during trial, but didn't expect to see this in the arrest affidavit. Is it normal to have this type of information in an arrest affidavit?
  20. In the "facts of the case" section of this affidavit, it states that the door was slightly ajar prior to Guyger's arrival. How would this have been determined?
  21. The linked article also includes this, which I believe has been mentioned in this thread before but is worth mentioning again as it will likely be part of the trial... "Lee Merritt, one of the attorneys for Jean's family, has said that two independent witnesses cast doubt on Guyger's narrative and told him they heard knocking on the door in the hallway before the shooting."
  22. I believe I bought a replacement capacitor at Johnstone Supply on Todd Lane. Some of the other places I called would only sell to licensed HVAC guys. They were helpful but I didn't ask them to test anything so not sure about that part.
  23. This is exactly what my 9-year-old said when I broke the news to him tonight. Star Wars is his jam. The kid was genuinely sad.
