  1. Especially as long as you don’t run that same blitz multiple times a game.
  2. Not necessarily. It frees up a lot of zone coverages with the ability to disguise pressure. It allows the defense to get pressure with 4 (or even 3) because you never know where the pressure is coming from or who’s dropping into coverage.
  3. We need more pass rushing OLB/DE types. Collins can play inside if he needs to. He has tons of room on his frame for growth. We definitely have more beef than we’ll need end not enough speed on the edges. Collins is pretty athletic, but I don’t know if he’s built to handle the OLB duties. Of course, there’s always the possibility that K is flexible enough to maximize the talent he has. I’d assume Sark vetted that. You always want to coach to your talent. Right now, we have lots of talent up front and very little at LB.
  4. I think the thinking is that we will have only two or three true DL and 3-4 LB on the field most of the time. DEs in a 4-3 are essentially replaced by OLB in modern defenses. Coach K has been known to run 2-4-5 packages, so there’s a need for OLB and ILB coaches. Just look at the OLB coach as a DE coach.
  5. The issue is that the mother fucker (Ewers) had no protection and was getting the shit beaten out of him all night. You can’t carry a team when you’re flat on your back. He has the most incredible arm since Matt Stafford. He has talent that can’t really be coached. Put him behind a decent line and give him a couple of years working on technique and you’ll have a finished product you couldn’t get with most prospects. He played the best defense in the state tonight and his OL couldn’t hold up. Couldn’t run and couldn’t pass block. Tom Brady couldn’t have done much better in those circumstances.
  6. Were fajitas to blame for your defiling yourself at Pancho’s as a child?
  7. I suspect Saban might do a better job of replacing the attrition than his gravel-mouthed swamp-dwelling purple friend to the west.
  8. I think Gideon could handle nickel and OLB
  9. I can’t wait until the coaching hires are made and I can go back to the other board.
  10. for 2 lose weight. lots of it. my son in law had the stomach staple, lost a ton of weight and went off his meds. I did the same thing without the stomach staple thanks covid lockdown and lost a ton of weight and am off my meds. Diabetes talk not going away.
  11. Pretty sure Hand was at Penn State with Franklin, not O’Brien.
  12. So Sark was hanging out with the THSCA guys today, which is awesome, but he said priority one for him was to fill out his staff. Feels like he’s got something worked out with a DC if he’s got time to hang out with the coaches so soon. Otherwise I’d expect to have heard about interviews today. And if he’s got something worked out, it seems like it must be with someone who’s got contractual reasons for postponing an announcement. If that’s the case, it has to either be either Will or an NFL coach, right? If he were retaining Ash, wouldn’t that have come out today? Or has that meeting not happened yet?
  13. I doubt we will have two DL coaches, especially if we’re running three down. More likely to have two linebacker coaches (inside and outside).
  14. Ok, I need a reminder on how to block certain posters.
  15. I bet he’s already thinking. Sark grooving in 2021 would be case closed for a kid who grew up rooting for Texas.
  16. GAs spend a shitload of time together breaking down film and doing grunt work. Depending on how demanding the coordinator is, they’ll spend 12-16 hours a day together. GA can be a stressful-ass job, so it would make sense if they formed a bond in the fix hole.
  17. Blake was trained by Akina, who coached all DBs and cross-trained them. Obviously Blake never had any business at CB, but you don’t have to have played it to coach it. Gideon has always had a reputation as being very bright. Will and Akina loved him. I’m not thrilled with the idea that he could be coaching corners, but it doesn’t leave me wringing my hands, either. I’m optimistic he might be a good developer. Preferably, we get a bonafide CB coach, but Blake may be the coach while Joseph is the recruiter. We’ll see.
  18. Except ND has a history of championships and winning.
  19. Because he couldn’t put teams away, even with the best talent in America at his disposal.
  20. Yeah, but Bama had some one-possession shoot-outs. That Ole Miss game was wild. I’m not a Golding fan.
