  1. AOC raises $2 million to date for citizens in a state that not only can't vote for her, but who's citizens are among the worst at trashing her. And this piece of shit flees the state he's a senator in while it's suffering from a disaster of his parties' making. Seriously. Execution.
  2. Texas would be awesome if it wasn't filled with Texans. So many of these idiots want to be their own country? They take more Federal disaster assistance than anyone. They can't even be a functioning state. If the rest of the states were as cruel as Texans they'd allow Texas to secede then immediately set up an embargo and blockade. Then as the shit really hits the fan start negotiating terms for readmittance that include having to be good neighbors and a part of the team.
  3. They know their fans and play directly to them knowing it's what they want to hear. They know it's false but will tell their fanboys whatever they need.
  4. I don't think rolling blackouts during an extreme weather event that doesn't happen even every decade is an unreasonable issue. What isn't forgivable is 1) not notifying the public this will happen and energy needs to be conserved in advance, 2) not doing everything to cut power to unused commercial space and frivolous usage like decorative lighting for skylines and such, and 3) not actually rotating the blackouts where some people get no power interruption and others get it shut off for days. Having to make sacrifices in an extreme event isn't unreasonable, but not having any plan in place for efficient and equitable conservation and distribution of the resources in an extreme event is criminal. The deregulation has a lot of advantages for consumers as well as producers but it shouldn't be completely void of regulation. There needs to be basic safety net protocols and efficient plans for events like this when they do happen. What happened here is akin to someone losing their job and deciding that's the time to take that $8k trip to Vegas to blow their resources. The waste and lack of planning to manage and distribute efficiently was criminal. Also need to have discussions about using funds to outfit critical and emergency services like hospitals, fire stations, etc with backup generator capability for keeping their most essential power needs met in the event their area is cut off during a rolling blackout.
  5. Can these sudden sudden power cut off then restore cycles be damaging to the central heat units?
  6. What's the reasoning for not making allowances for still within date product during a disaster declaration? Seems that should be pretty straight forward as long as they aren't giving out spoiled food.
  7. So the wife's family in Decatur told us their Walmart had to get rid of all the refrigerated product because the power outage would cause spoilage. So what did they do? They trashed it all. Perfectly good food they could have put out in the front or side of the store and let it out on social media for people who are hungry right now to come and pick up. Nope. So insanely callous
  8. Tell them if they survive to vote against you and your support of the party that strips even the most essential safety regulation from public utilities.
  9. Last night sucked other than falling asleep on the recliner in front of a fire listening to true crime stories. Walking up 3 hours later to freezing and no fire sucked. Might just idle the vehicle for 5-6 hours tonight to actually get some sleep. At least there isn't a gas shortage. It's my only way to get warm
  10. It wouldn't have to raise prices too much. Just have the capability to activate the winter production that gets intentionally shut down within 5-7 days. Don't shut it all down 100 percent keep it at least at emergency readiness. There's zero indication they even tried to do anything to begin excess production that was turned off for the winter with over a week's notice of this thing.
  11. Is there anything that 21st century Republicans touch that isn't only a pure shit money grab for the rich at the expense of everyone else?
  12. Admittedly I have no idea how they choose it but with the way things are it just wouldn't surprise me.
  13. Rolling blackouts my ass. Power came on at 2 am and started on for only one hour. After not being on for 16 hours straight. Meanwhile while I was driving around town for hours yesterday to run the heater and keep us warm parts of the city and surrounding cities appeared to never lose power. I wouldn't be surprised if this is based on what color your local representatives represent or some bullshit like that
  14. Spent about 3 hours earlier driving around close neighborhoods at 15 mph to have heat. Found a cafe to have dinner. If you have a car make sure to fill up now if possible and use it to get warmed up from time to time. Wish I could help anyone but I haven't had power in 14 hours and it's feels the way game of thrones looks in here. Luckily bought several for logs a few days ago so have enough for a couple of nights
  15. Now on hour 14 straight with no power. Luckily the house is still about 57 so cold but not insane. Neighborhood next to mine just got power within last hour so hoping I'm next. Between the pandemic and this I'm not liking the way Texas runs shit when it hits the fan. They're the leave you in the woods to die type.
  16. EMERGENCY UPDATE: The length of controlled outages have been significantly extended due to the current emergency grid conditions and severe cold weather. These outages are taking place across the service territory and ERCOT has said they could be required through Tuesday. We are asking all Oncor customers to be prepared to be without power for an extended period of time. In addition, we are responding to separate outages caused by the record-breaking winter storm that continues to impact our entire service territory. Customers do not need to report their outages at this time. We are doing everything possible to respond to each of these power emergency events. We remain in close coordination with ERCOT and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we do all we can to protect the integrity of the Texas grid. Oncor message
  17. https://abc13.com/weather/systemwide-power-failure-reported-during-winter-storm/10340431/?fbclid=IwAR2qBKH-wzo_WdF1D1szPmZt3dqzOcc-HB0w6Y1H3EOX9a80lAGegEqlH_I Outages may last a day or longer. No longer rolling blackouts
  18. I haven't noticed anyone I know in Southlake or Trophy Club complaining on social media about outages. And those cunts would be the first to complain.
  19. I'd rather deal with this for a few days during a once a generation weather event if it means we're progressing to cleaner energy.
  20. What's the phenomenon that makes it 3 in the morning but I can go outside in a blackout and see clear as dawn? Is it just the city lights reflecting off the snow and cloud cover?
