  1. Couldn't agree more. There's no question we need to do quite a bit better in-state next year, but that's about ensuring we get the best talent as opposed to any comparison to another school.
  2. Huge deal for the team in 2019. Very, very good news.
  3. Anyone still buying we're not replacing any coaches? Sure hoping that was more about posturing and 1-2 are being moved to QC or HS relations duties.
  4. Agreed. Just saying unlike Cook, he won't have a significant experience advantage and won't have a physical skill advantage either. And that's a testament to them both because they're both ridiculous athletes. In the end, I think Cook, Green and Watson are the three deep when the season starts. Who starts isn't all that important as long as they're effective.
  5. To be clear, that's not what I posited. Just pointed out Watson was an equal physical talent and Green didn't get much PT at CB this year. I think it's far from given Green will be the starter.
  6. Same. From a talent acquisition standpoint and wanting to have the most talented roster we can, I'd rather have Rising stick. But one way or the other we need Buechele or Rising here to backup Sam. I really don't want the backups being Thompson/Johnson.
  7. It was hyperbole when others said it as well. Jamaal was a different dude from the jump. Way more sudden and instinctual than what I see on Brown's film And that's not a knock on Brown at all. Doesn't JC still lead the NFL in career avg per carry? He was a ridiculous talent.
  8. We need another for this year, preferably a grad transfer. Ingram is the only known quantity. Brown should be a reasonable option to take the load off Ingram. Whittington would be more of a wildcat, specialty guy. That's way too thin at a position that gets pretty beat up.
  9. Hope Wells is correct on Jones. Given the youth in our secondary we really need his leadership/experience next year. As for Buechele, he's earned the right to do whatever makes him happy and still garner the respect of the fan-base. Class act.
  10. I didn't pencil in Watson to start over Green. Just pointed out that Green got zero playing time at CB this year and Watson is an equally talented CB in terms of physical skill. Maybe moreso. Had Green been a EE and Cook wasn't, I'd imagine we'd be talking about whether Cook could nail down a spot against Watson. It'll be interesting to see how it shakes out.
  11. Cook likely has one CB spot nailed down. Most feel J. Green has more natural talent and is the likely starter at the other corner. But he got very little playing time and I'm not sure he's more talented than K. Watson. To me, at least one CB is very much up for grabs. On the O-Line, we got three spots to fill and a number of developmental guys. T Johnson might be able to come in as a EE and nail down one of those spots. I think he's the most talented OL we have on the roster at this point.
  12. Too many to name... Amon-Ra St Brown immediately comes to mind. Amazing athlete, wasn't raw, very polished and definitely not slow.
  13. Well, one of them for sure. Do agree with your overall premise. Roster management is much, much better as is our recruiting/evaluation. We're still a year away in my view, but it's going to be much harder for a true freshman to come in and make major waves. And that's great news.
  14. Agreed. We also have a couple CB spots in play as well as a few OL spots. If we're going to have a freshman phenom this year I suspect it will be Whittington for the reasons mentioned previously. He has a massive opportunity and he's coming in early. Other positions there's a ton of competition already on campus or in the same recruiting class. D. Brown might be another, but I'm not completely sold there.
  15. And then you watch the game and see very inconsistent play. On some plays his athleticism on full display and others his lack of experience leading to TDs by the opposition. He's a fabulous talent and has a chance to be a special player. Luckily, we don't need him to start for us and he should have proper time to develop.
  16. Don't think Owens is going to be a game changer day one. Supremely talented and also supremely raw. Plus, he's got a number of extremely talented safeties in front of him. Derrian Brown will see a good bit of playing time out of necessity, but I don't see him as a game changer. Hope I'm wrong on that one. I actually think T Johnson has a chance to start from day 1. We don't have many guys like him on the roster and he is a EE. He's got a chance to lock down a spot by the end of spring.
  17. Maybe the word "retain" is the key here and Warehime is going to move to a QA role?
  18. Hate to miss out on a true talent, but he is full of drama and maybe not the best fit long term. It'll be interesting to see if A$M puts on the full court press. They appear to be pretty tight on numbers.
  19. We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. It's very rare for recruits to sign with a school they don't officially visit.
  20. No clue, I just know it's rare. Saw a tweet from Shep a couple days ago where he was imploring people to text him directly to find out his OV plans and not his trainer/mentors. Not sure what's up, but sounds like something w/FWK might not be going well. Regardless, if he doesn't have concrete plans to officially visit us, but does A$M, 'Bama and UGa, the handwriting is more than on the wall on this one.
  21. When was the last time a recruit signed with a school they never officially visited?
  22. My take as well. I'm sure TH would give it a shot, but I can't imagine Arranda would bite. More than likely use the interest to get another bump.
