  1. Odd thing is there was no such outburst last night. Saban didn't seem to have any energy, nor did his team.
  2. I'll have to admit, when I saw that I was fairly encouraged. Between his brother's tweets and this one it sounds like they're not mindlessly drinking the kool-aid.
  3. I'd actually prefer Herman to continue calling plays. Orlando has the D under control and we should have plenty of QC types who can assist with game/clock management oversight. Herman is where he is largely due to his abilities as an OC and play-caller. He needs to keep doing it. As for Beatty, I want him on staff more for his recruiting chops in D/FW than anything else. The ability to help TH out on the offense is a bonus.
  4. He's a freakish athlete, no doubt. Reminds me a bit of Sean Taylor in terms of size/athleticism. But he needs a good bit of coaching at this point. If he takes to coaching he could be an absolute star in 2-3 years, no question.
  5. Excellent synopsis and makes the most sense to me as well. Question is who would replace him? Beatty seems like the most obvious option, but that would maintain the imbalance between offensive and defensive coaches.
  6. I read it. Didn't see any likely HS options listed. Mostly a bunch of guys we're trying to get to visit or still evaluating, but next to none of them what I'd consider likely. With 4-5 spots left to fill there aren't many obvious adds to the class.
  7. Reading the latest updates, sounds like our interest in Glass is waning. Henry isn't a HS prospect. Noted on Cam'ron Johnson. Haven't read anything about Barlow of late. I'm sure the staff has irons in the fire as they're pretty good about keeping a lid on info.
  8. Sure doesn't seem like we have any likely HS options to add to the 2019 class at this point. Outside of Catalon I'm not sure who else we're heavily considering.
  9. My take on the situation. Don't see him as a difference maker and he doesn't play a position of need.
  10. AFCA going on right now... let's cross our fingers they're doing some serious networking.
  11. Must've hit the wrong thread... thought this one was about CDC.
  12. Never attended a concert in the pit? There's a price to pay for having a spot on the rail and only those completely serious about the event get there. That's the point. Get there early, make friends with your neighbors (so they hold your spot if you need a bathroom break or concession run) and police yourself. There's always going to be a level of frustration with those around you in this type of situation, but that's the price to be paid for getting up close and personal with the game.
  13. O-line definitely seems better and the running game has way more talent than last year. Major step back w/o the Punter and moderate step back defensively. We need the offense to make more than a moderate improvement from last year to approach 8 wins.
  14. Lots of differences between TH and CS. Generally speaking, I think TH has the overall program more organized and headed in a better direction than CS did. Just saying, if the records are similar and he isn't gone we're going to get pounded by national media for CS being fired. Don't want any part of that and truthfully three years is plenty to show marked progress. He should be gone if the records are similar.
  15. CS was only given three years. If TH has a similar record after 3 years and he isn't gone as well we're going to be in a world of hurt on multiple levels. One of which will be the perception as to why CS was actually fired. The national debate on that topic alone would be off the reservation stupid. No thanks. Similar record after 3 years and he has to go.
  16. Hmmm... doesn't sync with what I see from him on Twitter. He's constantly responding to people with suggestions for improvement or criticism. If I'm not mistaken he already initiated a re-seating effort and managed to assuage those being negatively affected. Dude is remarkably available and appears to be very motivated on behalf of the average fan, not to mention seemingly very transparent. I like what I see so far. I suspect at the end of the season he's going to force THs hand on some of his assistant coaches as well, which I'll like even more. So far, homerun hire in my book.
  17. Pros: All the tertiary things surrounding a program, such as facilities improvements, social media, recruiting staff/organization, etc., he seems to have going in the right direction. Appears to be run logically, professionally, and in some areas with some vision. Cons: Either didn't have the pull, insight, or was too insecure to go after a more seasoned coaching staff. To make matters worse, after a year of evidence, he was reluctant or unwilling to make necessary changes. On offense, his forte', it's pretty obvious Shane or Cam Rising are the better options for *this* team. Our WRs are the strength on offense and the O-line does look improved, especially at pass pro. At the end of the UM game they were dropping 8 and daring Sam to throw. He threw 2 picks. TH is paid to understand which QB fits the team better and made the wrong call. Just as he did last year when the O-line was in shambles and it was obvious we needed a QB who could tuck it and go. Outlook: TH is approaching this like he has a 5 year contract. Reality is he's got 3. Hopefully he understands that because if not he'll be gone by the end of next year.
  18. My guess is he'll insist on some major changes to the staff, just as he did with GP 2 years into their B12 existence. Meachum/Combie were the two new hires and TCU went on a roll for the next several years. If TH isn't willing to do that, time for a new HC.
  19. After 1 qtr, a couple thoughts... 1) They're gonna get steam-rolled by any team with a pulse 2) Getting to 7 wins might be awfully tough
  20. Rondale Moore blowing up... hate that we missed out on him, but at least we can feel good about our evals. Since Herman's arrival the vast majority appear to be spot on.
  21. In over his head was my main takeaway. Secondary take was the near complete focus on the recent events as opposed to the game by the media. We'll see how it shakes out on Saturday, but this doesn't feel like a team ready to go play a game.
