  1. Prayers for young Mr. Shipley.

For those of us who are unsure about prayer in general:

Once you dig into it, I believe you find that you can pray, and it does work... and it doesn't require any specific deity or any supernatural entity. What it actually requires is imagination. That probably sounds screwy, but hear me out.

I'm not sure I've ever met anyone who didn't worry about some things or something. It seems to be a purely natural "ability"... we pretty much all do it. When you break it down, it consists of little more than thinking about something bad happening... that is, imagining the bad whatever will come to be.

That is the key here: imagination.

Prayer is exactly the same as Worry, with one small, but hugely powerful difference. Where Worry consists of imagining something bad happening, Prayer is imagining something good happening. You don't need to specify how, just what.

That's all there is to it. And just as Worry hangs around and pops up, from seemingly nowhere, just under your conscious thoughts, Prayer does exactly the same.

You don't have to work at it, just plant that thought about good things amd let your imagination go.

So who were in red jerseys?

I was wondering if anyone would catch that. I just couldn't bring myself to write "green", forgot to go back and change Baylor to 0U, and when I noticed it was too late to edit. Didn't look like anyone gave a fuck, so I didn't bother to mention.

Obviously the portal fuckery has made most all of surly forget about Meatchicken... other than most of their OL seemingly interested in getting the hell out of Ann Arbor... Psych!!

On rainy days in middle school when we couldn't go outside for PE, our coach ran Humble Broadcasting Network films of SWC games. Kern Tips was the voice of the SWC and long before there were multiple networks broadcasting different games, his voice on the radio was like having a 50 yard line seat in the stadium. This link describes some of his many contributions: https://www.tshaonline.org/handbook/entries/tips-kern

"Third and a long 3 to go... just outside the Baylor 30... Cotten under center... the snap... turns left... hands it to Ramirez... off tackle he dives... powers down to the 27 where he nestles in a nest of red jerseys... and the chains move... first down Longhorns!"

Names, not numbers - it was radio, man, we didn't care about the numbers we couldn't see. You're right, it was like being there.

One of my uncles, who was on retainer to Humble and regularly got in the press box, told me Kern would arrive a bit before kickoff, hang his jacket on the back of his chair, unbuckle his belt, undo the top button on his pants, put a paper bag on the table and take out two bottles of whisky, one for himself and one for everyone else, take a big hit out of his, light and set, pull up the mic and start talking.

Yessir. I was at that one, cold and wet. Pretty much my all-time favorite aggy choke. Near as I could tell, that ag who had the interception was trying to lateral it when he got wrapped up... all he had to do was go down and commence to savor the win. Perfection in every way.

so, what about Michael Huff. Will he be coaching or no?

There's a 67% likelihood Gideon hires him, after he takes over as DC, after Boom takes over as HC, after Sark takes over as Dolphins' HC. Situation is fluid.

The amount of calls Georgia gets should be studied . Shit is ridiculous

The face mask that turned the runner's head around 180 degrees, right in front of the white hat cocksucker... no flag...

Now that they failed that, the moron Ref is trying to put a second back on the clock and chase everyone off the field. Fuck me.

Kirby vs Refs brings up one of Josh Pate's decent takes: end Conference refs, go with single reffing org, and create actual accountability and consequenses.

    And pay them.

Well... yeah... that's how you implement consequences.

Like to see widening review topics, and allow coaches to call for a review even with no T-O left, with a yardage penalty if not successful. Delay of Game.

  8. Still seeing some bitching about JMU and Tulane... The plan was always to get 10 of the top fifteen or so, plus a couple of feel-good patsies, so it's not really about them. Even without us, half the rest of the damned field was SEC already. The only way in for us was dropping Bama out, which was not politically possible, or maybe 0U, but they beat Bama.
