Does it count of you have multiple wall calendars from years past... although not on the wall any longer?

And how about recordings on wax, vinyl, tape reel, 8-track tape, cassette tape...? Sorry, no cylinders.

I have a hard time singing the academic praises of a non-Notre Dame institution...

Is your name Claude? We had a guy named Claude in the Instructors' office back in grad school. Claude was a Domer, and he only knew two things about football:

    1. Notre Dame had the bestest football team evar evar, always.

    2. Notre Dame football players were the only college football players who had to take a pay cut when they went to the Pros.

What Texas reporter is going to post that kind of clip while he's still on the team?

Dunno. Maybe Kurt? He still reads Surly, right?

I don't care if it's a reporter or not. I wouldn't expect a reporter to do so, good or bad. There are plenty of folks here who post clips all the time, so maybe one of them?

Super valuable clarification and insight. I'm truly grateful you took the time to explain to my ignorant ass.

The world is better for it, and particularly your open and clear display of child like petulant behavior similar to Mack and Deion.

It's great, and these types of arguments are so very productive. If only Surly had more of them.

    "child-like"

Apparently power tools are like media productions. There are only five or six companies that make all fifteen different major brands, and for most of them the only functional difference is color and/or sexual orientation. Your preference will lead you to choose, and whether chosen well or poorly for you is perfectly acceptable to the manufacturers.

... I'm not going to compare Mack to Deion, as it's just too different at this point. I'm not debating the core of your argument, that they were both petulant asses.

    ...

I apologize for confusing you, but saying you're not going to compare, after comparing and followed by continuing to compare doesn't improve whatever your argument is.

The actual point I was trying to make was not about petulant assiness, it was "Fuck You, Pay Me" conflation. I thought it was clear by using the term FUPM, but I was wrong. At least, in your case.

Clearly, I have failed you, and probably others. I accept that and will trouble the thread no more... at least, not on that point.

Man, not to defend Mack Brown, but he never ran shitloads of players off the team like Deion. There were several times in Mack's career where a player would have a career ending injury and they'd keep him on the roster to honor his scholarship. I could never, ever see Deion do anything even close to that, he'd kick someone out for looking at his son wrong. For all that we call FUPM, Mack Brown still didn't treat his players like they were disposable.

    In a way...

Coach Prime is in a league of his own.

In a way, he is very much like Coach FUPM, but with a different demeanor and considerably less on-the-field coaching success.

And... the Name of the Game is Entertainment.

If you can find a channel with green acres on will you please pm me that? Always loved that show growing up and need to catch up on old episodes. Thank you

Ah, yes: Eva Gabor - one of the highest attainments of the arts of Makeup and Cosmetic Surgery.

  10. Have had a bad achilles tendon in my right leg for a few years, apparently brought on by a -floxacin scrip. Swollen up just above the heel. Not horribly bothersome, but sometimes sore enough to cause limping. Hasn't gotten worse, and was helped quite a bit by massaging "the sore place" on the calf. A few weeks ago, I suddenly developed "drop foot", which has dramatically altered my stride. I have to pick up the foot with a knee bend. The foot doesn't flop all the way down, but it also doesn't lift. Sitting flat-footed, and trying to flex upward, the big toe has almost no movement, although the other toes have about the same motion as the other foot. There is also a lot of numbness on the top of the foot. Now I'm seeing obvious swelling, mostly in the foot but a little up the ankle, too.

At 81, I'm not sure whether to chalk it up as just regular "falling apart" or what. I reckon I ought to let a specialist go over this. GP doesn't seem concerned by it, but I'm pissed off about not being able to walk more than a few dozen strides at a time, and pretty damned slowly, at that. What kind of Doc should I see?
